[Question] Exporting Stems takes so long
I’m on PC, Ableton 11
Why is exporting stems taking so long? It’s been 1 hour and it’s around halfway. It never used to take this long I’m wondering if it’s just me?
The session is around 40 tracks mostly using stock effects except some vsts like analog lab and UAD plugins. Exporting A session like this usually takes around 10 minutes. I attached a pic of the settings I choose the export.
I read online that including the return and master effects adds a lot of time usually, in my experience never this long tho. Any help would be greatly appreciated 😸

[Question] I can't for the life of me add groove to an audio clip?!
I have a hi-hat loop that I quantized to grid by warping the transients (they are yellow). Now when I try to add an 8th swing from the groove pool, nothing happens.
The hat loop is in 8th notes.
I even tried some ridiculous amount of groove like 66 but nothing happens. When I commit the groove, some of the yellow markers disappear but all the transients stay in the same place.
I've searched everywhere and it seems no one else has had this issue.. why doesn't it work?!

[Question] Midi Mapping Question
I’ve got a midi controller. I’ve got samples loaded on multiple pads in an instance of Drum Rack.
I’d like to assign one of the controller knobs to the start point of a sample on pad 1. No problem, I can map that. But if I repeat that process for pad 2 using the same knob, it ends up controlling the start points on both pads simultaneously, which I don’t want. I want to set my start point per pad and leave it there as I continue to the next. Is there a way around this? (Other than using unique knobs for each assignment or of course, just using the mouse!)

[Question] Sentient Shadows Sound Ableton Suite
So when I was using the trial version of Ableton Suite, I began using a song wherein I used the synth sound Sentient Shadows. I really liked the sound and since have purchased Ableton Standard, which doesn't have the sound. Is there something similar I could get for free or some way I could just purchase that specific sound from Ableton? How would I find it?

[Tech Help Windows] Project folder organization
I'm trying to clean my computer of all the files I don't need. My Ableton project folder organization is making this a bit difficult. Basically, I just have one project folder with all my Live sets in the root. Here's a screenshot:

This means that anything I record goes into the Recorded folder under Samples. I deleted a bunch of old projects, so I don't need those recordings, but there are just over 17,000 files in that folder, many of which I still need.
I had an idea: if I can make each project into its own folder (with only one Live set per project folder), each of them will be more consolidated. This way, if I decide to move or delete any projects, it will be as simple as moving or deleting a single folder, rather than digging through a bunch of clutter.
To execute this, I found the "Collect all and Save" feature. Although I'm not entirely sure how it works, and I'm not even sure if that's the feature I'm looking for.
Any tips on how I would execute this reorganization? Thanks!

[Max for Live] New Free M4L Util: Variation Octave
Drop before a MIDI or Instrument Rack and assign an unused octave of MIDI notes to select your rack Variations. Optionally trigger randomizing Macros with the last note in the octave.
This device is in the spirit of keeping you in the moment and away from the mouse when making music. It opens new performance possibilities...

[Hardware] Audio cable from Korg Minilogue XD to Push 3. Which one?
Hello, I want to connect an audio cable from the Korg Minilogue XD to my Push 3. The various video instructions are confusing me. My Korg XD output is R + L/mono Push 3 in 1 + 2. Do I need to connect two separate cables? If there are two separate cables, are they different? What should I look out for? Or a Y cable with the two connectors on the Korg and the other one on the Push? It would be great if someone could send me a link where I can see exactly what the cables look like. Thanks for your help.

[Question] MIDI output to headphones
Hello!
Feeling incredibly dumb that I can't figure this out. I have a minilab3 connected to Ableton live 12 lite. I can play the minilab and record but I'm unable to hear the recording. Do I need to hook my headphones up to the minilab to hear the midi out? Something else. I'm very confused.
Thanks

[Question] Let's say you want to mimic the function of Soma Cosmos in Live.
How close could you get? How would you go about it? Would you need to use third party plugins at any stage?
[Performance] Small durable screen for live performance
Hi Guys,
I'm looking for a small durable screen that I can use to monitor Ableton whilst I am performing.
Something that I can glance at and make amendements if needed, but that allows me to keep my laptop in clamshell mode in a case out of the way.
Any suggestions?

[Question] MIDI Mapping for DecentSampler plugin from MPK Mini Plus
Sorry for the super specific question, but can’t seem to get this to work. Trying to setup MPK Mini Plus rotary knobs to control the settings on a Decent Sampler midi instrument within Ableton 12. When I press the MIDI button (upper right corner of Ableton interface) that makes all the accessible parameters turn blue, it doesn’t seem to include the Decent Sampler plugin controls. Anybody tried this or got a tip on how to get it to work?

[Question] Mixing workflow for volume balancing and automation
Hi all what is everyone’s preferred method of automating volume / mixing volume levels? I tend to use utility at the end of my device chain per track to set the levels and then use the track volume faders for automating volume in arrangement mode. Meaning I can go back to the utility to adjust the track level. I used to be a dubbing mixer using protools and that’s similar to how we did it at the studio I was at, using clip gain on audio regions to set volume balance first, then using track faders for all your volume automation for dipping music etc under voiceovers. With the fader starting at zero it is more precise this way when using a mixing desk as there is more physical throw per db (as scale is logarithmic). I have seen reference to others doing it the other way around and using the track faders in ableton for balancing levels and using the utility device to automate volumes instead. Just wanted everyone’s two pence as to their preferred way and why! Thanks!

[Tutorial] Is “slice to new MIDI track” unavailable on Ableton Live Intro?
I keep seeing the feature used in tutorials etc, where you take a sample in an audio track, warp it and then right click, “slice to new MIDI track”.
I’m using ableton live intro, is an upgrade needed for this feature? Thanks.

[Question] Buffer issue using Serum 2
I was playing around in Serum 2 today, so I opened a fresh project and loaded a few instances but when I opened my third I noticed cpu was spiking to 80-90% and the audio started cracking. I figured it was a cpu issue but after checking activity monitor it showed 81% idle yet ableton running at 300% cpu.. I’ve never had issues with this machine before, especially with such a small project, usually I don’t face issues like this until I have a 70-80 track project with multiple instances of Serum 1. I tried using a buffer size of 1024 and 2048 samples and increasing it didn’t help.
Can anyone explain what’s going on here and if there’s anything I can do to prevent it in the future? I’m on a 2020 iMac if that makes a difference

[Push] Is there anything that the Push 2 cant do that MPC live 2 can?
Apart from portability? I want to start sampling more and I think the pads on push 2 are a bit tough to finger drum on. Not trying to spend 1000 if I don't have to maybe, just learn to be more accurate on the push 2 for finger drumming. Sample chopping though is there really any major difference?

[Question] Ableton Move or Push Upgrade kit
I currently have the push 3 controller version with suite 12. Absolutely love it and I can get roughly 70% of music production done with it without touching a mouse. However, I have been wanting to be just a bit more portable and don’t know if it makes more sense to purchase the push upgrade kit which is about a thousand dollars or purchase the move which is roughly half the price.
Benefits of the push upgrade kit: Bigger display More features and specs Possibly more sounds internally? MPE capabilities
Benefits of the move: Portability (size) Battery life (4 hours vs 1-2 with push) Price More portable controller for when using laptop
I would Just hate to purchase the push upgrade kit just for them to release a newer version of the kit since I heard intel no longer manufactures the processor for it. However, idk if the move is worth the portability if I’m loosing most of my functionality.

[Question] Will I regret one of these purchases?
I'll try to make this short since these are busy times.
Ableton Live 12 Standard costs 439 USD on the Official Ableton Website.
Ableton Live 12 Standard costs 255 USD on the "thomannmusic" Website.
Where I am financially in life, the difference between 439 and 255 USD is massive.
Do i buy the 255 from thomannmusic or will I regret it? Could I get scammed? What are the secret "restrictions" they're not telling me? Or is it simply too good to be true and I can pay 255 for an official Ableton Live 12 Standard License?
Be kind, I am relatively new to this.
