Do you guys keep original boxes? I'm cleaning right now and about to get rid of so many boxes because I have no plans to sell these guns so I don't see the value in keeping OEM packaging.

So this may sound like a stupid question, but as im coming from a nation where guns and hunting isnt wide spread at all a certain question araised.
With birdshot you obviously hunt birds because you dont need much penetration or stopping power but a lot of projectiles coverinh a somehwat bigger area because...well flying birds are relatively hard to hit.
And for deer or hogs wouldnt the best pick be a slug? My thoughts were: Its not like buckshot would be more accurate (in a smoothbore shotgun), especially at distances where slugs struggle with accuracy. And at smaller distances the spread of buckshot is also pretty small, a least from what i saw on paper targest. Often not bigger than a fist.
So why would you choose buckshot over a slug?
Or what am I getting wrong?

For context, I am a commissioned officer in the marine corps. I have worked exclusively in the infantry or related roles, including a short stint as a contractor.
I am very familiar with firearms. I have shot competitively on several occasions, both for the marine corps and privately.
My question is primarily targeted at build enthusiasts, manufacturers etc etc.
The bullpup style rifle has interested me since I was a child. Especially now as an adult, having a full length barrel in a shorter platform just makes sense to me. I have worked with many bullpup platforms from the SA80 to the AuG and the Tar21. And all of them suck. I mean, they are really fucking awful to use.
I recently got my hands on a RDB and that was the first bullpup rifle that actually felt like it was made to be a rifle.
Is there a reason why more bullpups arnt built like the RDB? Why does every bullpup have brain dead ergonomics and virtually no ability to vary attachments?
Why is Mlok or picatini not on every single bullpup like it is on ARs?
I'm genuinely baffled that there isn't an AR that simply had the magazine well moved behind the trigger. Keep the rest of the rifle the same and just move the internals.
Is there an actual reason for this or is it just designer ignorance?
And finally, why is every bullpup a 16" or shorter? You cut the size down, can I have a 24" RDB please? How nice would it be to retain the performance of 20" or 24" barrel without feeling like tour carrying a musket around? Is there a good reason for bullpups almost exclusively coming in 16" barrels or shorter?

I like black too, black is good.
I've been a little more indecisive on optics on the bottom rifle ... the PA 3x Microprism and 5x SLx off to the side worked well, but something about having the unlimited eye relief/box for 1x kept drawing me back to the red dot & magnifier option. (*Not me* finding out about the Elcan Specter and tearing up at the price).

AP5M SBR. Now my lazy ass needs to drop the SEF pack, and source some straight 30rd mags...lol?
Since my last scope failed me I got a new one this week. When I went to shoot with it, the scope moved a bit forward. The rings are made by Dentler and they are basically 2/3 or 3/4 rings. The last scope moved a bit in the rings as well but it stopped after readjusting.
This time the guy at the gun store (different one than last) mounted it using some sort of glue that when dry becomes a lot like rubber. Any idea on what to do to stop it from slipping?
Schmidt & Bender manual says to use a latex glove in the rings, Dentler says to use glue in the lower part of the ring.
May rosin work better? I don't want to permanently glue it to the rings as well, anything that can be removed without damage would be best.
Rifle is a Steyr Gams in .308Win (weighs about 2.4kg/5.3lbs, scope about 0.7kg/1.5lbs and silencer about 0.3kg/0.65lbs)
I shoot with a thermal clip as well which also comes in at around 0.5kg/1.1lb so scope with that is about 1.2kg/2.6lbs.

This is my first AK, do I need to buy a track suit or will I just grow one?

Picked up a 1720 pelican solely for its more compact size compared to the other long cases.
I feel like this is as tight as I can get everything in here, but would like a 2nd set of eyes to either approve or disapprove before I cut

Opportunity to get this collection, but will have to work with estate and will be tricky to get everything. Anything potentially rare or collectible I should know about? I plan to keep these ‘Ad Infinitum’

If I were to move from North Carolina to New York, will I be ok just bringing my guns with me or should I do something in advance? I have a CC permit in NC already would I need to get one for New York? Will I even be allowed to bring guns to a state like New York?

If I travel through a state with magazine restrictions like CT where a 15 round mag is a felony am I protected by FOPA?

I ran into this old local news report on military gun lubes. I suspect that it may be b*ll_sh*t, but would like to hear the opinion of more experienced firearm owners.

I have been shooting for years, never ever owned a glock myself but every time I go shooting with friends, at least one ends up on the range. I'm ALWAYS low left (left handed if it matters). What can I adjust/what am I missing? Praying I'm not the only one. No similar issues with any of my other handguns.

I recently asked a question about lubes for firearms and got a bunch of insightful and helpful answers. Thanks. everyone! I have a related question: I may be going overseas for an unknown period of time and will be storing my firearms in a humidity controlled gun safe (but of course the dehumidifier could fail). Most are Parkerized but a couple are blued. What is the best lubricant/protective film for long term storage? What I want to avoid is anything that will evaporate, go rancid, turn into sticky gunk, or otherwise degrade over time. If it was suitable for daily use that would be a plus, but I am willing to clean and relube when I get back if that means better protection.

There's a lot of relatively uncommon models out there - S&W's many varied 'Mountain Guns', the Davidson's Exclusives, Talo edition Rugers, oddball calibers, etc.
When you're shopping for one of these that isn't currently in production, what do you do?
My current strategy is limited to:
1) Check WikiArms and GunDeals. Not the manufacturer's model number / codes.
2) Search GunsInternational, GunsAmerica, ImpactGuns, Buds - any other big online retailers
3) Search BattlehawkArmory, G4G, etc. - any dropshippers I'm familiar with
4) (*Sigh) Check Gunbroker
5) Pop unique search terms (especially the production codes) into my favorite search engine and send them. Then add "used" or "classified" to find various regional forums' private seller listings
Are there any other search techniques or good retailers or websites to check? I live in a remote area so I mostly am limited to online searches, but if there's big box stores with massive used sections that would be helpful to know about.
