But in his defense, he was so stupid he thought the importing country paid the tariffs. The reality is no country pays. The consumer pays and he doesn't know that. He just stuck us all with a gigantic sales tax. 1 u/badlydrawnboyz 1d ago you can have export tariffs as well. But yeah, colloquially it defaults to import tariffs.
