Accountability Daily Accountability Thread - April 05, 2025
Hi everyone! This is the Accountability Thread where people can list what they need or want to accomplish today and have everyone else help keep you accountable to do them. So, in general, a post will look like this:
Things I have to get done today:
1: Post Accountability Thread
If I had more to do that I had not completed I would list them and update this when these things were complete.
Also, if I saw someone doing something that I happen to be well-educated or have some sort of expertise in I can offer support or help on the topic/task.
The thread is a versatile one, use it in a way that helps you and others stay on task!
Happy studying!

Giving Advice Stop overthinking today!
If you are an overthinker, then read these words like your life depends on it. Because it does. You’re not tired. You’re not broken. You’re just a prisoner of your own damn thoughts. You sit there, overthinking everything, every decision, every risk, every word you say, every step you might take. You know what that is? That’s mental self-harm. You’re stabbing your own future with the knives of doubt. You’re not being careful, you’re just being a coward. Yeah. I said it. Because someone has to. You’re so busy building worst-case scenarios in your head that you’re living in a world that doesn’t even exist. You’re so scared of falling that you never walk. You’re so obsessed with being perfect that you’ve become perfectly useless. Let me tell you the truth that no one dares to say: You will waste your life if you don’t start moving. And don’t feed me that “I don’t feel ready” excuse. No one feels ready. Confidence doesn’t come before action, it comes after you’ve survived doing it scared. You want to be bold? Then bleed for it. So here’s what you do. • Write your worst thoughts down. All of them. Then rip that page up. Burn it. Spit on it if you want. Just externalize it. Stop letting your mind be a battleground. Make it a weapon.
You don't need more time. You don't need more thinking. You need to do. Move. Mess up. Learn. Adjust. But for the love of everything, stop standing still. Because if you don't change right now, today, this moment-you never will.
Because right now, your mind is not your friend. It’s your enemy. And unless you take back control, it’s going to bury you alive. And I swear to you, if you do nothing… if you keep sitting there, lost in thought, letting another day, another dream, another version of yourself die… if you keep overthinking until your dreams rot in their graves— Fine. Stay there. But don’t you ever say no one tried to save you.

Giving Advice How I get 90%+ in math every single time

I went from constantly failing math to getting above 90% consistently. Here's my method:
1. Single Note System
- I maintain one comprehensive note file called "summary" instead of separate notes for different lectures
- This makes everything easily searchable and interconnected
2. Recipe-Style Learning
- Convert every example into a step-by-step recipe
- Write down ALL steps, no matter how small
- List all variables and assumptions, like listing ingredients for cooking
- This builds a library of variations for exam questions
3. Practice Efficiency
- Use the recipe-style notes during practice
- Follow documented steps until they become second nature
- Building this system means you'll have templates for most question types you'll encounter
4. Formula Flashcards
- Create flashcards for key formulas and their applications
- On the front: problem type or scenario
- On the back: relevant formulas and when to use them
- Review regularly to build quick formula recall
5. Multiple Resources
- Look at explanations from different universities and YouTube channels
- Different explanations can provide better understanding perspectives
Key is systematization - turn math problems into repeatable recipes rather than trying to memorize solutions.

Giving Advice How to not feel suicidal studying
I'm a junior in high school so there aren't many options for my courses. Every time I open a book I wish I were in the States so I could shoot myself. But even if I focus and try to get through I get Ds. Nothing can convince me at this point to study harder. I gave up on so many hobbies and skill building just so I can focus on studying and it didn't bring me anywhere. Is there food or drink that makes you understand content better?

Giving Advice Some advice please... I need help convincing my parents about school.
I am a grade 11 student who just finished my grade 10 boards (by 'just' I mean 3 weeks ago) and now my break is almost about to get over. During the break I joined a coaching class that started only 5 days after my exam got over. The thing with me is I can retain information pretty well and I get good grades and even top the class half the times without puttnng in much effort at all. But the disadvantage that comes with this ability is that I get bored by learning the same topic even twice. Also in my school the teachers all aren't that great. We have a huge strength and the teachers literally don't get paid enough to care. Now in my coaching classes the math teacher doesn't have good reviews but he seems really fine to me. Out of all the subjects I only like his class much but I've only attended around 5 classes.... So my parents believe I can't judge his teaching. But I seem to like it. I don't have high hopes for my teacher from school. And now my parents have decided to put me in a separate coaching class for maths alone. I tried at first to explain to them that I like this math teacher from coaching and that I'm fine with his teacher but they don't seem to accept that. Then I told them that we could just check how the classes go on for a month and then join these extra classes for maths cause I'll be able to judge it at that point, but they are not agreeing for this also. Chat help me from this damn situation 😭😭 idk what to do when they just don't get me. If I go to all 3 math classes the I'll die of boredom before the second month.

Question How do I find time to study what I love?
Most of my time is spend with work and family responsibilities, and then on top of that I have to do a degree I hate because of the system in my country, I rarely get any stretch of time to fully immerse in the subjects of liking. How do I find the time to do so?

Giving Advice I got a 28/50 for an English test recently and I keep getting nightmares/constant bad thoughts because of it.
The thing is that I have never hit lower 50s before EVER when it came to tests. Am I giving up subconsciously with school? It just feels that I work the same if not even harder but the results are becoming worse.

I struggle with school and I’m on the waiting list to be diagnosed with dyslexia so I’ll probably never get the proper support for my brain. does anyone have any tips for studying for exams? does exams really have to be that hard and stressful? are they really that important or are the teachers just overreacting? anything please!

Question Anxiety while studying
Hi, I am studying for a competitive exam while working full time with a hectic job (trying to switch jobs as well) with a 2 hour commute. Im managing all this well I think but the problem i am facing is when I attend classes or study with full focus, my mind kinda wanders elsewhere and i start to worry about work or about switching jobs or about if in new job ill be able to manage my studies. This starts making me very anxious and then I am not able to focus. Can someone tell me why this happens and how can i prevent it?
