HD MOD in 4k possible?

Hello,

I just downloaded the HoMM3 HD Mod and was wondering if you can use it properly on a 4k Monitor?

I tried a lot of settings, either the window is extremly small (and crip) or big and not crisp at all.

Hi,

I personally set it to run in FullHD and 2x scaled. This way it looks good on my 32” 4K display still providing a much bigger observable area than using the original resolution.

You can also experiment with different resolutions + windowed mode and see what you like best.

Hope this helps.

If I set it to 1920x1080 scale 2x full screen the screen is really small on my 4k 32 inch monitor

For me 1475 x 830 is the one that looks best.

On my 4k monitor I play with following settings for HotA:

Mode: (stretchable) 32-bit GDI

Source size: 2560x1440

Stretch filter: SmoothSal x2 + Bilinear 2x Sharper

Render threads: 16

No "Full screeen mode" and no "Maximized window mode".

For SoD replace stretch filter with: Scale2x + Bilinear Sharper.

I can't tell you why I have 2 different stretch filters. I just had those setting for very long time now. I seem to recall that those couple of years ago HotA and SoD had different filters available in HD mod and I chose 2 that looked the closest to each other. But I'm not sure.

Anyway those settings allow me to move game around between 4k and 2k monitors and it looks decent enough both windowed and with maximized window on 4k. But I also have 4k monitor set to 125% in Windows settings, not sure if it affects HotA and HoMM3. Anyway downside of this solution is lack of full screen, so you'll have title bar on top.
