Has the patch today helped the queue at all on megaservers? Or am I looking at a 4 hour wait come 5pm?

Benediction at 273 minutes right now.

New player here. I got to level 70 last evening but now I’m lost. I looked for guidance on you tube but most of it addresses experienced or returning players, preparing for wotlk.

I don’t really know where to go from here. Apparently, a bunch of good items are locked behind fraction reputation (of which I know basically nothing, except doing dailies). But is that even worth the effort with wotlk at the horizon? Also, is there any purpose to do dungeons? It’s a part of the game I like a lot, especially when there is story behind. But running through them without purpose is a little bland.

I also dipped a toe into battlegrounds but as I understand it, both factions bypass each other and just speed run the objective. Am I missing something?

Is there anything else to do? I would have loved to experience the tbc raids but I don’t think I will work my way up there in time.

Join a guild, preferably a guild that does raids. Let them guide you.

  1. Get Honored with all the factions that sell keys to Heroic dungeons. That's Honor Hold/Thrallmar for Hellfire Citadel, Cenarion Expedition for Serpentshrine, Lower City for Auchindoun and Sha'tar for Tempest Keep. During this grind you will also gain some gear to start off with. You get this reputation by running the relevant dungeons and you need Honored reputation to buy the keys.

  2. Buy said Heroic keys and start grinding heroics for gear and badges to buy more gear for. Every heroic boss awards 1 badge and there's also a daily quest in Shatt that rewards 2. By now you should also look into getting the Magisters Terrace attunement quest done, which is pretty much just a Normal mode run. The gear in there is pretty amazing for a dungeon.

  3. Start raiding quickly. Sign up to every Karazhan, Mags Lair, Gruuls Lair and Zul'aman you can find and try to get a spot. You can only run these once a week (except ZA which has a 4 day reset, check the in game calendar for the exact date) so make sure to get them done. The gear in there is better than from Heroics and you will also get badges. With the reduced difficulty (raid bosses have -30% hp and damage) from prepatch, people take pretty much anyone who can show up on time. Look up the gear ahead of time so you know what to reserve so you're not holding up the entire raid while searching for the biggest available upgrade. The site Eightyupgrades is a massive help for this.

Wows pvp is shit and has always been compared to other MMOs. I've never bothered much with it.

9

u/notthatkindoforc1121 Sep 06 '22

Wows pvp is shit

I've never bothered much with it.

Uhh, anyway

PvP is the best way to gear up right now without contest, it's not remotely close.

Don't give a newbie bad advice because you don't like PvP.

3

u/AnonymousAligator Sep 06 '22

Lmfao sitting in AV for a few days vs that laundry list of shit that dude just typed out, there's a clear cut winner here, and this is it.

2

u/Cohacq Sep 06 '22

laundry list of shit that dude just typed out

Is that what you call playing the game? I described the intended progression.

2

u/MudSama Sep 06 '22

Is there still risk of 30 day ban for PvPing while under geared?

1

u/notthatkindoforc1121 Sep 06 '22

There was never a risk of that. There's just a large banwave of people AFKing AV that Blizzard has largely reverted. We don't know if they decided the punishments were too harsh, if they were done to innocent players, etc.

But it is not bannable to be undergeared lol, just participate

-3

u/Cohacq Sep 06 '22 edited Sep 06 '22

By that I mean I tried it and quickly realised the MMO I played before Wow, Dark age of Camelot, had a much superior Pvp system and I found Wows very lacking. Everything is very small scale and the instanced nature of it means a victory doesnt actually mean anything for the world at large.

Yes, pvp gear is easy to get but as I didnt even mention that gear (I was talking about the experience of actually doing the stuff) I don't see how your point is relevant. Over the last decade or so I've become a 100% PvE player so that's where my experience is and where I can give advice. I'm not going to try to give advice on a part of the game I don't participate in.

ITT: Pvp players upset some people don't like a lackluster pvp system.

Will there be too many paladins endgame in WotLK? I mainly want to do raiding endgame but I’m worried that pally is so FOTM that it will be hard to find raid spots. I haven’t played classic before now, is this something I should be worried about? Mainly interested in healing

3

u/rawr_bomb Sep 06 '22

I think healers will always have a place. Most the FOTM pallies are going ret or Prot. The prots wont all find a raid spot, and rets are gonna compete heavily with DKs and Fury warriors, so a few of them might reroll.

3

u/ClosertothesunNA Sep 06 '22

It will probably be slightly competitive. I base this on surveys that say that 8% of all players want to play holy pally, 6-7% of all players want to play ret, and 5-6% of all players want to play prot. Raids want 2 holy pallies which would be 8%, but they don't want as many rets or prots (usually just one each which would be 4%, although some suggest raids want ZERO rets, that prolly only applies to the particularly sweaty raids), so some of those might end up swapping specs to holy. Some will also reroll or quit or just pvp, though. So I think we end up with an excess of holy pallies, but in a spot still where something like 4 out of 5 people who want a raid spot as a holy pally can get one (vs. like ret, I think about half the people who want to raid as ret will find they can't).

3

u/hesitationz Sep 06 '22

What survey? I find it surprising that most paladin players want to play holy lol

3

u/Pinewood74 Sep 06 '22

Hard to do a survey like this that won't have selection bias and I wouldn't be surprised that the bias would be towards healers. People that hang around forums are more likely to play in-demand specs and healers are pretty much always in demand.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/[deleted] Sep 06 '22

If you play a healer of any class you will always have raidspots from my experience. Retdreamers will find it hard to get spots, and most guilds will have prots filled in from the start so if you were a prot player you'd probably be best off running pugs.

1

u/Cuddlesthemighy Sep 06 '22

Ret maybe, Prot will probably be fine, and Holy should be welcome in more raids than the other two specs

I thought Wotlk were launching 00.00 night between Sunday and Monday (EU). But now I read this at Blizzards homepage: Europe (CEST): September 27 at 12:00 AM.

So it will launch between Monday and Tuesday (00.00) in EU?

u/MutedKiwi Sep 06 '22

Can anyone explain to me what's actually happening with the servers at the moment?

I played retail WoW between TBC - > Cata and then Classic between the end of 'Classic Original' and the start of TBC Classic and didn't have any problems with queueing.

Now the expansion I really want to play is re-releasing I'm tempted to start playing again. However, all I see in this sub is people moaning about 3 hour + queues to play. From what I can gather it looks like they've merged most (all?) servers into one which therefore means there is usually a 10,000 queue just to play?

When I look on Ironforge.Pro it still shows severs of approx 3,000 people so now I'm extra confused. I've only had a break of less than a year but feel like I've lost all knowledge of the game/servers in particular.

FYI, I'm EU, preferably Horde, preferably PvE and wondering what the best server would be?

1

u/Ivoryyyyyyyyyy Sep 06 '22

People flocked to megaservers, pikachu.jpg when they caused the problems with the queue. During the classic->TBC transition, this did not happen on such a large scale.

I will correct my fellow redditor above: you will see queue probelms in EU TZ as well, specifically on Gehennas and Thekal.

So I heard it’s possible to level through bg’s now but are there any items to purchase with honor from 61-69? Like what does item progression look like during those levels?

2

u/Obelion_ Sep 06 '22

No you don't get any new items. Spam AV and safe all honor for 70. Be aware of the 75k cap.

You'll get farmed pretty hard, just stick with the zerg and don't get tilted by getting onehit by a fully geared lvl 70

dual spec is already in the game, it costs 1k gold

3

u/TaytosAreNice Sep 06 '22

Do Icy Talons and the improved stack? So you'd get 20% haste then another 20%

2

u/Cohacq Sep 06 '22

Buffs of the same type do not stack. So two of the same buffs (as in your case) doesnt do anything, and 2 haste buffs (icy talons + Windfury for example) wont stack either.

Can someone link me/tell me what average green northrend drops will look like in terms of stats? Like an average level 71-72 2 hand weapon? I am trying to decide if I should "gear" my fresh 70 dk or just tough it out until wotlk launch. The gear I can get now is a big upgrade to my leveling gear but I don't know if it's worth spending hours grinding for gear that I won't need in 4 weeks. I am not planning on raiding or anything during TBC, but I can't seem to google my way to northrend gear.

Thanks!!

3

u/notthatkindoforc1121 Sep 06 '22

The fresh green drops are like, 154 or something.

To give you an idea though, most Brutal gear can last you 75-78 depending on your spec, and if you Gem or Enchant it it'll likely last 78-80

As a Feral, my Brutal will last to 78 before I see upgrades, then anything I have enchanted will last to 80.

2

u/Khalku Sep 06 '22

Brutal is pretty shit for priests, not a single bit of spirit. I can see most priests dropping as soon as they find a similar ilvl piece with int/spi/spellpower.

Anyone know why I can't use auctioneer or auctionator? Just started again after a few years and both are broken for me.

3

u/Parsleymagnet Sep 06 '22
  1. If the issue is that the addons are very slow and failing to find/ post auctions, then the reason is because Blizzard seems to have recently restricted addons' access to AH information, and the addons haven't been updated yet to work at the slower speeds they now have access to

  2. If the issue is that the addons aren't appearing in the game at all, then you're either using the wrong version (make sure it's a version that's labeled as being for Wrath Classic or 3.4.0, not for TBC Classic or Shadowlands or Wrath 3.3.5) or you're not downloading the addons to the correct place (make sure the folder, not the zip file, is located in World of Warcraft/_classic_/Interface/AddOns)

Diseases aren’t dispellable if unholy blight is up (debuff from death coil talent), and most dks in pvp will likely be unholy and have that talent.

is it normal for bagnon to lag and slightly freeze your game when you click the "cleanup" button?

4

u/Brutillis Sep 06 '22

Yes

2

u/DarkusHydranoid Sep 06 '22

Hey, thank you very much.

2

u/leshist Sep 06 '22

what does cleanup button do?

2

u/DarkusHydranoid Sep 06 '22

It sorts your inventory. It does it in a different order than Blizzard would, but once you get used to it, it's quite fun.

2

u/leshist Sep 06 '22

gonna have to check it thanks

u/Melathan Sep 06 '22

How fast is dungeons vs questing really right now? Lets say I either run the restedxp route or insta-group as a healer in mostly spellcleaves? Getting many conflicted opinions.

4

u/hesitationz Sep 06 '22

Depends on your server pop really. With the amount of death knights it’s hard to get quest mobs in Outland. I leveled my priest 60-70 on Whitemane getting instant groups as a healer and it was surprisingly quick

2

u/slothman-sleuth Sep 06 '22

Questing is better with running dungeons one time to knock out quests. With pvp and amount of players on fresh factored in dungeon grinding is better at certain points imo ie SM spam 35-40, ZF spam 44-49

2

u/leshist Sep 06 '22

i’d say its really depending on zone/party in your dungeon or you can flat solo some dungeons as some specs

what you can do is install some addon that tracks xp/hour and see for yourself

2

u/leshist Sep 06 '22

do i need to level proffesions past 350? or i will be able to do stuff with 350 in northrend, guides say that yes just wanted to clarify if they are outdated

mining/jc at least

3

u/hesitationz Sep 06 '22

Level them now, mining nodes are going to be near impossible to get during wrath, and the mats to level JC are going to be extremely expensive

0

u/leshist Sep 06 '22

sad miner noises

do you happen to know if there will be dungeons with mining nodes?

i guess rushing to flying would be a secret to mine a lot at first week?

2

u/hesitationz Sep 06 '22

From what I can remember the dungeon nodes in wrath are a lot harder to get to than classic/tbc

2

u/fareco Sep 06 '22

350 is fine, though mining might be nice to take to 375.

2

u/Torakaa Sep 06 '22

You can start in Northrend at 350. You may still want to go to 375 as more skill gained now is less skill needed later, especially on Mining. Jewelcrafting has very cheap and simple recipes to go from 350 to 375 in Wrath, but they will probably still be more expensive than cutting a bunch of Talasites that are almost vendor price right now.

u/DarkusHydranoid Sep 06 '22

Feel very dumb asking this; lvl 51 Druid, how do I learn Heart of the Wild!? I unlocked it in the skill tree but I went to a trainer and it wasn't a spell I could learn? Am I missing something very easy?

5

u/Drife98 Sep 06 '22

Have you checked your spellbook? Maybe it got added when you specced it.

3

u/Wangchief Sep 06 '22

If you look in your spellbook it'll list Heart of the Wild as a passive ability, since all it does in classic is increase stats, you don't have to learn it at the trainer.

Best Cat Feral glyphs for leveling and WPvP while leveling?

2

u/christmasbooyons Sep 06 '22

Has Blizzard commented on achievements not being announced? I know some don't like it, but I personally enjoy seeing what other people are doing.

3

u/notthatkindoforc1121 Sep 06 '22

I haven't seen anything. I got the Attune addon and it announces them for me

2

u/[deleted] Sep 06 '22

Do you think blizzard would ever truly consider classic+, I know vanilla classic is done and over, sadly I was ill at the time and missed out. I didn't play until much later in the games expansions. So the chance to play classic I utterly missed out on and a lot of experiences.

But as I got better there was controversy from raids too simple and classes and I know deep down without substantial change no one would want to relive classic vanilla right after SoM again.

Should I just give up on hope for this?

3

u/Drife98 Sep 06 '22

I think there will be a new SOM for classic later on (after Wrath is done), but its not guaranteed. Either hope for that or find a nice pserver.

2

u/xxthearrow Sep 06 '22

Dumb question related to the upcoming zombie plague event. I get if you get infected and become a zombie you get to run around infecting players and npcs etc. But if you become a zombie is that it then for that character until the 13th or whenever the "cure" comes out??? Like there's no way to undo it once you are a zombie? I missed it the first time around and have found little info regarding actually becoming a zombie.

Thanks!

2

u/lameth Sep 06 '22

Nope. Once you die as a zombie (or get cured by a pc/npc) you'll go back to "normal."

2

u/MudMountain64 Sep 06 '22

I have a 52 retadin that now, after prepatch, is easily capable of pulling and defeating 5+ mobs in one go. So, instead of questing, I've considered just farming mobs that drop valuable mats; vendoring greys and auctioning mats would make more $$ than quest rewards, since everyone is leveling professions now and demand is through the roof for rare mats.

My first thought was fire elementals in central Un'Goro and then earth elementals in NW Silithus. I figure elementals would be a good choice but maybe there's a better option...

Anyone know of any other good farming spots for rare drop-only mats?

4

u/rawr_bomb Sep 06 '22

I would just get to 70 and start running dailies. Likely better GPH. Also at 70 you can solo some easy dungeons for like 100gph.

Does your player race affect how big the radius is on your blade storm if you are a warrior?

2

u/Torakaa Sep 06 '22

If you are not a Tauren: No.

If you ARE a Tauren: Iunno probably. Our secret (and actually best) racial is to have a slightly larger melee range which also increases Whirlwind reach, so it would stand to reason it also affects Bladestorm.

Tips on how to level an affliction warlock?

4

u/[deleted] Sep 06 '22

Warlock is probably the most intricate class when it comes to bad vs good warlock leveler. No matter what build you play you really want to learn how to properly utilise life tap and drain life and juggle dots on 2-3 targets at all times, even while running from quest to quest

Can anybody point me to a guide on hit rating in WOTLK Classic? I haven't played since original classic and I was wondering if it works the same?

Playing a feral druid and want to know how much hit rating I need.

2

u/Kododie Sep 06 '22

8% I don't remember what it is in rating. 17% for spells, not a big concern for feral there's a glyph for taunt. This is without raid debuffs and draenei in party.

Ive always been a warrior main I just dont wanna go into WOTLK and not be...desirable? I have no guild

2

u/Escolyte Sep 07 '22

The trade off between blood dk and prot warrior (at least in the early phases) are that prot deals a lot more damage, is an amazing dungeon tank due to better AoE threat but will suffer in raid durability where a blood dk will shine.

Personally I'm going to stick to prot warrior and keep an eye on new developments from theory crafters and high-end community. Warriors will be less desired, but considering the oversaturation of DKs I don't think it will be a big deal.

4

u/godlessgamergirl Sep 06 '22

Blizzard throttled the AH a while back, and with the pre-patch, specifically throttled it for addons: https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/classic-inefficient-ah-addons-ah-lag-and-bad-default-ah-ui-all-connected/1274174/2

u/portablemailbox Sep 06 '22

Glyphs + people’s hoarded mats/items for prepatch have pretty much doubled the number of auctions on most servers.

2

It got throttled, probably because the servers were about to catch fire.

It seems there is way more traffic than the servers can handle

1

u/[deleted] Sep 06 '22

Where plague?

1

u/dewwhatyouwant Sep 07 '22

Even with the xp buff I find myself out of quests early for zones. I’m having to grind mobs or go to other zones to make up the lack of xp needed for leveling. Is that right?

3

u/-Aeryn- Sep 07 '22

or go to other zones to make up the lack of xp

In these expansions you had to quest in many zones in order to level up. Going from 20-30 for example it'd be normal to spend time in all three of Duskwood, Hillsbrad and Wetlands.

With the exp buff you can frequently skip zones but you still need to do multiple within certain level ranges, sometimes even back-and-forth in order to make the most out of them.

2

u/DarkishFriend Sep 07 '22

That doesn't sound right at all. Do you still have the 50% buff on your character?

My experience leveling on a fresh server was out leveling zones before finishing all the quests. There were quite a few quests I abandoned from simply being too big a pain in the ass.

2

u/ClosertothesunNA Sep 07 '22

That is really weird. You're probably skipping a lot of quests and zones, do you have questie?

0

u/oddistrange Sep 07 '22

With the XP buff yeah probably.

This weekend I hit 70 on my 3 characters: prot war, bear druid, blood tank DK. They are all Nagrand geared. I really just want to do some tanking. Heroics at minimum, but maybe a 10 man. I would like to minimize PvP (especially with the ban wave) but understand I might need a few pieces.

What should be the bare minimum I should pursue from PvP on each character before I'm H-MGT or Kara ready, whichever requires less of tanks?

Edit: I know PvP gear is best, just wondering the bare minimum needed.

Edit 2: Thank you all. Some good info here.

2

u/notthatkindoforc1121 Sep 06 '22

I know you said you'd like to avoid PvP, but it really is by far the best way to gear right now, it's not even remotely close to compare PvE alternatives unless you have unlimited gold to get carried in GDKPs (And even then I'd still suggest decking out in all pvp gear)

Just stay active in BGs, don't AFK on noob-hill, etc.

That being said, PvP gear is also great for tanks, especially Bear. After getting some pieces, pref Weapon or Weapon/Shield first, you'll be good to go in Heroics. If you get a full set of PvP gear you'll demolish the heroics and Kara, though.

Fresh 70s can tank Kara. But the hard part will be finding a group that will bring you along.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 06 '22

The season 4 gear is better than 99.9% of all the gear in the game, but it will require a few days farming honor. If you get that, you can do anything. If you don’t want to pvp, you are surely able to tank heroics and Kara right now. They are ridiculously easy nowadays. Your only issue will be finding a group that doesn’t mind you’re not geared out. Make some friends

Is there a special place in hell for fresh 70 boosted characters with 5k HP that queue for BGs that aren't AV?

I think they're fun to one shot

3

Yeah, can you imagine players trying to play the game? The audacity!

-3

The boosts are dog shit. All it does is flood the game with 10% shit tier players and the other 90% become farming bots.

Hunter pvp main hand/off hand or two-handed? I can get both axes for 2850 honor each and there are another set for 9500 honor each and the two-hand axe is 19,000 honor. It makes sense to go with the cheaper MH/OH axes to me. Should I just do that or save up for the 2h/more expensive axes. From my understanding I shouldn't really be using melee as a hunter so the melee weapons are just for stats. Orc race so get axe specialization as racial.

Edit: Both axes are brutal gladiator season 4 just the 2850 ones are just a couple points worse than the 9500 ones.

How good is the pvp gear compared to the raiding gear you can get currently? Should I just be doing pvp if I am a fairly new player?

2

u/Wangchief Sep 06 '22

It's good, especially considering the mainstat/spellpower itemization on it. You'd be fine walking into sunwell in mostly Brutal Gladiator gear, and it will carry you for a few levels into Wrath for sure.

Don't expect it to last until Naxx, you'll likely replace it before then.

When you get death gripped in a BG, is there much to do besides shrug and wait for the GY rez?

2

u/MudSama Sep 06 '22

You can get out via: disengage, intervene, feral charge, shadow step, vanish, rocket boots, sprint, various stuns, fear bomb, living action potion, blind, other incapacitates. There are plenty of ways to leave a pack or a solo DK that doesn't involve killing them. Provided you don't have 3 DG chaining you.

Basically questing, exploration and small group dungeons is the content I'm aiming for.

2

u/RickusRollus Sep 06 '22

It will likely be okay. It might get hot though, you should get a powered cooling pad, one that connects with USB to the laptop to keep it cooler and running smoother. Also you may want to fully close any background programs while playing to free up resources

Is it worth to do BGs for exp and get some honor along the way or probably only worth to do it from 60-70?

3

u/wayedorian Sep 06 '22

I would save the BG grind for 60-70. It's shit XP but the honor is good if you'd like to get a pvp set before release

2

u/Clayney0 Sep 06 '22

Depends a lot on how long the queue takes to find a game. Remember that you'll always be back at the NPC when you leave the BG, so it can be pretty hard to get quests done inbetween.

2

u/RickusRollus Sep 06 '22

Its certainly less XP than questing but its not BAD xp and the gear you get with the honor is superb. Ideally if you can play a healing spec, do that to provide the most value to your team. Join AV, make sure bunkers get capped, make sure balinda/galv die. Every bunker capped is about 7.5k XP, general dead 7.5k XP, and at the end of the game if your bunkers are NOT capped, thats 7.5k XP. Plus bonus for if you win. So, a fully flushed win with all your bunkers alive, all enemy bunkers dead and the W is a FAT chunk of XP, though that kind of game is quite rare.

There are also quests you can get at the AV world queue location in Tarren Mill, and some quests in your teams fortress. These reward a good chunk of xp for things like assault GY flag, Assault tower, the banner quest.

what heroics can I run for some gear? I tried hellfire ramparts but you need honored to get the key. Not sure if other instances are the same?

All heroics require Honored with a specific rep and the key from their associated quartermaster except for H MGT, which only requires you to complete a quest telling you to beat it on normal

For gold I was told to "do dailies", but not sure where I can pick those up.

Quel'Denas. The port to it is in the center of Shatt, it's the portal that's by itself.

daily PVP matches for some honor and pvp gear? where do I buy (horde) gear from honor?

You can buy it in multiple places, Brutal everything (The best gear) can be bought in Eastern Shatt in the lower city, the vendor will be surrounded by loads of people

Any quest chains I can complete, stash in my log book and turn in once wrath drops for a little headstart?

Yes, any 25 quests you'd think would be easy turnins. Quel Denas dailies for starter, but after that whatever you think would be fast turn-ins. XP varies but I doubt you're that hardcore about it

Longtime Druid main. I’ve mainly played Resto or Balance for the past 15ish years, but checking out Wrath Classic (started in original Wrath) I’ve decided to main Feral. I joined one of the fresh servers and it’s been great! Now my question: if I maintain a set of Healing focused gear, how long can I realistically heal leveling dungeons?

2

u/hippoofdoom Sep 06 '22

depends on a few things but at least into outland.

If tank is well geared its a lot easier

Bring mana pots

Be ready to aggressively pop your innervate

Stack as much int+spi as you can at first, then +heal becomes more accesible once you hit outland.

maintain hots at all times, since you have no 'oh shit' button you probably have to be precasting healing touch and cancelling if it isnt needed.

You can do it, but you have very few cooldown abilities. if you're horde, consider bear charging in and warstomp as it basically causes zero threat and does a nice AOE stun. Also since you're feral you can go bear and tank a little bit if it's really shit and let your own HP pool soak some damage possibly.

2

u/PilsnerDk Sep 06 '22

Not sure about druid, but on my enhancement shaman alt, I've been even able to heal Ramparts, BF, SP and UB with some spellpower gear. If you get a tank that's a bit overpowered (and preferably a Death Knight), it's easy.

Currently Engi/Mining but wanna go Engi/JC in Wrath.

2

u/Skorgeh0475 Sep 06 '22

Definitely keep mining now and get all wotlk mats while leveling, then smelt/mail and unlearn mining for jc. Extra mats can be sold, buying them will be hard as a ton of people will be doing so

I’m currently leveling a Druid on a fresh server and am feral because it is supposedly the fastest leveling spec but ultimately want to be balance. Is there a level where balance becomes just as good as feral for leveling? Was thinking of maybe switching at lvl 40

2

u/RickusRollus Sep 06 '22

Its hard to beat the efficiency of feral, its just really useful because you can make use of mana for healing yourself, while focusing on physical dmg which has basically no resource constraints. It wont be just as good, but it wont be terrible, just more downtime drinking

2

u/notthatkindoforc1121 Sep 06 '22

It's a weird issue, but Feral actually isn't a great leveler from like, 40-60. Feral AP doesn't start getting added to your weapons until 58 (There's some ilvl threshhold, but basically starting Outlands gear), thus when gear starts to become important 35+ you really start to fall behind in damage. It's a good time to do Boomy.

To anyone that thinks this sounds weird, it wasn't a Vanilla/TBC issue, it's specific to some issues Feral has leveling in Wrath

To add to this, Boomkin will be your best leveler 60-80 as well. Not only does Boomy become an incredibly good leveler once Star Fall comes online, but Feral has some awkward issues with late abilities being vital to their damage (Savage Roar is either level 71 or 75, regardless it's really late and important) and Feral talents really don't hit everything they need until 80.

So yeah, Boomy at 40 is probably a fine switch.

2

u/fareco Sep 07 '22

40-42 is the levels you get pack and improved pack which gives you insane sustain, you will never be to drink as feral past these levels and you have no spellpower for Boomie.

So... I came back to Classic when the XP buff was released after taking over a year off (quit around AQ40). Decided to level an alliance character on Benediction, which seems like a really dumb move in retrospect... I'm strongly considering taking the free xfer to Sulfuras, but I noticed a problem - My old Horde main/alt were transferred to Sulfuras Horde when Herod was shut down a while back. Am I going to be screwed on the free xfer?
