Boots Buying Help Danner Bull Run

Post image
17 Upvotes

My Ariat’s soles cracked. (Previous post) I’ve been deep diving a bit and am leaning towards Danner. I do light Low Voltage Work so not as heavy duty as some in this sub. Obviously the consensus is Brunt is trash. A lot of Thoroughgood fanboys. I’ve worn Keens, Twisted, and like them for the most part. Main reason I’m going Danner is I want something that is going to last and is also repairable. Wanted to try to get my ariat’s soles replaced but ariat only repairs specific models and mine ain’t it.

I have used and abused all of them. Red Wings, Danners, Thorogoods, Keens, Wolverines, even Navy issued Boondockers. Danners have lasted the longest Thorogoods have been the most comfortable. So Back to Danners this time.

Specific Model Question | Info White's Perry Moc Toe Width and break in

I am looking to find some work boots, specifically moc toes. I have feet that are shaped like spatulas - 11, 2/3 E and high volume. It is difficult for me to find any type of shoe at this point. I have tried most moc toes available from Red Wings, Jim Green, Timberland, Thorogoods, Keens, and Carolinas.

I have a pair of White Perry moc toes that are decent but are a little too tight, but nothing signifigant. Before I commit to keepting them, I was wondering if anyone had any experience on how much they break in and stretch. Also open to suggestions on other brands.

Boot maintenance Ready for work

Seam sealed.

Greased.

Buffed.

Ready for their first day of work Monday. We’ll see if they are able to take what I throw at ‘em. Either they’ll be the best boot I’ve ever owned or the first boot to be shoved so far up someone’s ass, they’ll have a steel toe for a tongue. No in between on that.

This’ll be the true test if they are worth their hype. Thank you for everyone’s input and advice throughout the process.

Boots Buying Help Most Comfortable Chemical-Resistant Rubber Boots?

I work in conservation and use a lot of herbicides, so I'm looking for something that will hold up to occasional drift/drips from my backpack sprayer. My last pair of boots were cheap and flimsy, and after having minor foot surgery in December, I need a better, more plush pair that will provide more cushioning and support.

What's the most comfortable brand/pair of rubber boots you've ever worn?

Boots Buying Help Thinking about a pair of PNW boots???

I am thinking about getting a pair of PNW boots to replace my Thorogood wedge Moc toe. The way i look at it is they would end up being the last pair of work boots I would ever buy, since they can be rebuilt so worth the up front cost. Anyone done this? looking for opinions and advice on brands. Looking ant Nick's, White's and J K boots.

Boots Goofin (Pictures, Clips) Liked them so much I got a second pair.

After having this same pair for the last 3 weeks at work I’ve been so happy with them I said screw it and went out and got a second pair to rotate with. I wanted to get some Carolina AMPs but nobody around had them for me to try so I stuck with these. 240 bucks with some new laces where I got them, can’t complain. I thought about a wedge sole but the defined heel has seemed to fix the hip issues I was having from my last pair of wedge sole boots (some Danner steelyards).

Thorogood 804-4375.

Boots Buying Help Summer Work Boots

I have just started out as a carpenter, this will be my first summer. I have a pair of Red Wing Traction Tred Lite's. These have been making my feet sweat and I am starting to get athlete's foot. I am looking to get some breathable leather boots. I have researched that unlined is the way to go but should I get soft toe? Any recommendations?

Boot Review | Update Ariat Boots

Post image

Burnt once again! Felt decent in the store but after three 12 hour shifts on concrete my feet can't take it anymore. My feet are not wide by any means and I even got a size 12 EE. Is this style boot just more narrow by design? I wasted hundreds on boots now. So frustrating! Decent as far as arch goes, but the only thing good about these are the laces. They do stay tied

Specific Model Question | Info Double H Fit

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey y’all, I ordered a couple pairs of Double H to try and find a good fit. Graham steel and Dwight steel in 7 D and 7 EE. I’m short and have small feet so finding work boots that fit is tough. My question for folks who have broken in a pair of H’s is how tight ought they to be?

The 7 EE have plenty of toe room and are comfortable out of the box, but are also not snug anywhere at all. The vamps are stiff for sure but they aren’t cinched down like the Ds. They aren’t falling off but if they loosen at all it won’t be a good fit.

The 7 D are real tight in the toes and the Grahams at least real tight across the vamp. The grahams seem to just run tighter in general even in EE.

I’ve worn cowboy boots all my life but never steel toe, I’ve always had lace ups for work. My regular pairs snug up in places and let out in others. I’m not sure how the cap affects that. Any advice is appreciated!

Boots Buying Help What are the best / most comfortable light duty safety boot ?

My employer has banned Blundstone’s, after one incident of someone rolling their ankle.

The new rules are 6” safety boot, non Chelsea style. Nothing saying that they can’t be a zip up, but must have no elastic.

My position does not require a rugged boot. I’m an office based PM, but I require to wear safety boots while in the warehouse and on site visits. Most sites are office / commercial sites, with active construction sites being few and far between.

With that, my priority is something very lightweight, comfortable and it wouldn’t hurt if they looked good too. I’ll miss my Blundstones

Boots Goofin (Pictures, Clips) Switched to Thorogood from Danner

Decided to switch over to something else after running a pair of Danner Bull Runs over the last 3-4 years.

These are very comfortable off the bat, got the wide size for some extra room after hearing they run narrow. No pain or weird rubbing so far. Loving them!

Got these a month ago. I'm a Union Carpenter doing heavy guage metal framing and drywall. Very comfortable but firm after the break in. Good on concrete all day as long as you're moving. 8/10

Boot Review | Update One Week - Irish Setter WingShooter 8”

Well, here i am again, this time with a “review”.

A few weeks ago, I purchased a gorgeous pair of I.S. WingShooter 8” boots.

Upon first wear, these boots were INSANELY comfortable right out of the box. Hardly felt like a boot up until I laced up all the way. Wore them around the house for a few hours to kind of wear them in a little bit with little to no discomfort.

Throughout that same week I wore them for around 8hrs straight just doing every day activities (I was actually training for new job). Despite being 8hrs straight, these boots were still insanely comfortable, with wonderful support on the sides of feet and obviously the ankle.

This last week, I was thrown onto a rotation for my new job, where I got sent across the country (OR->VA) for a solar drilling project. For the last week, I’ve been wearing these boots for 12+hrs straight, across uneven, wet, muddy, dry, rock, sticks, grass terrains and I have to say, these boots are still holding up really well.

The only gripe I have with these this far, is on the toe box , the seam is starting to split ever so slightly after only a week. Not a HUGE problem for me, but just thought I’d throw that out there.

First week experience , I rate 8.7/10

Want something light/breathable/comfortable with a composite toe. The Timberlands are almost twice the price of the Skechers but heard they are worth it. I’m in the UK so can’t find RedWings, Keen and other popular choices here :(

Boot Rant Bought a pair of MX Carolinas today despite the tariffs

Post image
9 Upvotes

I figured the new tariffs won’t affect existing stock just yet, and then I saw that they were on sale. I have no problem buying foreign made boots as long as the price reflects the quality. I also found a 20 percent off coupon. Figured it’s good to have a spare pair of work boots before everything gets more expensive. I would also consider buying Thorogoods but the toe box is too narrow for me.
