Dyson in the Wild New roommate
I gave it its own little room, and it charges (almost) inconspicuously

Just FYI, running that power cable through the wall without a conduit violates building code in most North American cities and it'll become problematic if you ever need to claim insurance for fire damage

I heard something about low voltage cables being exempt but I’ll look to pick up a little wire grommet/bushing to secure the wire in the hole. Thanks for the heads up!

Nice. Have fun with it! Clean the filter every couple months a least. Also try and clean out where hair builds up in the sides every couple months as well. I had so much built up in mine that it cracked one of the side pieces. It goes back together when screwing it all back together, but yeah, it’s broken when I take it all apart.
Seriously though it’s a damn fun machine

Thanks! It really is fun, never thought I’d say that about a vacuum haha I appreciate the cleaning tips as well. Hope you’re able to keep your machine running

What is the accurate placement strategy for all the various heads? I always feel like it’s a game of Tetris

Honestly couldn’t tell you. I spent way too long trying to arrange the heads and one is on the floor because it was blocked by the wall when I tried to place it in the holder. I do wish you could angle those attachment ports/there were more of them

Just got mine yesterday. It’s way too heavy is my complaint! Compared to my dead v10. If this was lighter and easier to push around it’d be good. Thankfully I’m not vacuuming too often. I just don’t look forward to it as opposed to v10 was so easy and light to move around. My hand is killing me after using the v15.

Fair point, this is actually my very first Dyson vacuum so I have no weight comparison. I do appreciate the power and battery capacity but I suppose added weight was the tradeoff

Just don't leave leave it switched on 24/7. If you've noticed it's fully charged, switch of at the plug. Also, don't be tempted to use it for 5 mins and then top the charge up. It won't do the battery any good and let the battery run right down every so often before charging, that will keep the battery healthy. Biggest cause of battery failure is over charging. Otherwise enjoy 🙂

I see what you’re saying, I just have a hard time believing modern chargers overcharge/damage batteries like that. I think the majority of damage to battery health comes simply from time and usage, and eventually the batteries need to be replaced regardless. I’ve noticed this from years of smartphone ownership

It's not the charger that damages the battery. It's the continual topping up the charge as it's not using all the cells. As for leaving it switched on 24/7 is more of a safety point if view (fire hazzard).

I’ll make sure to hit the lower ranges of the battery from time to time, but unplugging and replugging the charger isn’t going to be feasible for me as the outlet is behind a refrigerator.
I also believe repeatedly plugging into an outlet causes wear on the connection over time and ends up posing a larger fire hazard than just leaving something plugged in

You broke building codes my friend. Don’t run wires behind walls if you aren’t sure if it’s meant to be behind walls.

I’m going to throw on a cable pass through port and we should be alright

The issue is the wire itself, not that it has a port. It needs conduit.

What sort of conduit would solve the issue? PVC? And is it needed for just the intersection through the drywall, or just because it passes through a wall, the entire cable now needs a conduit?

Wait until you star vacuuming in the dark so you can watch the laser light up all the dirt !!
People think I’m nuts until they see it in action
