Heavy disagree. Buying gold is just acquiring in-game currency, while paying someone to play your character is pretending to be better than you actually are. One is convenience; the other is deception.

If you needed that gold and didn't have it, you'd have to play to get it. So you're paying for someone to gain you the gold you didn't play to get. That's exactly the same thing Elon is doing. The only difference is Elon is having them play his character, while you're having them play their character and then transfer the item to you.

You're describing the mechanics, but not the intent. Buying gold is skipping effort to get a resource. Elon paying someone to be him isn't about gaining something, it’s about presenting something. One’s a shortcut in a system, the other’s outsourcing identity. Totally different motivations.

No it isn’t, pretending to be someone you aren’t and buying gold aren’t the same thing lol.

Buying power in any way or form is the same via items or gold. Paying someone to do it for you is the equivalent of paying someone to do it for you.

See what I did there?

It literally is though. You’re someone without the time/patience to have the money to buy the items you want and you’re paying someone to pretend you are

It was about gaining material and currency without doing the work so he could skip right to doing the top end content.
