So literally yesterday me and my boy set out to go paint some shit. We found a nice spot down by the dam, but there was graffiti already there. It was faded and already capped. Above it was a big blockbuster roller piece of their graff troop. Nice, big and up high. Now me and my buddy decided to paint there since the graff that capped was toy, along with it being faded. Had a good paint sesh. Felt good with the results. I took some flicks, and went about the rest of my day. Posted the pieces on insta and one of the dudes from the group (who didn’t even get capped) dm’d me and my buddy and was PISSED. Told him the situation and he said we shouldn’t even have done it. Here was my thinking. A) it’s faded. Guy hasn’t been here in a min. Might be a cool spot B) toy graff over the good shit. Again haven’t been there in a min. C) we followed all the rules and took pics of what was there before. (I will disclose those pics below).
So who was right? Who was wrong? Is he buggin? Or were we “disrespecting the graff game itself”?

To draw some context:
This video was filmed in early 2000s in Poland. Meanwhile today Poland is a developed country with a strong and growing economy in the 90s and early 2000s it was a very different and much wilder place.
Communism fell in Poland in 1990. Excluding a 20 year interwar period it was the first time it became an independent country since the past 200 years. It was a time of thriving gangs, bribes, bootleg CDs, rise of hip hop culture and the first time we had access to western media. Unlike in many other western countries which were mimicking the US with their rap music, Poland had its own roots of hip hop culture. Our early rap music was very different to the western rap of that time. In the 90s poland was a very poor country, in 1995 (with period correct exchange rates) the average annual salary of a Polish citizen was $3200. These conditions played a significant role in the rise of hip hop culture in Poland, rooted in poverty and “street life”.
Because of limited access to internet in the 90s, especially in not that wealthy Poland, our rap music and graffiti evolved here in its own natural way. We knew about graffiti and rap, maybe saw a piece here and there but for the most part we only had a loose idea of what it was. This resulted in a very unique style that has developed somewhat independently of the western world.
The video I link here is from the year 2003, very underground even in Poland. It was shown to me by my writer friend who’s very invested in the history of Polish graffiti. I only felt it was right to share it with yall as it is a very cool piece of graffiti history.
I wasn’t sure where to post this, I hope the mods will be chill enough to let it be and appreciate the video as well.

Some lines definitely need some work to keep them clean, but seems decent. Also the line that goes in the middle is a different color than the 3d but it’s hard to tell in the photo
