PICS Madu has been found! After 5 months
November 7th 2024 I had discovered that my corn snake Madu (who I got on Halloween) had escaped and gone missing. We tore the house apart, set traps, searched everywhere and couldn’t find Houdini Madu. I ended up getting another corn snake in December, with little hope of Madu surviving a New England winter. Today while I was visiting my grammy, my husband FaceTimed me while he had Madu in a bucket. Madu was found in our basement in a stack of wood, struck at him twice, and when I got home I scooped Madu up out of the reptile carrier to inspect him/her. Not a single strike at me and all they did was coil around my fingers and stayed super calm. Madu seems a little underweight as expected, but not nearly as bad as I thought he/she would be. No signs of stuck shed, and even drank water while in my hand and holding a water dish up. Now to set up an emergency tank! Madu is still in the carrier for tonight with paper towels laid down and some water. And working on a hide as I don’t have extra just hanging around. The first two pictures are the first day I brought Madu home, and the rest are today.

QUESTION Chicks?
At my job we were mistakenly given a bag of frozen chicks instead of pinkie mice and they won’t take them back. My boss offered them to me since he knows I have two corn snakes. Can corn snakes eat chicks? I have one on fuzzies so I think the chicks would be too big and one on large mice so I think they would be too small. Anyone have any idea? Or if I could maybe donate them to an exotics place if they have other snakes?

QUESTION Why won’t my baby corn gain weight?
I have had my corn for about a month now and have just weighed him for the first time since I got him and it appears he has stayed the same weight (10g). He has been a 2g pinky every week like a charm and has never regurgitated anything.

Hi recently moved my snakes so I'm a bit hyper aware/critical of everything so I just want to make sure. He's been kinds rubbing himself against that portion of the stick then moving around his encloser then going back to that area.

QUESTION Is my corn about to shed?
This is Johnathan, my corn snake that I got for Christmas. I'm not sure how old he is or even if he's actually a he. This is my first reptile, so l'm still learning a lot. He's around 35g now and recently moved up to fuzzies, which he takes like a champ, as you can see he's never refused a meal. He's only shed once since I've had him, and I didn't even notice he was in shed until I found the skin. It came off in a bunch of pieces, so I was wondering: what can do to help make future sheds easier and more complete?

DISCUSSION Need advice
My little dude appears to have a burn. We have removed the substrate to keep him clean. He hates the paper towels. The injury is possibly because the lamp sits on the metal. He likes to hang out at the top.
I’m looking for ways to get the lamp off the metal. What do you all do?
I’m also looking for ideas on ways to let him hangout at the top without squeezing his noodles self into that small crevice between the plastic and metal. Suggestions?

HUSBANDRY - CARE Enclosure
Revamped the light /heating and added some more hides and foliage. Maybe I'll add some cute decor and sky hides/a hammock at some point. Thoughts?
Roast it or give tips, I'm pretty proud of this current setup, working on growing some live plants to add at some point and a patch of grass/clovers near the water dish, one thing i do know is im switching aspen and the soil mix for just soil mix. If u see pepi lurking about inform me cuz she's very well hidden from me today. There is a rolling curtain on top to provide additional shade for super sunny days due to window location and to maybe incentivise the cats to avoid hopping on top of the enclosure. The curtain also hides my hideous light cables lol.
Friday 13th aka Pepi's home. The little speech bubble says "you'll love me even though im just a worm?"

QUESTION Substrate
I've been using aspen for my corn snakes entire 4 year Lifespan, but I've noticed he has loose skin and hasn't shed in over 5 months. I'm thinking about changing to a bio mix enclosure that I can spray down to add extra humidity. Does this sound okay?

HUSBANDRY - CARE How is my Enclosure?
Hello!! I just deep cleaned my baby snake's enclosure and replaced substrate with a new one (Reptisoil, Eco earth, play sand mix) and while putting it all back together, I was wondering if there's any tips you guys have to make it better for her or what you think about this one. This is a 36 x 18 x 18 Reptizoo enclosure, hinged front opening.
Some things: • There's another thermo/hygrometer on the hot side by the branch. And kinda hard to see but a temperature probe hanging from the top near the lamp. • Two more hides in the two back corners + another small water bowl, they are kinda covered. I usually find her in the back cold hide or her middle coconut in the front. • Underneath the branch is slate. • The tupperware is a humid hide • SunGrow Indian Almond leaf litter
Thanks so much!! The other pic is her staring at me after I put her back in LOL

QUESTION Corn snake not eating but still very active
Hi everyone!
My corn snake has not been eating for around 3 to 4 weeks and does not seem interested in food at all. He is still very active and going around his enclosure much more then normal and still looks healthy. I read this could be do to maiting season (it is a male). Is this true? And if so, how long does this take and when should i get worried/take him to a vet?

PICS Meet Morty
I work at a pet store and I always loved taking care of this little guy. I loved spending time with him and started getting worried someone else would buy him. So I finally got him and brought him home. I’m still working on getting his enclosure set up better and learning more and more about how best to care for him. His full name is Nemesis of Mortals, Morty for short. (I’m saying he/him but I’ll be honest I’m not sure)

HUSBANDRY - CARE Cooling advice
So recently I’ve had this problem and I’m a bit stumped on how to fix it. My corn is in a 40 gal tank with a CHE (100W) and recently his cool side has been getting warm and I’m having a hard time bringing it down/keeping cool temps. His hot side isn’t even that hot, it’s at 83F with the CHE in the far corner of the hot side.
His cool side used to stay around 75.5-76 but has recently stayed at 78.8-79.9. I know 80 is the warmest it can go for the cool side but I’m trying to keep it at 75-77 for a proper gradient, even 78 is great.
My house is usually around 75-78 and I fear with the summer coming it will be around 80 more often since my roommate likes it warm. This usually isn’t a problem at night because I can crack the window open but with the warm weather that might not be an option anymore. I don’t want to turn the hot side down since it’s at optional temps for digestion. Any advice/Tips?
