DMT jobs

I am wondering about a career as a Dive Medical Technician in the commercial field.

I was a Combat Medic (68W) in the army for 9+ years, a certified EMT-B for 16, and was lucky enough to get sent to the DMT course run by SF (the ASI Q5 course). How well would the course transfer over to civilian side?

I know that military regs require a trained DMT on-site before they can put divers in the water. Can I assume the same would be true of commercial diving, at least from an insurance standpoint?

Also, I'm curious about the pay, job prospects, and what certifications I would need to pick up to make me eligible, and which ones are recommended to pickup to make me more competitive in the field and attractive to recruiters. I did enough military deployments to nor be bothered by the idea of being away from home for extended periods.

Any advice would be welcomed.

I’m looking to buy a drysuit and was wondering if anyone had recommendations. It has to be a membrane suit cause we do a lot of potable work.

Need advice

Hi, I hope you’re doing well. My name is Fahad, and I’m currently working in Saudi Arabia as an Administrative Assistant with a salary of 8000 SAR. I studied Business Administration with a focus on Financial Management.

Lately, I’ve been seriously considering shifting my career into commercial diving. I’m very interested in taking the IMCA-recognized training and then traveling to Egypt to complete an underwater welding course. The program includes surface-supplied diving, underwater cutting and welding, marine works, and first aid, along with several certifications like: • 50m Surface Supplied Air Certificate • Underwater Welding Certificate • IDSA Level 3 Card • ADCI Card • Kirby Morgan Equipment Operator Card • First Aid Certificate • Diving Logbook

I’m feeling a bit confused and would really appreciate any advice or insight from someone experienced in this field. Do you think this path is worth it in terms of job opportunities, especially in Saudi Arabia? And is it a good long-term investment?

Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Saturation/Deep divers, What’s the biggest or scariest animal you’ve seen at depth?

I know it’s very dark down there and light doesn’t help much, but have you ever had something huge or scary looking get close up on you? The thought of this scares the crap out of me

I am really considering going to MECD (MIddle East Commercial Diving)

I live in the middle east and the closest option for commercial diving school is MECD (Middle East Commercial Diving), however the problem is that the course isn't IMCA certified, they only have it IDSA level 3 certified, is that enough or should i look somewhere else? if i should, where is a good option?

Bail out bottle

Just got my wife a harness and bailout bottle for work. I wanted to strip the yellow paint and repaint it. Is there any rules that say it needs to be yellow or that it needs to be replaced hydro-tested after painting?

HSE & ADCI

Can an HSE surface supplied cert be transferred to ADCI easily? In addition to that, would it be wise for an American to go to dive school overseas to account for potential international work?

How many posts do there have to be about underwater welding until everyone figures out it’s 1% of the job 😂

Drivers licence before divers licence

Hello all I have an multiple holds on my drivers licence as well as 70000 in restitution to be able to hold a licence and am saving money for ocean corp housing and training. I was wondering if it would be wise to get certified before taking care of all the tickets and paying restitution in order to hold a drivers licence for it would take up all my money and then some to get my drivers licence back

Qatar OMF

Have any UK divers done all the extra tests for the Qatar offshore medical card recently (chest X-rays, blood tests etc)? Anywhere do it as a package? Cost? Seems an HSE dive medical isn’t enough

Is there any pros/cons to a front entry suit vs rear? I could see the harness putting pressure on the zipper as a possible issue, but has anybody actually experienced that?

Dive Work groups/vacancies

Hi guys, I’m a South African air diver and was wondering if there were dive work groups that posted vacancies for dive rotations & work available. I’d gladly appreciate any suggestions or available links for dive work as well, willing to travel anywhere IMCA regulated. Shot a lot 🍻

Gym/ running when you're dived out?

I probably average 2 dives in 3 days and nearly every time I leave the water completely dived out. I know the guidelines say not to work out too much after a long or deep dive but that would make it nearly impossible for me to train the way that I want (need) to. How do you guys find the balance? How high is the risk of training hard when you dive a lot?

how to prep for career in underwater diving

long story short, i've been interested in a diving career (welding specifically) since i was a kid, but now i'm 26 and only just in a spot to get things moving.

does anyone have any recommendations for physical workouts to get in or stay in proper shape for the demands of commercial diving? that's my main concern and i don't really have a good idea where to start, though I imagine swimming/cardio are a big part.

Wind Farms

Just checking if anyone here has any experience on wind farms in the US specifically or any idea if there are any projects ongoing? Did some digging in the internet found a couple off the east coast but no idea if they hire their own dive teams or usually sub contracted out. If any one has any recommendations or information it would be greatly appreciated!

US vs Europe

I’ve been looking into commercial diving and I heard that you can progress faster and get paid more in Europe or overseas. How does the pay, progression, or anything else for that matter vary between the US and Europe?

Nyd as an American

Any advice on getting into Nyd as an American? I’ve heard they don’t offer student visas, is there any way around that? I heard something about a work visa if you’re willing to stay and work after you finish with the school. Any advice or knowledge would be appreciated.
