Help | Beginner How to sort media file
I've got a lot of unsorted footage, and I'm wondering if there's a way of sorting it to look less messy(folders, etc)

I personally find it much easier looking by list instead of thumbnail... Folders are called "bins" in DaVinci. There is every kind of field you can think of to add to clips, like clip #, camera #, timecode, comments, etc. and you can edit these fields for each clip individually. If you want to apply the same value to a load of clips (like camera #), select the clips you want and in the metadata window (right of the media window), you will find all the metadata fields you can edit (three dots icon shows more, like Shots & Scenes etc.)
ETA: you can also change names of files freely in DaVinci without affecting the source media, so if your file is called something like "C1049_20250321-143512.wav", you can just change that to "Subject interview 1 audio.wav" or something understandable to you, and the file (in your computer media storage) will still have its original name for DaVinci to reference it

I prefer to view my media in column-view rather than as thumbnails. That affords me a lot more information and a lot more ease at sifting and sorting based on criteria.
You can also create individual bins and move Media and organize it however you like.
Smart bins are also super handy. I used them more and more. Adding tags and metadata can then trigger automated smart bins. It’s super handy.

You can put the into folders (called bins), you can also sort them by metadata and by user keywords.
