Just moved to Illinois - Question about registering car here
I just moved to Illinois from Indiana and am needing to register my car. It's currently registered in Indiana and I'm paying on it since 2021 (about to pay it off at the end of the year).
The car is registered in both mine and my mom's name. My mom is still in Indiana. Since we are both on the title and she is back in IN, do I need to register my car in Illinois?
I already got IL insurance.

Road trip ideas
Hey all, I’m planning a road trip throughout Illinois, and I’m wondering for some stuff to do and eat and see etc. Right now, we’ll be going to galena, quad cities, Springfield, St. Louis (yeah I know not Illinois but it’s close so whatever) and Champaign.
Anyone got any things they like to do in those places, or maybe somewhere close to them? This’ll be around 6 days long. Thanks!

Have any of you used a private mailbox or a PO box on your driver's/state license?
I'm interested. I've been browsing Reddit for a while on this topic and it seems split on whether or not it works. Not sure if people are getting away with it in specific states. If this is possible in IL, I'd like to know

Run for office?
Long story short- I’m a middle age, white woman with children in elementary school in Central Illinois. My husband and I own a small rental business and he works full time in HR at a reputable local company. I’m PTO President at our kid’s school and run the day to day dealings of our rental business. I’m also super pissed about all the things. Trump, MAGA, the embarrassment our country has become. I’ve been told by multiple people I should consider politics, mostly based on my personality and leadership skills. What are your thoughts and advice for someone of my background regarding this?
EDIT: Thank you all for the words of encouragement and for some really great ideas! I think I’m going to do it!

Illinois tollway is such a scam
I had a transponder that Just recently expired. I had been using it for years with my correct plates on my account. Come this year I got an invoice that I owed 185.00 for 40 something in missed tolls. I tried to pay online and nothing g was showing in my account. I called a number of times and no one picked up.
Yesterday I got a third notice; this morning I found a different number and called that one and lo and behold got through to someone.
Explained why I was calling and that I had tried numerous times before. Dude was pissy from the get go. Got me verified, looked up my account and said it’s because I had the wrong plate type selected. Huh, ok. Had me add another vehicle (same car and plates) and select other/specialty. Ok, done. I never did that with this or previous plates and the transponder worked just fine. No where did it explain that I needed to do it that way, just what he said
After doing this the balance magically showed up. Through all of this asshat kept raising his voice at me; ok, I was incredibly polite through it all and stayed that way. I asked questions and did tell him huh, it always worked fine before, I could see all avtivity, added money when low, etc.
He told me in an extremely condescending tone that I would have been getting invoices since last January since I had outstanding tools since then. Nope, never got one last year, only got them this year.
I asked if the fines and whatnot could be waived since a. I had been trying to pay it. And b., how was I supposed to know that I had selected the wrong g plate typed when it had always worked before.
Dude got pissssed and raised his voice and told me no one could waive them because they were so old, I said not the ones from January last year, just the ones in December. NO ONE CAN WAIVE THOSE. Ok.
Went and paid the 185 with money I don’t have to be spending rn.
Wondering if I should call back on Monday and ask for a sup, or if they have a fb page (someone here might know that) explain what happened and ask them to listen to the recording and ask if there is anything they can do towards waiving some of the penalties and late charges because again, 40 something g in actual tolls and had to pay 185.00 today.
Kind folks of Illinois, my home state (live in Wisconsin now because property taxes in lake county, still say I’m from Illinois); what do you suggest?
