Imagine causing a 4 hole back up single handedly with only a handful of cards on the course.

Where are the officials ?

Doesnt anybody care about the rules anymore ? - Walter Sobchak

Discussion Do you organize your bag by speed, or by color?

Post image
Upvotes

Discs by speed: Aviar, Classic Roc, Shark, Cobra, Mako 3 (x2), Leopard (x3), Teebird (x3), Eagle, IT, Dragon, Archangel, Valkyrie, Gorgon, Beast.

I recently switched my bag from being organized by speed, to being organized by color. Organizing by color makes it a lot easier for me to find discs, and to put them away in the right place.

Now I need to memorize how many I have of each color, so I can do a quick inventory at the end of a round to make sure I didn't forget anything.

Discussion Can’t putt

Upvotes

I’m 50% from 15 feet And 25% from 25

I’ve been playing for 4 years. No putting style has ever worked for me, and I am a fairly confident player. I’m 900 rated while being roughly 25% C1X in a tourney round. Help!

Played my first round early Jan this year. I'm addicted. I've made my brother addicted. Four of my friends are also addicted. Our Sunday morning (and usually arvo) rounds have become a highlight of our week. What an unexpectedly awesome sport!

Pro Coverage, Highlights and News Shout out to Grant

DGN and the talent gets a lot of criticism and certainly a lot of the time they deserve it. I can’t explain how much I’ve enjoyed the remote team calling into Grant this weekend in Nashville. Would love to see more of him in tournaments in the future.

Thank you Grant!

Discussion How many discs…?

Post image
57 Upvotes

How many discs you all typically carry when playing? Right now I’m carrying 7 discs & will use four of em pretty regularly but all 7 will get thrown at some point or another during an 18 hole session. Part of me wants to downsize for simplicity, but due to newb tendencies I just assume I’ll chuck one into the water & will need a spare lol.

Some of the crew that I’ll throw with will have a cart/bag full of discs. Easily 30+ discs available but might only throw 4-5.

Whatever somebody wants to carry around with them is their prerogative & completely A ok. I was just curious what others are doing. Do you all use all the discs in bag & carry em anyway or do you keep it light?

Discussion Played my first round in a year today.

So a year ago I lost a friend. We played once every couple weeks. He was obnoxious, cheated, drank, smoked, and took three steps while putting from inside the circle. But after he left I threw all my discs in the closet and forgot about it all. Went out and played today, met a few guys on the 8-9th hole and really noticed how i missed the fun of talking while waiting for the group ahead to finish. Saying nice putt, and a little ball busting. Threw a head banger, mostly boge's, and a couple pars with nice putts. It was a long break and glad to hit the chains.

Discussion Hex hype is real.

I got myself a glow hex yesterday on a whim because it felt really nice in the hand. It goes so far and straight with a mild fade. I'm shook. Never had a disc I liked this soon.

Discussion How often do you play your home course, vs. others? Is variety the spice of life, or do you enjoy the comfort of your own home?

I'm out at my home course right now, in the middle of a great round, on my ohone. My home course is a well maintained 9 hole park course. Any day before 9:00 I usually have the place to myself- which is why no one minds me taking a break on my phone, even on a beautiful Sunday morning.

I had planned on going to Reichmuth in Sac today, but the draw of my home course is too strong, so I'm out here at my home course again (and enjoying it). I played over 100 rounds here last year, and I'm on track to do that again.

So- do most of you like to travel to a new course for the excitement of something different? Or do you pretty much stick to one course and just play the crap out of that?

Side note- I did play a round at a different course earlier this week (Rocklin, which was in incredible shape) and it was great!

Disc Advice New putting putter & throwing putter recommendations.

Upvotes

I have been putting with prodigy Pa-1s in 300 soft now for about 5 years and have been loving it. I cycle old ones into my bag to meet the dead straight throwing putter slot, and then even more beat in ones for flippy throwing putter. I'm looking to potentially switch to something else, mvp might be my top but open to anything. Nomad? Envy's? Idk. I like the grip of the 300, I feel like I want something shallower and not beaded since I'm a spin putter, I want the cleanest release possible to minimize wobble and maximize consistency. I like the stability of the pa1 because it gets to the ground quick if I fluff my putt too soft or miss left or right bad.

Context below to help guide your recommendations.

I have really sweaty hands and like the tack and grip of my putting putters. I throw my putters on 300 to 325ft holes typically. My main throwing putter has been a soft neutron envy for like a year now. It's a Little more stable than I would like but I enjoy that it has flown the same for so long now.

Here's my brief history below if that helps any.

I switched putters pretty often back in the day. I putted with a banger and then a sss wizard and then something else after that I think. When I got more into disc golf and played on a college disc golf team I was back to putting with ss wizards. I randomly started putting with a guys soft pa1 at practice one day and was draining putts from 35ft with a jumper. I was hooked. I made the switch and my putting improved a little inside the circle but way more outside c1. then Once my original pa1s beat in I got 2 new ones and started throwing 1 of my old ones and realized it went lazer straight off the tee. I lost that disc sadly and then put the other old one I had in the bag a few months ago. It's not really straight though like the other one. It's flippy so I'm using it to replace my flippy driving putter which was a lat keystone. (I like the feel in my hand of the pa1 a lot more than the keystone- it just had a special understable flight I didn't have in anything else till I found out my pa1 was really flippy). I just recently got a neutron watt that's fitting the lazer straight slot, feels good in the hand but it does flip just a tiny bit on me, I don't like it as much as that lost pa1. I also have been throwing a neutron soft envy for almost a year now and been falling in love with it. It's still stable though. It goes straight for like 200-250 and then gently fades the rest of its flight. I have been using it for a straight/stable thrower. If I could beat it in more I would probably use it for my straight putter flight, unless I should just keep swapping out my pa1s since I have a lot of history and hand feel with them from putting. Should I putt with a soft baseline envy and get away from the pa1s all together. I know that's a lot, just looking to optimize and simplify my game.

Seeing as it’s basically just going to be a score keeper, the cheapest possible option is ideal. What do you guys recommend?

Discussion I want to run a disc golf daycamp for kids. Do you think there would be interest? What advice do you have?

I am thinking about doing a disc golf camp for children who want to try out the sport. I am looking for advice from anyone who has done it before or any suggestions from the community about what to charge and what to include.

I work at a high school, and we are starting a disc golf club next year. I can get the members of the club to run different stations. Our school has a nine hole course, so we have access to plenty of holes.

I was thinking of doing a three-day camp for an hour and a half each day. My little brother is a professional ball golfer, and he runs a similar camp for that sport (I realize ball golf is way more popular, but he got 1200 kids to sign up in two hours. He runs three-day camps for 150 kids each day for 8 weeks).

I was thinking of reaching out to prodigy and getting birdie derby sets and giving them to all the participants (they are basically starter sets). They are about 20 bucks and I was going to charge 60-80 to the kids. That would let me pay the kids to help out with it, and use the rest as a fundraiser for our disc golf club.

I was also thinking about doing prize drawings each day and giving away some discs. I have a bunch of discs I can give away, and maybe I will reach out to a few places for prizes.

Here's what I'm thinking as far as stations:

Day 1: 3 stations- 25 minutes each

-Station 1: Throwing. Show them proper backhand and forehand stance and let them throw to targets.

-Station 2: Putting: show them how to putt. Have them put to practice baskets

-Station 3: Rules: explain basic rules and scoring and then have them play 2-3 practice holes.

Day 2: Same as day 1, but with more practice and less instruction.

Day 3: Run a 9-hole tournament with a shotgun start. Hold a raffle at the end. Our course is basically a pitch and putt until the last few holes, so it shouldn't be too difficult.

So what do you think? Does this seem feasible? Do you think people would sign up? Any ideas for how improvement?
