Hey everyone,
Just a quick reminder that this subreddit is all about Calgary and Calgary-related topics. While we absolutely support Canadian businesses, our focus here is on our city and the businesses that make it thrive.
With the current trade tensions with the U.S., many people are looking to support local instead. To keep things on-topic and Calgary-focused, we’re putting together a list of Calgary-based producers and businesses so people can easily find and support local options.
How You Can Help: • If you own or know of a Calgary-based business that produces goods locally, let us know in the comments! • We’re looking for food, clothing, home goods, crafts, specialty products, and more—as long as it’s made in Calgary. • If there’s a Calgary-made alternative to an American brand, share it!
This isn’t about limiting support for Canadian businesses overall—it’s about keeping discussions within the scope of our subreddit while still helping people shop local. Let’s work together to create a great resource for supporting Calgary-based producers.
Drop your recommendations in the comments!

Driving southbound on Macleod Trail when a black SUV suddenly turned left from the third lane, cutting off the car in front of me and nearly getting t-boned. It then almost hit a pedestrian in the crosswalk. Sorry for the language, I really thought that poor kid was going to get hit. He got so lucky!

Hi all.
A member of my family, let’s call them “Alex” to ensure anonymity, has recently put in an order from this seller, Marina Colley with Cutiescakesyyc, and she fully tried to scam us.
Here’s the story:
She requested Alex to send a 50% deposit for a cake Alex ordered for their child’s 18th birthday prior to pickup. This policy is completely fair and protects small businesses from potential scams.
However, when the time came to have the cake delivered, she requested that Alex pays in full before she comes to deliver the cake. This was the first red flag because how can you ask a customer to pay the full price of a product you haven’t even sent pictures of when there’s a high chance you could be scamming them? Her company does not have any online presence besides a TikTok and Instagram page.
Anyway, Alex decided to request a pickup instead of delivery to avoid the potential of getting scammed. When Alex requested, Marina said that was fine and she would be “going to Edmonton” and would be back at 7pm (despite posting on TikTok during this time).
Once she was “back in Calgary”, Alex sent her a message asking for the address to head over and pick up the cake. Upon request, Marina aggressively turned down giving Alex her address and said Alex must send the full payment via e-transfer and then Marina will give the address.
Again, how does it make sense to request a full payment before showing the customer that the product they’ve ordered exists? Alex requested to go to Marina’s place, see the cake, and then send her an e-transfer, to which she refused and blocked Alex, ultimately ending the transaction whilst keeping the $40 from the initial 50% payment.
If you were planning on entrusting Cutiescakesyyc with any orders, do not, because you will get scammed. I’ve tried commenting on her posts but she immediately deletes my comments so this is a final resort.

A little while ago I was a victim of a road rage incident where the person in this video got out of their car, smashed my passenger side mirror, and yelled some nasty slurs. Unfortunately, there’s no audio because my phone was connected to Bluetooth at the time.
I reported the incident to Calgary Police but the license plate in the video was stolen from another truck, so they weren't able to do much with it.
Last I saw this car, it was driving into Applewood SE.
I did some digging and found photos of the same person under a fake profile, but no name or real info.
If you recognize him, please call Calgary Police non-emergency line at 403-266-1234, case #24296582.

I am hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction. Our Japanese homestay student left a small bag/pouch on the direct West jet flight from Narita - Calgary on Friday, April 4. He is sure he left it on the plane but he returned to the check in counter and someone went to find it- to no avail. He also went back to the airport yesterday and checked with airport police - again to no avail. Not sure if there are any West Jet employees out there or airport security that might be able to point me in the right direction. It is a tough way to start a homestay for the poor kid. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks so much, all!

Fellow Calgary pizzaiolo; I just got myself an outdoor pizza oven, and am shopping around for ingredients to make an authentic Neapolitan margherita pizza. I got my Caputo “00” blue flour and my favorite tomatoes, and now just looking for a good authentic fresh mozzarella.
What locally-available brands of fresh mozzarella do people recommend? I checked Lina’s and all they had was regular low-moisture, and waterlogged fior di latte and di buffalo imported from Italy and ready to expire.
Anyone have a favorite brand of fresh mozzarella suitable for Neapolitan-style pizza, that’s preferably not soaked in brine water (trying to avoid a soupy pizza), is legit fresh, and is readily available in Calgary grocery stores?
Edit Also I’m familiar with low-moisture cheese sold in bricks or balls (e.g. Saputo Mozzarellissima), and I usually get that stuff when I make NY, Greek, or pub-style pizzas. But the one I’m looking for is what the Italians call “fior di latte”, which is fresh cow’s milk cheese, suitable for Neapolitan style. Here we just call it “fresh mozzarella” and it’s normally sold packed in brine water, although you have to drain/strain those ones to avoid a soupy pizza. I’ve read that you can get fresh mozzarella packed in less brine, but have no idea what brands are available here.

Any recommendation for a cozy/romantic place to stay for a weekend night that isn’t a hotel or someone’s Airbnb either within the city or not too far outside the city (not in Canmore/Banff)?

My wife and I are planning to come to Calgary for our first trip to the Stampede. My wife is handicapped and has to go to dialysis. I’ve started arranging her dialysis sessions and accommodations so far but when I went online to the Stampede website almost all the seats are gone. There are designated handicap seating areas but I couldn’t see the actual seats to select. How can I get tickets or is it too late for us?

So I let my neighbor borrow my camera that my late mother gave me so she could take pictures of her kids in swim lessons and her husband donated it to the beacon Hill Goodwill this week. I went there and it was sold apparently within the last 2-3 days. I am reaching at straws and hoping that someone who bought it might see this post and will contact me so I can buy it back from them cuz it really means a lot to me because my mom gave me this camera . I have been unable to buy a replacement purple one because it was a limited edition. the camera is a fujifilm finepix xp80 waterproof camera.

Idk if this is the right place but I went to market mall with my mom and witnessed (I think) a hit and run in the parking lot. I got a picture of both their license plates (the car who got hit and the person who hit them). I feel bad for the car that got hit + have no idea who they are but if coincidentally they see this I have the license plate of the car that hit you !
The hit happened around 1:10 PM, we literally just walked out of the Hudson Bay and heard a weird nose. Lo and behold we saw the actual hit 💀

Any great bison jerkey in town? Im comming to town on monday and usually stock up on baur farms bison jerkey at the farmers market but it isn't open Monday. Any other options?
I’m 5’4 ~105lbs. Lost a lot of weight over the past 2 years and I’m really struggling to find clothing that fits nicely. The smallest size is often still too big or fits weird. Any suggestions?
