It wasn't that big, maybe an inch and half, two inches long, pencil thick, but cooked. He dug it out of the bin...from inside a filter full of cold coffee grounds (which I mistakenly thought would disguise the smell). I heard a rustle and some splintery crunches, flew out of my chair, but it was too late. He looked me dead in the eye, gave one last defiant splintery cruch and swallowed it.
What symptoms should I look for? Hopefully, it was small enough to pass through and buffered by the enourmous meal that he'd just eaten. I'll be watching his poop closely tomorrow, but when should I worry between now and then? (There's no nearby emergency vet open on a Sunday here and transporting an annoyed, defiant basset to another city without a car is not something I'm keen to do if I don't have to.)

In this position I never get to see her face, that's why this is one of my favourite pictures.

We have a foster basset through a rescue, he is a puppy, and was supposed to be here for 1 day, but we kept him for the month getting him fixed, clearing up skin infections, etc.
It was a bit bumpy at the start, he has had some accidents in the house, chewed things up and some biting incidents with my dogs, but his behavior has improved tremendesly. After he bit me, hard, I let the rescue know that we were not going to adopt him and to make him available.
Now the time has come, a family wants to adopt him, and it is breaking my heart because I know he has worked on his behavior. My puppy absolutly loves him, sits on him, they wrestle and chase each other all day long. My older basset tolerates him. I have said to the adoptive family I would love it if my dog could still play with him, but they don't live near us. Also, if I pulled the rug out and said JK we changed our minds and are keeping him, I am an asshole. I am just having serious Foster Mom guilt, please someone else who has been in this situation give advice!

My 3 year old basset has had an infection for two weeks now. On two types of drops and oral antibiotics(has 1 week left of pills). Still has mucus in both ears unfortunately. Vet said if the two weeks of pills don’t work then they want to do surgery? How normal is this?

She is about a year and a half old. One second, running around everywhere, and the next passed out.

Has Anyone else’s basset developed a black part on their second eyelid. It’s new,not growing, and not raised. Wondering what it could be.

Lol I know it's a lot of moments! But I had to share- Canelo manages to make funny faces anytime there's a camera, that is if he even looks at it. Thankfully we did manage to catch some nice family photos, but these are gold! Enjoy!

This is Molly. She's such a huge sweetheart! She's a little over 3 years old. She has definitely slowed down once she hit her 2.5 year mark; however, we still deal with the issue of her wanting to jump up on people when they walk in the room. We are fine with her jumping into our laps on the couch, but we want to deter her from jumping up onto people's legs when standing. Reason being is because we have 3 children with 2 of them being small and she knocks them over. It's not aggressive, she's just heavy. It actually scares the kids. Also, not everyone wants a 60 pound dog jumping on them when they go into someone's house. We have tried countless times with trying to train her not to jump, even not allowing her to jump on us, but it doesn't seem to be working. I get she's probably just wanting to see our face and not our ankles, but I need some tips that worked for you guys that were able to break this bad habit!

She's about 1 year older than him. If you think a basset is a handful, don't get a golden retriever puppy 😂😂
