Hey all,
Iām just curious if people think my ferret might have something else in him (not 50/50 but just a little). Heās so chunky. Both in the face and body. Heās not that big but heās like a meat brick (not overweight, my partner is a vet). I thought his face looks a little like a black footed ferretās face, it doesnāt have the slenderness of any other ferrets I have owned (upwards of 10 by this point). His feet are also like shovels and he has some social issues and strange mannerisms (but heās a rescue so that could do with previous isolation)

Pic for tax. We lost all three of these friends in the span of 8 months. Your pictures and videos of happy ferrets brings me joy instead of sadness. Seeing happy ferrets make me think of mine fondly.

Three years ago, my husband and I adopted a pair of ferrets from a family who didnāt want them anymore. Asmodeus and Stolas (DIP, he passed to bladder stones 6 months after we took him in), had known nothing but cramped spaces and a revolving door of humans, and they werenāt even a year old yet. We were their 3rd home already! The past owners rarely ever let them out of the cage and barely interacted with them. The second family had them 8 months, and Asmodeus never learned the name he had with them (Stolas was deaf).Ā
All the supplies we got with them smelled of cigarette smoke, including their food. I have never seen ferrets so skilled at pooping in the exact same spot every time, no doubt learning to maximize the space they had in their cage. They didnāt know what to do with themselves with more than 15 minutes of time outside a cage! Neither wanted anything to do with us for a while, and I didnāt blame them.Ā
It took Asmodeus a good 2 years to finally open up to my husband and I! He now enjoys 24/7 free-roaming with constant human interaction. My track record with Marshallās ferrets is not good. The oldest Iāve had one live passed just before his 5th birthday to lymphoma. I really hope Azzyās one of the lucky ones that makes it to 8. It breaks my heart to think heās an old man now!

I have two ferrets. Both around 5 yrs old. Not sure their exact birthday since their previous owners didnāt know.
My husband has lost his job and we are unfortunately considering rehoming them since Iām worried we wonāt be able to keep them healthy as theyāre older and are prone to sickness now.
Is it wrong to consider rehoming them? Would this affect them greatly because otherwise I canāt do it.
Need your advice. Feeling very sad š

Hello! My ferret noodle (the darker and smaller of these two) had what we suspect to be a blockage on Wednesday. He had an overnight stay at the vet that night. Thursday the vets believe he was able to clear it on his own after an x ray and barium test. They found throw up in his cage with something they couldnāt identify. Heās currently on an antibiotic and stomach medicine to calm his insides, as well as soft food for the week. Heās back to himself, and while Iām so thankful, Iām also a little worried! Should he be playing this rough with his buddy already? Or should I intervene/separate them for a certain period of time? Today is the first day Iāve allowed them to see each other just to give him a couple days to rest, so Iām sure theyāve missed each other!

I have two ferrets. Both females, both just under 2 years old (Tina and Louise).
Louise needed to get a medical procedure done, and had to stay at the vet's office for three days. When she got back home, Tina started sniffing her intensely then attacked her aggressively. Louise cried loudly, but no pee poop or blood. I separated them very quickly though.
Some context: Louise smelled completely different after the surgery, not her usual scent. I have separated the ferrets - they sleep in the same room, same cage, but separated and close enough to still smell each other. I've also been swapping bedding regularly.
It's been a week since Louise got home. I already washed her (oat bath), but that didn't help. I also tried to rub salmon oil the back of their necks, but it didn't help (Tina licked Louise a few times, but after a few minutes attacked her).
My guess is that Tina doesn't recognize Louise's scent anymore, and now see her as an intruder/stranger. They were completed bonded and best buds before this. Tina was never aggressive before this, so idk if she is trying to assert her dominance with this "stranger" now.
Has anyone dealt with this before? Any tips? Please help :(

So Luna(the youngest ferret of the 2) NEVER potties in the litter box since Iāve gotten her sister basically, she was kinda trained but not fully about 5 months ago but now sheās just poops and pees outside of the litter box, not on the carpet anymore which is nice but still not in the litter box like her sister, and her sister ALWAYS goes in the litter box. They both know if they go in the litter box they get salmon oil, so thatās why lily(the older one) always does it but Luna idk whatās up with her. Though my question is if I should force her to change, cause before sheād show us sheās going to poop/pee and if you donāt move her to the litter box in the next 3 seconds she does it on the floor, but if you do then she knows she gets salmon oil, and even if you donāt she thinks she gets it, but I want to get it to where she thinks only going potty in the litter box without us having to move her is how she gets it, so Iāve been not giving anything and not moving her so she can learn that no box=no salmon oil, is this a good way of training? Or should I still just move her or attempt to every time which is a little difficult and Iāve already tried keeping her in her cage when they wake up to go in the litter box before coming out but she refuses and just eats/drinks š but then again overnight she doesnāt potty in the litter box in the cage too, her sister does but she doesnāt in their too and makes cleaning a little more difficult I suppose but YEA. Lilly has the white nose and Luna has the black nose btw :)

Hello! I have a very old boy named Momo, about 8 years old. Heās had incontinence but now itās pretty bad where he needs a mini-bath at least 3x a day.
I donāt mind it at all, but I would like some tips especially around his little male area which gets yellow very fast. Essentially if heās not curled on his belly, heāll pee all over it.
I worry about bothering his penis bone too much or getting his opening infected. I definitely make sure heās completely scrubbed clean of poop before I even touch that area. Heās not lost fur on his belly since I wash him all the time and he still has some use of his hind legs so heās not dragging it.

Momo is my eldest boy and I wanted him to be on my banner art for social media, I dont see much ferret art out there so I wanted to share!

Last night my ferret who is about 5 years old was vomiting for about 10 minutes then started acting completely normal, I cleaned her cage shortly after and all seemed well, this morning I woke up to find that she had pooped once and as I got ready she pooped again(about 4-5 hours ago) now she has only peed twice, no poop. She ate a little bit and she has been drinking water but I feel like something is wrong.
Could it be a possible blockage?
I already called a vet and Iām going to take her in as soon as my gf leaves for work to go get check out. Just want to know what you guys think it could be.
Thank you.
Edit: this is what she pooped out just now.

Episode 2: The Ferret Gazebo aka Ferret-Zebo
It started with a 12x12 deck that I built in the back corner of my yard. On top is as 12x12 hot tub gazebo. Fully enclosed with metal bottom and screen windows.
Inside I created a standing/entry space so the little fur balls couldn't escape when the sliding door opened. I then sectioned it in half so that I could have two sets of ferrets playing at the same time.
Since my wife and I volunteer with our local ferret rescue group we often get foster ferrets. This way, if they don't get along, I can have multiple groups playing at once.
Pictured is the left side, complete with various boxes I built from wire shelves/boxing my wife use to use for craft show displays. I built frames so that the screen windows had wire mesh in front of them. All the different boxes are connected by tubes and include a ball pit!
I layer added more hammocks and blankets.

My ferret ( 7F ) has this bruised all of a sudden. For context, she has adrenal disease and lymphoma. Due to Adrenal, her skin is very itchy and she is scratching/biting it a lot. When I touch it It doesnāt seem to hurt her.
She also got her implant last week, could this be cause by it ?
Please if you ever experienced this or know what this could be, let me know, I would appreciate it.

So as stated above my ferret is super itchy all the time most his lower half. I donāt think itās anything serious, he doesnāt have fleas or anything. I just donāt know if Iām over analyzing it or a possible skin thing or just his quirk. He is 3 almost 4 years old and my other two girls donāt seem to be as bad as him. But anyways is it normal or does he have just really dry skin lol.

Is it possible to rehome a ferret that bites? I have a 4.5 year old female ferret that latches on when she bites. Sheāll only do it if you have exposed skin. Sheās very finicky and doesnāt like being held, doesnāt seem to like people very much.
Iām wondering if itās possible to rehome her because very sadly, I will be having to put my elderly ferret, her best friend and mine, down due to lymphoma. I worry about her wellbeing without her friend. My mom died recently and I canāt afford to take in another ferret. Treating my elderly ferrets lymphoma has been costly. Iām just not sure what to do anymore, so I was curious if anyone has taken in a biting ferret before (not asking anyone to take her right now, just curious if people actually do so itās something I can think about).
