I wonder if this person felt the same when Biden and Obama were in office 🤔🤔🤔

Someone replied with a screenshot of him referring to Biden as "Joe" in one of his previous tweets.
Edit- found it

The funniest part is the post they dug up about Joe putting on a maga hat was actually a real smooth move by Joe where he turned up at a fire station for the anniversary of 9/11 to talk to people, he offered a trump hat wearing dude a hat with the presidential seal and ended up swapping hats with the trump hat dude there in the process of chatting to them. The trump guy asked Biden to autograph the hat Joe had offered.
The dude asked for the autograph and he goes nah I'm slow I don't know my own name lmao.

u/KarateFace777 2d ago
That was my favorite moment of his presidency. Definitely a smooth move the way he played that.

u/blackbeltbud 2d ago
The very only thing that annoys me about that otherwise glimpse into old presidential decorum that it gave us, is how the right mocks him for doing that. Jfc
52
u/theroguex 2d ago
Of course they do. They don't know what 'decorum' is. They don't understand wit or sarcasm or any of that.

Have you noticed they don't even want to use Kamala Harris' and Hillary Clinton's last names? It's always Trump, Biden and Obama - vs Kamala and Hillary.
Feels patronizing for sure.
32
u/kermi42 2d ago
I became conscious of the fact I tended to say “Hillary” instead of “Clinton” during the 2016 campaign and I put this down to the fact her husband had already been president so it was a way of distinguishing between them, and I assumed most people were the same - it wasn’t really intended as diminutive but to give her her own identity. I still made an effort to say Clinton in regards to any Clinton vs Trump discussions but it never really came naturally.
Then when Kamala Harris started running I realised I defaulted to saying Kamala because that’s what the media tended to use, and in this case I assumed for most people it was because surnames are predominantly masculine and Kamala is feminine, but people on the right wing liked emphasizing her feminine Indian name to other her both as a woman and as a non-white.19
9
u/BamBodZ 2d ago edited 2d ago
It’s an interesting connection but I wouldn’t say it’s inherently patronising. I mean that’s the name they used in their campaigns so it’s the name people use to refer to them. Probably because it’s more distinct. Hillary to differentiate herself to Bill and also a lot of her rhetoric was to be the first female president. And Kamala probably just because it’s a more distinctive name than Harris.
Edit: Misremembered, Kamala mostly used Harris in her campaign so there’s an argument to be made there but I still don’t think it’s necessarily patronising. I mean most people just say Bernie as well.

Right ! Diaper-boy deserves the exact same respect that he gave the last 2 Democrat presidents. That is to say...none.

"BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA"
🙄🙄🙄🙄
Saying these people are unserious hypocrites is simply inadequate.

u/kevonicus 2d ago
That’s what happens when you go all in a piece of shit. You can’t pretend to care about anything like this anymore without being a total hypocrite. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a conservative opinion that I couldn’t destroy by pointing out their hypocrisy.

You mean “Sleepy Joe”, and Barack “H U S S E I N”?
I’m gonna say without even checking his comment history that he was likely fine with the new decorum up to this point.

lol, when Obama was POTUS, I heard a lot of “Hussein”. Not sure why. I will be referring to DJT in the most offensive way based on the company I am around. Get Fuct

Because Hussein is his middle name. The right parroted that over and over to associate him with Sadam to idiot voters.

People insisting on the "president" prefix are cringe as hell. I have never said "president obama" or "president Biden" and you're not gonna catch me starting now that we have an orange dictator in power.
19
u/ALoudMouthBaby 2d ago
Its probably worth noting that even the US founding fathers found the concept of giving the office a special title cringe. During Washingtons first term what to call the person in the executive branch was a debate that went on for nearly three weeks, with a tiny minority insisting the office be given a grand title. So the majority finally had enough and voted to give the office the meagerest title the could think of, which at the time was "president". Even back then they knew this shit was dumb.
Heres a good listen for anyone that wants to be a little over educated on the topic: https://www.npr.org/transcripts/g-s1-429

u/Ok_Door_9720 2d ago
All the royalty in the world at the time, and Washington was cool with "Mr. President."
12
u/Simmy_P 2d ago
In the UK, you'd get all sorts of funny looks if you prefixed Starmer's name with Prime Minister. Nobody here does it, it's not even a partisan thing, even hardcore Labourites wouldn't do it, neither would hardcore Tories do it for any of the last slew of PM's we had.
Even the King often just gets called "Charles".
Sometimes we even call him "Charlie" or "Cheeky Chaz".
Edit: that last point might just be pertinent to my friendship group to be fair.
7
u/stevedave84 2d ago
Aussies give all our PMs nicknames. Albo, ScoMo, Little Johnnie, Kevin07. We also have a history of ridiculing them in public and throwing eggs dating back to 1917. This whole president worship, dick riding is hilarious to us.

I 100% gurantee this person has referred to every single Democrat president in their lifetime simply by their name.
18
u/AFewBerries 2d ago
Likely called them worse stuff than their name

u/NobodyImportant13 2d ago
HUSSEIN
"Sleepy Joe."
"Let's go Brandon."
"YOU BETTER CALL HIM PRESIDENT!!"
11
u/shugo2000 2d ago
That's what gets me. Back when Obama was elected, none of the conservative media called him President Obama. And it felt weird to me then, because previously most media had used "President Clinton", "President Bush", etc. But now it was just "Obama" this and "Obama" that.
9
u/ALoudMouthBaby 2d ago
It was Fox News, 100%. That was the moment they completely stopped pretending to be a news organization and the way its reflected in the language they used to cover politics. Im old enough to remember it happening, which feels weird.

If you ever watched Fox News from 2020-2024 they always referred to President Biden as just Biden and to Trump as President Trump, even though he wasn’t in office

u/brazenovertures 2d ago
A president had to earn respect. Honestly, not seeing much respect-worthy there.
5
u/IAmASimulation 2d ago
Same people would drive around with a bumper sticker that said fuck joe Biden and a tshirt that said let’s go Brandon.
4
u/FridayMcNight 2d ago
Or just call him convict. That would also be valid and proper.

u/Johnhaven 2d ago
I was like that at the beginning of his first term even though I'd loathed him for, well, ever. It didn't take long before I said eff that. It's hard to show respect for an office he took a shit on. I'll show it respect again after it's been disinfected.

Is his legal name President Trump? No? This isn't Westeros and he isn't the king, he's more akin to Jack Sparrow hopelessly correcting people who don't call him Captain.

It seems to be that if you hurl derogatory nicknames at your opponents, you are inviting some in return. That also goes for the person who post is featured in the image (not OP).

Doesn't escape me that these same undereducated assholes didn't even refer to Kamala Harris by her last name. Just "Kamala"... pronunciation incorrect. Makes me want to legitimately scream.

It wouldn't be so hard to separate the man from his name since he's tried SOOO hard the last 30 years to make his name mononymous. Trump tower. Trump ties. Trump:The Game. Trump hotel. Trump casino. He'll try to name it The "Trump" House before the end of his first term, I bet. To add insult to injury; it's not even his family's original name, Drumpf. Give me a break with calling him, Mr. President Donald Trump... He's a single-syllable doofus. He's earned that title.
