Reviews Just watched Munjya – Here’s my take!

Post image
551 Upvotes

Bollywood finally gave us a horror-comedy based on Indian folklore, and honestly? It’s a fun watch but not without flaws. The story follows Bittu (Abhay Verma), who accidentally awakens a creepy little creature called Munjya, and chaos unfolds. The first half is solid, mixing horror and comedy well, but the second half loses steam.

What works: The Munjya itself looks surprisingly good, the Marathi folklore angle is refreshing, and Abhay Verma carries the film well. Some genuinely funny moments land, and the horror bits (at least early on) are effective.

What doesn’t: The movie leans too much into comedy, making the horror feel less impactful. The pacing dips in the second half, and the emotional moments don’t hit as hard as they should.

Overall, it’s a decent one-time watch, fun but not Stree-level great. If you like horror comedies, give it a shot! Rating: 3.5/5

Anyone else watched it? What did you think?

Reviews Watched Loveyapa, and I’ve got thoughts.

I wanted to watch this movie because the whole concept looked so relatable. This generation finds love once, twice, thrice, and then carries all that history in the next. Hence, the trust issues. And social media makes it worse. This movie really puts things in perspective about love, love, instant gratification, and why things feel so disposable now. About acting- Khushi Kapoor kinda did better than expected. Her voice sounds like Sridevi. Junaid Khan though? His awkwardness doesn’t quite lands and feels a bit off. Overall the movie will make you think about where relationships are headed.

Ghajini follows Sanjay (Aamir Khan), a man with memory loss, seeking revenge for his fiancée Kalpana’s (Asin) murder. Using tattoos and notes, he tracks her killer. Aamir delivers a powerful performance, and the mix of action and emotion keeps you engaged. The film is intense, with a gripping love story and thrilling sequences.

Reviews Dhoom. How did people view it back in 2004 vs now?

Post image
593 Upvotes

So I technically saw Dhoom for the first time today. I saw it as a kid but was too little to remember any of it except a few scenes. I'll give my review briefly in two parts:

1.story:not good not bad, just okay. heist movies being predictable have to rely on dialogues and acting more than usual. dialogue was average. only thing i like about the story is that john abraham didn’t get taken in like expected.

2.acting:i don't want to pull punches. I want to be honest. I dislike abhishek bachhan as an actor. I disliked his character in this movie so much i actually wanted john to win even though I knew the ending wouldn’t have AB lose. He has no character, he is just a caricature of the goodie two shoes hero cop from the 90s movies. most of the cast such as john's accomplices were average. esha deol is one of the worst bwood actresses ever. uday chopra showed why he never made it.

last of all, john abraham. this man carried the movie for me. in fact i think this is one of the best antagonists i've seen in hindi movies(which isn’t a high bar considering how often villains are just evil people wanting power).

What do the people in this sub think of it? I understand how this might have been a fresh movie in it's genre. Was it more loved back then than it is now.

Reviews Chhaava is average.

Ohk hear me out for a moment

I have planned to watch it in theatre with family, we went, watched and no emotions (only that kavi moment about chandan & namak was good)...

Then we came to know what happened... We have already watched tahnaji in theatre & i would recommend you all if you have not watched it... It was very good movie, but in chhava every scene has not continuity, no plots , just random scene from time to time, all fight scenes are choppy & the rashmika is just not fit for role at all.

If you think I'm hating the film, no I just don't like it , maybe it's because I was expecting Something great from trailer...any way it was a decent film for me

This is just my opinion, maybe others loved it & it can be seen in collection.. peace✨✌🏻

now that I'm thinking more about it-"BELOW average movie"

Reviews Mrs Movie analysis - what angry men in the comment missed about the movie

Mrs Movie accurately captures the nuances of being a 'housewife' in upper middle-class India.

I have read a lot of comments calling out Mrs as a feminazi propaganda movie. I am livid.

Household chores are a given when the other partner contributes 100% financially. Mrs is not against the amount of work that a housewife has to do. IT IS NOT AGAINST HOUSEWIVES HAVING TO DO HOUSEWORK.

It is about the small insults, lack of appreciation, unrealistic expectations, lack of mutual consent, utter disregard for needs, lack of freedom to pursue one's dreams, casual sexism, misogyny and so much more.

It is not about having to use the silvatta - it is about having to use it every single meal when clearly, there is an easier, faster, and less painful method (mixie grinder) available.

It is not about having to cook a lot - it is about being appreciated and thanked for the effort put in. It is about gratitude.

It is not about having to do basic tasks for the husband. It is about the learned incompetence - if a guy earns money, that somehow means he cannot take his own undies and clothes out after a bath?

It is not about helping the husband - it is about the degradation - the sasurji could have got the servant to take out his footwear, no? Instead of his wife.

It is not about Diwakar being bad in bed - it is about caring about foreplay and aftercare, caring whether your wife finished or not, caring for consent, caring for enjoyment and not calling her a "sex expert".

It is not about Diwakar yelling at Richa when she accuses him of things - it is about him getting offended when she tries to communicate what she finds wrong. The reply to "I also have desires" should have been "Okay, I will take your desires into account next time onwards" and NOT "Shakal dekhi hai apni? The reply to Richa's comment on her being a "free ki maid aur cook" should have been understanding WHY she said such a thing in the first place, not trampling all over her at the friend's house and then giving her the silent treatment and then forcing a sorry and sex out of her.

It is not about making good or bad shikanji - it is the entitlement of Diwakar's brother. Order a random woman for shikanji, start drinking whiskey and refuse it, drink it out of pity and then make SEVERAL comments about how bad it is.

It is not about Richa being asked to not work - it is about discarding her passion as a "hobby", sasurji asking a grown woman not to go for an interview and ignoring her as she stands in the corner waiting to be ALLOWED to go.

It is not about Diwakar wanting those videos removed - it is about him crushing her passion, her life's work, fuelling his insecurities about his wife "dancing" and the tone - he could have made her understand why her videos made him feel uncomfortable (which is still shitty but okay) instead of giving her an ultimatum - "If you want to live in this house, you have to follow its rules".

It is not about dealing with that grumpy witch of an aunt - it is about her irritation just because Richa is a new-generation bahu. It is about her singing praises of karwa-chauth at the expense of her own health, secretly showing Richa's dance videos to sasurji and making that rude-ass comment about Richa tasting food while cooking which could have been communicated in a much-nicer, non-bitchfaced way.

It is not about opposing karwa chauth - it is about the scene where sasurji praises karwa chauth tradition for its healing properties while HOGGING on food that the women have prepared. Dont fasts have healing effects on men too?

It is not about giving feedback - it is the constant backhanded comments that Diwakar and sasurji make about her cooking, Diwakar asking his MIL (Richa's mom) if she had taught her daughter how to make halwa, Sasurji eating all the biriyani and then saying "Namak kam hai".

It is not about eating breakfast together - it is about the inherent, ingrained, internalized sexism - women eating food off their husband's dirty plates, women getting to eat AFTER their husbands have eaten because they do not "go to clinic".

It is not about Diwakar being late in calling a plumber - it is about him using "being a busy doctor" as a facade to ignore ANY household responsibility. At least tell her where to call a plumber from in this locality? It is about him being blind to her having to put her hand into dirty dish water and scoop out gunk.

It is not about Diwakar skipping lunch one time - it is about his manchild behaviour because lunch was late ONE TIME. He ate fried food from outside, he goes out to parties - but that one day, he could not have eaten a salad or something "healthy" and despite being a doctor, survived on "6 cups of coffee". Incompetent manchild.

It is not about giving Richa rest during periods - it is about him being a doctor and believing that a woman should not enter kitchen during periods. So what? I am on my period so I cannot make myself a yummy sandwich? How is that giving me any rest? It is not about rest, IT IS NEVER ABOUT REST IT IS ABOUT POLLUTING PERIOD BLOOD.

People have simplified the movie's criticism as -
Housewife did not want to do house work so she got divorce
Housewife has everything she wants but still expects more from hardworking doctor husband
women do not want to do housework anymore they don't make em like that anymore.

This movie is a warning for all those girls who think marriage is the be-all-end-all of their lives, neglecting their career, passion, freedom and happiness in the process.

Reviews I just saw Shaitaan and I would like to say two things. Spoiler

1: This movie shouldn't have had a happy ending, maybe it should have first tricked us thinking Ajay Devgan won only to realise that he lost (I am not gonna name it but one VERY famous hollywood film did something like it). Or maybe a simple gut wrenching tragic ending.

(If you can show a kid being thrown over the roof then you can definitely end the movie tragically)

Maybe the villain wins with the plot twist of the girl's mother being involved all along. Whatever just not a happy ending.

2: R Madhavan's acting was so good that I disliked Ajay Devgan's acting. It was way too unbalanced, Ajay Devgan was too outshined. Or maybe the director failed to capture Ajay's good acting.

Reviews Watched sarfarosh for the first time today

Where to start? Let’s start with what I didn’t like.

These are minor things here and there, and I think they fit the time it was released, but looking at it from a 2025 Gen Z lens, it’s kinda meh? I guess. Like, the song transitions or some voice and sound sync issues—but that could just be a problem with the video on YouTube. And let’s be real, it was 1999.

Also, the ending felt like it was gearing up for a part two. That Adivasi tribal people thing? It just flew out the window. The movie literally started because of them and the whole wedding party massacre, but they barely came up again—especially in front of Aamir. Like, no direct confrontation or anything.

Why wasn’t there a part two?

And I think that’s it.

What surprised me?

Ajay (Aamir) didn’t pursue his crush after he felt rejected. In my experience of watching old movies, I’ve always felt like male actors act like beggars—out-and-out desperate in such situations. But he didn’t. That was kinda surprising.

The whole Muslim/Islam commentary—man, as a Muslim, I really felt connected and represented well. Honestly, it was really uplifting.

Acting?

Not gonna lie, but IMO, throughout the movie, Mukesh was better than Aamir. And Nasir was better than Aamir too.

Aamir was great, but these two guys just acted so well—especially Mukesh. Now, I could say this isn’t because of my bias or my relatability angle, but honestly, I don’t know. I usually know what I feel, but I just loved Salim (Mukesh).

That last act between Aamir and Nasir? A masterclass. A beautiful example of how two experienced artists can have differences purely because of the length of their experience.

Nasir outshined him. Aamir looked like a rookie, and I could really feel his nervousness.

That whole stage scene—just a direct confrontation between the two? Dialogue to dialogue? It felt straight out of a play, and I’m not mad at it.

But I really loved Amir in angry young man fit

The actress

She was so cute. I don’t know what people think about the whole lovey-dovey thing in a thriller—especially this one—but I loved it. I even caught myself blushing.

That whole college chase was adorable.

But yeah, she didn’t really have an important role or anything. And honestly, I don’t know how I feel about that.

On one hand, I kinda hate how she was just a filler. But I also get why she was just a filler? It was the 90s, and a love angle was considered important. And to have some good songs, you needed a story for it.

So, hence, the love story.

And honestly, the whole recap at the end came together really well because of it.

What do you guys think?

The rest of the cast—whether it was the goons, the police, or the family—everyone acted really well.

I also loved the references! (I’m reading Dongri to Dubai—it’s about six decades of the Mumbai mafia.) The references to Mumbai’s underworld—like Rajan, etc.—were sick. But I initially thought he’d have a bigger role? I guess they didn’t want the movie to become something it’s not.

And I guess that's all of my thoughts

What do you guys think?

Did any of you catch in the theater in 1999? How was your experience?? Tell me all of it
