[Question] Will I regret one of these purchases?

I'll try to make this short since these are busy times.

Ableton Live 12 Standard costs 439 USD on the Official Ableton Website.
Ableton Live 12 Standard costs 255 USD on the "thomannmusic" Website.

Where I am financially in life, the difference between 439 and 255 USD is massive.

Do i buy the 255 from thomannmusic or will I regret it? Could I get scammed? What are the secret "restrictions" they're not telling me? Or is it simply too good to be true and I can pay 255 for an official Ableton Live 12 Standard License?

Be kind, I am relatively new to this.

You can get it even cheaper.

  1. get Ableton Live Lite. E.g. it’s included in Ableton Note
  2. get the upgrade from Thomann for USD 189 https://www.thomannmusic.com/ableton_live_12_standard_upgrade_live_lite.htm

If you happen to need a Midi keyboard, you could get an Arturia Minilab 3 (85 USD) which also includes Live Lite.

That way you can get the Minilab and Live 12 Standard for a total of 274 USD

This is actually super clutch but I do have one worry.

The Arturia Minilab 3 will arrive to a relative of mine in Canada. I most likely won't have my hands on it until I visit them in 4 months. My question is, Can I still activate my Ableton Live Lite just by punching in the codes my relative will send me or do I have to physically plug the Mini into my laptop and so on...?

It should work. The Minilab box has a card with Serial and unlock code. Register it here:

https://www.arturia.com/support/registeryourproduct

In your account under „my products“ you will find the keyboard and there‘s a section: other included licenses…

Edit: register that license in your Ableton account. Register the upgrade license from Thomann in your Ableton account. Done.

You could even email ableton guys with fake pictures of gear to get a free live lite license if you're extra cheap

$439 for Standard doesn't seem right, it used to be under $300 on the official site. Your links says 279 Euro for me. Did the $ lose that much recently or are the tarriffs already slapped on top?

Just get the Thomann one. I've bought a Turntable and Synthesizer from them, total legit company.

Are you sure you are not looking at a student/EDU license on thomann? If you are then you might have to give proof of student status after registering.

Strange. I see the same price from thomann and ableton. In my country the thomann site is thomann.de not thomannmusic, i don't know if that site is legit

Thomannmusic.com is the US branch of thomann.

It is. You can use multiple domains for the same website like youtu.be and Youtube.com
