Mourning My void is dying and I’m sad

Post image

Just that. She’s fifteen, has cancer, I’ve had her for thirteen years and I’m devastated. I wanted to share her with everyone, as she’s brought me so much joy and I’m going to miss her terribly. I started palliative care this week, and she just took a turn for the worse. Her name is Mortimer. It’s cheesy, but she’s my best friend.

It’s a few year old, but that’s my favorite picture of her.

What a beautiful gal. I’m sure she loves you just as much as you love her.

This part, these final moments (however long it may be), is always the hardest. Mortimer’s story is coming to a close, but her story is one full of many happy memories that you will cherish for a long time.

Would you feel comfortable sharing something about Mortimer? Does she have a favorite place in the house, or a funny way of getting your attention?

She was a feral cat who lived in the alley behind my house and she used to taunt me but never get close. Then one day, after about three months, she jumped in my lap while I was outside reading a book. Two days later, she wanted to come inside my house and she never left. She likes to sleep under the covers with me, and would bat my face with her paw whenever I was asleep to get my attention. I’ve never minded and was happy to give her all my attention whenever she asked.
