This started After downloading the latest update, i have tried deleting and redownloading the update several times but the problem persists. Might be an issue with my laptop (MacBook Air 2015)

I got GIMP 3.0 a couple of weeks ago, and it's been all right, except for one issue: when it arranges files and folders in alphabetical order, it LITERALLY arranges EVERYTHING in alphabetical order, so in other words, files and folders get mixed in with each other. Is there any way to separate these?
Hello, I'm working on making translated version of some cards and I need some help because gimp keeps "frying" (I don't know the right term for it) the text background.
Screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/98N23oJ
What I did is open the base card image (PNG) in gimp, drag-and-drop the text background image (the grey textured text background, also a PNG), and then add a text layer on top.
The first time I work on this card I can save and export to PNG just fine. But after I close the file and open it again, only the text background texture layer is ruined. Exporting again to PNG will keep the ruined version.
This does not happen every time. There are other cards that use the same text background and they were fine.
Did I do something wrong? Is this just a bug?

A simple answer (I hope). I'm still on 2.10.25 where most of my filters and plugins work. I see mentions of GEGL and plugins for gimp 3.02 and am I correct in assuming that where possible older plugins are slowly being rewritten so they work in the new GIMP. Gimpchat has quite a few posts but no clear messaging on this trend. I'm not a coder and I appreciate the work they do.im just hoping that favourites of mine will appear there one day such as Make Wonderful and Beautify,

Hello, I think Gimp 3 is really nice so far but I never use non destructive editing in any software because i work with games and at volume it slows me down and feeds severe second guessing perfectionism problems for me (I don't use project files either for that same reason) so I would very much like to disable it in Gimp 3, is there a way to do so?

I am isolating sections of paths I created around objects. I wish for those isolated sections to become new seperate paths; however, when using "extract_anchors" from the script ofn-path-edits by Ofnuts, it does not work out the way I want it.
The path I get is weirdly enclosed by an extra line on each side of the selected section. How do I ensure that the straight line (see picture) is not included?

I have an image that is 5040 x 3564mm (which can be perfectly scaled down to A2 size when printed). I don't want the image size smaller as it'll ruin quality when given to the printer.
I would like to print this image on an A3 sheet, so basically want a white border around my 5040x3564mm image that would make the file size (which can be scaled down to be an A3 print, with an A4 image inked area).
Not sure if that makes sense but how to I put a white border around my image so I can ultimate save the file and print it as an A3 print.

Hello everyone,
I have updated my ComfyUI Gimp plugins for 3.0. It's still a work in progress, but currently in a usable state.
All processing is done through ComfyUI, results will depend on your own settings and hardware.
Feel free to reach out with feedback or questions!

Hey everyone,
I've just updated to GIMP 3.0.2 via Flatpak on Debian 12, and I'm having a major issue: none of my plugins are showing up. I had a bunch installed previously, but it's like GIMP is completely ignoring them.
Has anyone else encountered this after updating? Any ideas on how to fix this? I've checked plugin folders (where I think they should be for Flatpak), but no luck.
I even added my custom path for plug-ins
More info: Debian 12, Flatpak, GIMP 3.0.2
- After watching the logs, I am sure folder is getting accessed, because i put one wrong file in it and error shows invalid file.
- Also, these are python plugin, and yes it's for 3.0 that I am sure of.
- I saw plugins were working on 3.0, I don't know how to downgrade anyway.
Thanks!

I really cannot wrap my head around some of the more complicated stuff in GIMP. I can do basic image editing, I can export stuff pretty reliably. But stuff like new extensions or whatever is basically impossible for me. I barely even know what Github is, let alone how to add new stuff to GIMP with it.
I'm trying to learn how to edit gif files in GIMP. As an example, I'm trying to add text to a GIF that's visible in all frames of it, but I'm really struggling. A more advanced idea is to do the same but with two GIFs, stacking them on top of each other.
Can someone explain it to me? My brain is super smooth tho, so please be patient.

so I'm a digital artist and I recently installed GIMP to export images into PSD files. usually when it comes to printing my artwork I use Clip studio paint and export the image into a TIFF file in CMYK color format. doing this my images look perfectly fine printed. however, when I try to export images into CMYK using GIMP the colors come out extremely janky and saturated. there's also this thick white border around my images when I export them into PSDs ?? sorry if I've explained this poorly, I'm not tech savvy and have only recently started learning this stuff but yeah, I just want to know how to export my artwork into a PSD and CMYK format while staying as close to the original as possible, can anyone help?

Ive used it for a couple of hours and while it certainly has a nice initial appearance there appears to be many unnecessary changes.
On the plus side the bug with clicking in a dead space of a floating window has been fixed. Before GIMP interpreted it incorrectly. It would treat it as if youre clicking on the image in the background.
Ive been a big fan of GIMP over the years and used it for everyday for work. However there doesnt appear to be a solid reason to shift from the previous version.
(edit: If anyone is experiencing the same issues there are sites that keep older versions. "ver. 2.10.28" appears to the last official update of the previous version)

Hey,
Im working on a project of mapping Mars, and had to learn a lot of programs to do that. I use Gimp for stitching several images together, equalize the colors and brightness etc, but have run into a problem. I would like to:
I have very surface level knowledge of Gimp, and have no idea how easy or hard those tasks are, and dont want to browse through dozens of tutorials to find the answer. Is there some soul kind enough to guide me?
Thank you in advance

I could very well be missing a function somewhere, but the help manual reads "You can select several layers by holding Shift when clicking the layers". This worked for me in 2.1
In 3.0, when i hold "Shift" and click other layers it just selects the newly clicked layer as an individual rather than adding to the group. I'm assuming that I've missed a function somewhere in here, looking for some guidance in correcting this.
Thanks in advance.

Hello! I have to use GIMP for a final project, but I have no idea how to input a scale bar on to my image. I'm not tech savvy whatsoever, so this has been a bit of a challenge for me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I been doing all kinds of video watching and tutorials, and this simple question is driving me up the wall. Im using term masking as in the classic masking of something so it doesn't get painted over, like you might mask something with masking tape and paper.
I've tried all manner of Gimp masks, painting, white, black, etc. In my picture link, I want to paste in another picture of batman, but because he is cut and pasted in from another picture, I want to be able to blend white/yellow area around him vigorously so that it matches the linked picture's background. So the goal of my mask is to protect the black batman silouhette so I can't accidentally draw on him while trying to change the colors around him.
Thanks for your input!

I'll try to lay this out succinctly. I'm not normally an image/graphics person, however, I really don't want to bother my coworker during their PTO so I am trying my best.
I have two images. Image A and Image B are 2d art of a character. The dimensions/proportions of the character, as well as the pose they are in, are completely identical in every way.
Where these two images differ is that the character has different identifying marks (tattoos, piercings, scars) in each image.
I would like to synthesize these two images into an Image C which contains both sets of identifying marks derived from Image A & Image B.
Is that a thing I can do?
I've consulted youtube at length for the last couple hours, but I just keep getting tutorials on how to blend different photos together into a composite image, which is not what I am after.
I would like A & B on top of each other, with both showing through.
