Hey Denver Foodies,
I started this subreddit 12 years ago when I moved to Denver and realized there wasn’t a central place to discuss the city’s food scene. As an East Coast transplant, my culinary experiences up to that point were mostly limited to fast casual spots and the occasional buffet. But Denver opened my eyes to a diverse range of food, and I quickly fell in love with exploring it. I won’t bore you with the details of “Denver food in the early 2010s,” but let’s just say I enjoyed putting Denver in my mouth. I wanted this subreddit to be a space where others could share that same passion.
When the pandemic hit, I took a more active role in moderating the community. We grew from 10K members to 30K, and by 2023–2024, we had doubled in size to what the subscriber count is at the time of writing, 70k. I’ve always seen it as a personal achievement to trail just 10% behind the subscriber count of r/Denver, so surpassing that mark tells me people are finding this subreddit and engaging with it. That’s been incredibly rewarding to see.
RULES
Please review the sidebar rules, we've streamlined some of these rules. as always, you have to follow the Reddit Rules. They are extensive and cover the basics.
ANTI HATE SPECIFICS
r/denverfood is not a platform for right-wing, conservative, or Trump-era rhetoric, as these ideologies often promote hate and discrimination. This includes hate directed at immigrants, LGBTQIA+ individuals, disabled people, women, people of color, and others.
If you don’t understand this, that’s okay. But if you support the politics and policies tied to these ideals, this subreddit is not for you. You are welcome to participate; until your contributions cross into those beliefs. This is not a space where those messages will be given a platform.
There are other places on reddit where that is tolerated. r/denverfood is not one of them. The consequence of posts or comments containing content implied or explicit will result in removal or banning.
This policy lives in the spirit of "Popper's Paradox", or the paradox of tolerance.
It also lives in the spirit of being a good person.
A call to action: This subreddit is built on the values of inclusivity and community. If you represent a publication, journalist, organization, or initiative that amplifies marginalized voices; especially in ways that intersect with Denver’s food culture. I’d love to hear from you. My DMs are open for collaboration, features, or discussions that align with these values.
FOOD IS POLITICS
r/denverfood isn’t just a place to talk about where to eat. It’s a space to celebrate and uplift the people, cultures, and ingredients that shape Denver’s food scene. Food is personal. Food is political. Every meal represents the hands that made it, the traditions behind it, and the systems that sustain it.
This is a space for industry workers and diners to share experiences, perspectives, and stories. It’s not just about what’s on the plate; it’s about the people and culture that bring it to life.
This means post and comments that openly discuss the impact of the current political climate on the Denver food scene is welcome here. That discussion has to follow the rules, and it is welcome here.
Any bad faith excplicit or implied attacks on the people that discuss this will result in swift banning. If you don't like it; don't engage.
MODERATION UPDATES
We have AutoModerator, Safety Filters, and Anti-Harassment settings turned up to the highest level. They catch a lot of content that most subreddit members never see; but I do. Every hateful or vile comment ends up in the moderation queue, and I have to read it all.
Lately, I’ve also been receiving death threats. These are taken seriously. Every threat is reported to Reddit admins and forwarded to law enforcement for follow-up. Do not do this. Threatening violence over an opinion is beyond unacceptable.
WEEKLY PINNED POSTS
We'll be adding a weekly pinned posts that local food places can highlight what they have going on. based on engagement we'll see how this does. This should keep the local food discussions current and at the top. thanks r/chicagofood and r/foodNYC for the idea.
SIDEBAR RESOURCES
We regularly see posts about food poisoning and food safety concerns. That’s why we’ve had the Denver Health Department linked in the sidebar for a while now.
We’re also expanding our industry resources to include job listings, wage theft reporting, and Department of Labor information.
Given this subreddit’s stance on ICE, we’ll be adding resources on how to report ICE raids, with more information to come.
Keep an eye on that space.
LOCAL FOOD AMAS
I’ve long wanted to host roundtable discussions with local food businesses or offer AMA style posts. However, many owners have told me they hesitate to participate because of the hate and bad-faith criticism they see when reading the subreddit anonymously.
I’m working on a format that will make these discussions easier to moderate, creating a space where business owners feel comfortable engaging.
LOCAL FOOD DEALS AND DIRECT ENGAGEMENT
u/SpiceTradeBrewing ( the person running the account before everyone was fired for new ownership ) has been the only business (person at a a food business ) to truly take me up on engaging with the subreddit in a meaningful way, for both their fans and the business itself. This is an open invitation to other locally owned food businesses: reach out and engage. You might be surprised by how well it’s received.

Hi again,
Sorry if this is annoying, but I had to write another review about the Blue Pan truck pizza.
If you remember me from my first experience, it wasn’t the best. But I gave the food truck another shot and voilà!
Y’all were hating hard on my vegan pepperonis last time, but I ordered the Brooklyn Bridge this time with vegan pepperonis and vegan sausage and just look at them!!
This is honestly one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. Truly. I can’t believe how good it is. I don’t even want to finish it. The restaurant pizza was amazing, but this? This is even better, which I didn’t think was possible.
Everyone who works here has clearly been vetted. All the guys running the truck are super cool and friendly. I’m kinda jealous, I’ve never wanted to work at a pizza place before.
Huge thanks to Dom, Gary, and Giles (again). I didn’t catch the other guy’s name (very rude of me), but you both have amazing tattoos. I hope the next time I see you, that big piece is done. 🐴
This will be my last review about Blue Pan Pizza. Eat here :) (respect the vegan peps!!)

Wow! Just had Supreme Chicken on Colfax for the 1st time. I’m a taco/chicken snob & have to say this may have been the best chicken taco I’ve ever had. The flavor was incredible. Also had Mexican rice, chips & salsa & the macaroni salad. Bonus points~ had the food delivered & realized after they drove away that they missed the (2) margaritas I ordered. I called to tell them & the bartender personally delivered them a short time later (and they too were delicious). The prices can’t be beat either. This place is a must!

La Vacana Burger - Colombian Hamburgers (Food truck permanently located in the Mattress Firm parking lot on the corner of Colorado Blvd and Cherry Creek Dr)
Huge burgers with eclectic toppings. Somewhat expensive given it's a food truck, but at least they come with fries. We got two burgers but could have easily just split one they were so big.
Aura's Bakery - Venezuelan bakery (In the shopping center near Golden Meds at Leetsdale and Oneida)
I wish I had tried this place sooner. The pictures online really don't do them justice. I got a 12 pack of the tequenos which are really fucking good deep-fried breads with a variety of both sweet and savories fillings. My favorites were the guava/cheese and the cheese/bacon. They're all extremely rich and filling. I also got a sticky bun, which was good but too sweet for my taste. The bottom of it was drenched in sugary syrup.

Good morning!
About five months ago, my family and I moved from Germany to Denver, Colorado for my dad’s work. It’s been great here—sunshine, mountains, friendly people—but there’s one thing that’s been haunting me like a caffeinated ghost: Lipton Green Ice Tea. I miss it deeply. I dream about it. My soul cries out for that sweet, refreshing sip of home.
Unfortunately, getting my hands on it here is harder than explaining German compound words to Americans. Every time I find it online, the shipping costs are something like $40. I’m trying to buy iced tea, not adopt it.
I’ve scoured the internet, begged Google for answers, but no luck so far. Fuze Tea is also great, by the way (bless its citrusy soul), but that’s just as rare here.
Please—if you have any tips, secret suppliers, or magical portals to European grocery stores, help a desperate tea lover out.

I've never seen it anywhere else I've lived. Most rye breads I see are tasty, but somewhat tough. This marble rye, however, was very soft. The crust was a very flavorful and strong rye, but the interior was very soft and the rye flavor was weak. I loved it.
It seemed everywhere I went had this bread. Sandwich places, pizza places, bakeries...car dealerships. I frequented Northglenn, Thornton, and the surrounding areas.
Anyone know of this bread? I don't live there anymore, so I am hoping for a recipe or at least a name I can look up that isn't just "marble rye".

Hey all! I am in need of some advice. I will be house sitting for a friend near Cherry Creek. I am only familiar with restaurants/bars in Wheat Ridge/Lodo/Rino. I am looking for some good local places for food recs as I try to avoid going to chain restaurants. Equally opportunity food person without any allergies or preferences. Dive bars and hole in the wall places are welcome suggestions as well.

I know this is a probably a long shot, but I thought I’d try. I’m originally from STL and I crave imos weekly. I order their pizzas once a year, but I miss their garlic bread and their salads. I can get the dressing on Amazon, however provel is hard to find. I know about 7-10 year ago there was a stl pizza chain that opened and then closed. Is there maybe another place anywhere in the area that makes it? Also if there was a lions choice type place anywhere nearby. TIA!

I’m going to be in Denver for a quick work trip and I’m torn between who has the better steak?! Guard and Grace or A5.
Both come highly recommended, at a glance G&G looks like it has a better menu and more options (even if their Waygu is SRF. Not that it’s bad just have had them A LOT). Steaks are priced well and the steak flight sounds amazing (as long as it’s 3, 4oz steaks not 4oz of steak total, which seems highly unlikely)
A5’s biggest attraction (for me) is the Miyazaki prefecture BMS 12 Waygu, the down side is that it’s only 4oz and I’m not exactly a small guy. Haha.
Part of me is saying “just get the one you know you really want” but will the 4oz be worth it?
Would love some input from locals who have been to both and have tried both!
Update: After hearing about Hideaway Steakhouse from a friend I’ve thrown it into the mix!

Hey folks, I’ve been making red beans and rice for maybe 15 years out here, but I’ve never actually used the meat that the recipe I follow calls for. I’ve just used diced pork from King Soopers, and it’s amazing but I feel like maybe once I should follow the recipe ha. Anyone know where to get pickle pork out here? There’s gotta be a New Orleans style deli out here somewhere, no luck googling. Guess I could order online, but I’d rather support local if I can.

I don’t have a picture because I ate the food so fast. This spot is great and reasonably priced. It’s in the spot “Classic Eats” deli used to be.
Got the carnitas burrito and a Quesabirria taco and it did not disappoint. Reminded me of La Cornetta in San Francisco.
Hope they stick around for a long time.
