Bots.
I know a lot of you are annoyed at all the bots that come into this sub, post random crap and steal the top comment of whatever random crap they're stealing, just to farm karma. The mod team is annoyed, too.
The good news is that when you report them, it makes it easier for us to take action. When we take action along with other subs those bots get banned from, those users more often than not end up being suspended by Reddit.
Reddit has recently made some new community tools available to moderators. I'll be experimenting with them in the coming days to see if we can cut back on some of the bot noise without negatively impacting our regular or potential new members. Please feel free to provide any feedback, complaints, or suggestions in this thread!
We're always trying to make sure these bots can't just use our little community as a karma farm. Your reports are a huge help to everyone in this community. I would personally like to thank each and every one of you who has reported one of these bots and making our community a better place.

Job offer WITH degree for $20 an hour.
I have 29 years CORP IT experience, laid off 5 times, companies closing, CEO's arrested, contracts cancelled, the whole shebang! I'm the dude you send into the C-Level suit because I can talk to them in a way that doesn't get people fired. You're emailing me and offering me a $20 an hour (On-Site)?!?! I work in a bar now and make more than I was making as a Global IT Product Manager @ S**MENS and I get to occasionally put punks to sleep. Yeah, thanks, but NO thanks!

So, you tried to make your environment better. You became the SME and now you’re the only one left who knows how to it.

THAT CANT BE THE ANSWER TO EVERYTHING!
So about 30 minutes after I changed my Teams status to Available "that user" decided to message me. We all know "that user", the one who wants to find problems that aren't there.
"I can't login to the system! What's changed since yesterday?"
User is referring to a SaaS platform we use, this system expires user passwords after 90 days but doesn't have any notification method to alert them this has happened. I login to check the logs, but before I can respond to him....
"I'm not changing my password! That can't be the answer to everything!"
Me: "Did you try changing your password?"
"I'm Not"
Me: "There's no way for me to unlock your account, best I can do is send the password reset email to you, but you can also do that on the login page yourself."
Crickets
"I didn't receive an email my password expired, how do you know that's it?"
Me: "I don't think this system has that feature, but I can open a ticket with the vendor to find out for you. They usually reply within 2 days."
More crickets I see in the logs that user requested a reset
"OK I'm in now"
Ticket closed
Gotta love those users

It's been three hours...
Wednesday
Me: "I can bring your new computers to setup in your office on Friday."
Client: "Great! I will not be there, but will write down my passwords for you."
Me: "Sounds good!"
Friday
Me (via text): "Hey, I'm here and can't find your passwords. Can you text it to me?"
Client: "..."
We do not keep records of individual user passwords, only admin passwords for systems. The client had 48 hours to write, at the very least, her desktop password down and failed to do so. Both I and her husband have sent numerous text messages and calls and she has not responded. I will be billing for the time I have spent here, minus the 45 minutes I took to take a walk, grab some lunch, and blow up their first-floor bathroom. I'll most likely be doing the one hour round-trip back here on Monday, for which I will also be billing them.

Ok, Which One Of You Ate A CMOS Battery?
More and more new PCs are coming with a warning label on the case about NOT eating the CR2032 contained inside. Which means that someone tried, sued, and probably won - hence the stickers.
'Fess up. Who's responsible for this?

Everything at Boyd tools.com
I was just telling my boss and coworker about Everything which is an awesome instant file search utility. I was telling them where to find it but headset hearing struck
Me: "You just go to voidtools.com"
Coworker: "Boydtools?"
Me: "Yeah voidtools"
Coworker: Laughing "That sounds like it might have some other stuff on it"
Boss: "Boydtools? You go to boydtools.com?"
Me: "Yeah voidtools.com"
Boss: "That's not working for me. It says page not found"
Me: "It's V O I D tools.com"
Corworker: "B O I D tools.com?"
Me: "NO its V like Victor!"
Boss and Coworker: Finally ooing and aweing over the program.
They were hearing my V as B and I heard their B as V lmao. Wearing headsets is not a victimless crime.
It does makes me wonder what kind of utilities you might find on boydtools.com

This was a new one...
Sorry for the potato photo. Can't access Reddit on the work network... Anyways, was checking out a network connection that I had just installed and noticed this fun little Easter Egg that the user had somehow managed to do. For those not a Network guru, they somehow managed to change the DNS suffix for their docking station Ethernet port. Still trying to figure out how they did it without Admin privileges but definitely made me laugh when I saw it.

How can I get rid of a whole department without getting in trouble/fired?
Hi everyone, I'm a network tech for a local college and I'm having issues with a whole department. I've tried being nice and I've tried being stern. Everytime I turn around one of the individuals are calling my department for trivial matters. Anyone knows how to mess with them without getting caught?
