Cat was not prepared for the realities of motherhood.

Her expression reminds me of how I felt a few days after bringing my son home from the hospital. He was really a good baby, didn't cry unless he was hungry, uncomfortable, or needed to be changed. I'd had a C-section and was living with my parents, so I was exhausted in every way. It was Thursday night, and I had just finished giving him his evening bottle. I turned to my mom and said, in all seriousness, that I couldn't wait for the weekend. We just looked at each other and started laughing.
It was then that it really and truly hit me, and I thought holy shit, what the hell have I done? And now I'm truly stuck! LOL. That was 34 years ago and we still laugh about it.

So it was all worth the fuss and heartache then?

Absolutely! As the saying goes: The days are long but the years are short!

You must be a very well adjusted individual tho, I was asking because I am just about to miss that boat due to fear. Mostly having childhood traumas and mental health difficulties which should have been addressed sooner but hey we are here. I always thought I should not be worth letting a child into this world when I could hardly take care of myself, I dare say its selfish although sounds a lot like a whole lot of work to have a kid soooooo really. 🥹

This reminded me of when I brought home a rescue that surprised us with 7 puppies a month later. Our older lab would just look at her like, “what a mess you’ve made of your life.”

One of your dogs got pregnant. For the first month, she would come racing if she heard a whimper, cleaned them, doted on them.
And then they learned to walk and opened their eyes. Put them to bed one night in the bathroom (nursing box, food, water, etc.). And we heard whimpering. Checked up on them and mom was sitting beside the box, and the four puppies were trying to get to her.
Mom just looked up at us and you could tell she was saying "Can I have a night off? Can I? Can I please have a break?"

Definitely keeping an eye on them all! With this many kittens it’s not uncommon for the littler ones to need a little help. The two runts are the black one and one of the orange one, so definitely keeping an eye on them. So far she’s doing a great job though! Her kittens are all fat and happy.

What just about all mothers have wondered since time began. It's okay Mama, you'll be okay and the babies will be too :)

Good thing she only needs to take care of them for ~6-9 months. Until then though...

I found my kittens at 2 months and 1.5 months. They had been abandoned by their respective feral moms. They're now around 5 months old.
What should their mom had been doing all this time? Feeding them, maybe? Teaching them how to hunt?
By the time I got them, they were both allowed to eat solid food. I never had to give them milk. But now I'm wondering whether they're lacking something important in their lives :(

Because they at least have each other they can learn boundaries that way, but they’ll probably struggle a little interacting with new cats.

Motherhood is the beginning of several long, existential crises according to my mom. Think this shows the beginning of that perfectly 😂
