I think that OP left out some important context in their meme. It's not just that someone was paid to play his character, but he paid to have his character boosted and maintained at a top 10 spot in the leaderboard.

I think that both issues are similar in nature, because they are both about cutting corners / cheating the system. However, making gold in WoW is something that everyone who plays the game should be able to do with X amount of time invested. Whereas being a top 10 hardcore PoE and/or Diablo player is not something that is accessible to everyone. One mistake and your character is gone, so I think that is more of a "skill" flex.

I think that better equivalencies would be boosting to top spot on Diablo/PoE and boosting to top ELO in LoL or OW.
