So there was an article posted on reddit, and the headline was that RFK's lawyer wants to ban the polio vaccine. And it made it to the frontpage. Thats what everyone is referencing.
But if anybody actually read the article, you'd it says right in there that nobody in the administration is trying to ban the polio vaccine. The lawyer actually says straight up, i do not want to ban the polio vaccine, and thats in the article. It was just a clickbait headline.
But nobody reads the article, they just read the headline, and now a bunch of idiots think theyre actually trying to ban the polio vaccine.
Thats not the article i was referring to. I assumed you had read it already. That ones even more misleading. Although it does also mention in there that he doesnt want to ban the polio vaccine
The headline is referring to a petition the lawyer submitted on behalf of a different client back in 2022. That client is just a random organization that hired this lawyer. Hes a lawyer that specializes in suing pharmaceutical companies. The lawyer doesnt actually want to ban the polio vaccine and has straight up said that. He was just submitting documents on behalf of a client. Its what lawyers do. Thats just his job.
RFK and the president elect have also both flat out said they dont plan on banning the polio vaccine.
Well that’s good. Because after Trump repeals the ACA and takes healthcare away from 30 million Americans, it won’t matter if you want the vaccine or not. Probably couldn’t afford it anyways.
Remember when he tried to dismantle the ACA through the Senate and failed, thanks to John McCain? Then, as his final act in office, his administration brought a lawsuit against the ACA to the Supreme Court. Fortunately, the Court rejected it and sent it back to the lower courts, but by then, he was already out of office.
Good times. The irony, though—statistically, at least 50% of the people relying on the ACA for healthcare probably voted for him. But that’s Republicans for you: they’ll endure their own misery as long as it makes Democrats “cry lib tears”.
