Honestly, I hate the way that some guys can only admit to shortcomings by twisting it into a kind of meta self-compliment. I knew a guy who would refer to cheating on his spouse by saying “I’m a big enough man to admit that I made a mistake.”

I always thought there was something deeply pathetic about how he could only possibly acknowledge betraying his wife if he could transform it into an opportunity to mention how honest and self-knowledgeable he was. Embarrassing.
