Nah. Trump is not different, the people backing him are just way more organized. They were not subtle about any of this. Anyone who believed he wouldn't do the things he and his people literally said they wanted to do, is willfully ignorant. People like this are not trustworthy. All it will take is a slightly better lie to get them to turn on us again. Admitting you were wrong about something so obvious doesn't deserve praise.

Trump 1.0 was forced into surrounding himself with more typical NeoLib Republicans who kept their same usual trajectory of just mildly fucking Americans and the budget without making too much of a splash.

Trump 2.0 is embracing the more radicals who openly want to tear America down and rebuild it into a white nationalist Oligarchy.

An alternative argument i have heard is that the evangelical Christian groups are championing this because they think destabilizing America will bring about Armageddon, and as such will bring about the 2nd coming of Christ.

You know, because playing chicken with God works out so well historically ( if you believe the Bible they say they follow, but have never read).

In addition, that adds clarity as to why there is such support for Israel.

The prevailing belief is that Jerusalem will be the new kingdom, so protecting that by any monstrous means necessary is actually being supportive of God, and not in any way against Jesus' teachings.

So they vote for the anti-christ? I doubt if their god is real he will reward them for that.
