[Question] Midi Mapping Question

I’ve got a midi controller. I’ve got samples loaded on multiple pads in an instance of Drum Rack.

I’d like to assign one of the controller knobs to the start point of a sample on pad 1. No problem, I can map that. But if I repeat that process for pad 2 using the same knob, it ends up controlling the start points on both pads simultaneously, which I don’t want. I want to set my start point per pad and leave it there as I continue to the next. Is there a way around this? (Other than using unique knobs for each assignment or of course, just using the mouse!)

Is there a way around this?

Use the controller as a Control Surface. Then the knob controls only the currently selected device's parameter.
(If the default order of the parameters put the offset parameter on a too high number of a parameter page you can map the offset to Macro1 and control it that way, this would require you to map any other parameters you want to control that way to Macros too of course).
