Had a friend in highschool who insisted on sending me every chain text she got. I asked her several times to stop. Then finally I told her if she sent me one more id disable her phone. So in resp she sent me 10. My phone had an option to enter up to 10 recipients numbers to send to. So I put hers in all 10. Then I just hit the resend button non stop for about 5 minutes. I doubt it would work on today's phones but her phone got 1,000s of messages. Each one would sound the text tone. I sent these at like 10pm. She turned her phone off so it wouldn't die. She was still getting the messages during our first class the next morning and her phone was dead at lunch.

I did something similar; my friend/roommates's gf had a really annoying ringtone and she refused to change it. I qued up several thousand messages while my phone was in airplane mode, then when they went to bed I turned off airplane mode and left for a bit.

She needed her phone as an alarm so she didn't want to turn it off, and apparently blocking me didn't stop the messages maybe because they had already been received just not processed. I could hear it still going off when I got back from the bar hours later. She changed her ringtone in the morning.

Not sure why blocking would work that way, but it sounds pretty funny. I don't even think phones had a # block feature when I did it. My friend was laughing when she angrily demanded me to stop. That she got the message. I couldn't do anything. I told her I had forgotten all about it and that I "stopped" 5 min after I started. The messages were in the ether and on their way. It's in God's hands now.

Blocking does nothing for my phone. Someone put me in a fantasy football group chat and "leaving the conversation" does nothing so I blocked every number in the group and it does nothing. I eventually changed the custom ringtone to a null sound and that's the best I can do.
