Update: i have returned after watching all 3 of her rounds. It was hilarious and delightful, and the fact that she's a 36 year old doctor was the cherry on top. It was bad, like, atrocious, but I could tell she was having fun and it brought me joy that she kept going and that the commenters did not know what to do with her. She should be treasured.

Yeah, her undergrad was in Throwdownosophy and Cyience, with her PhD in pure Breakology.

Her thesis actually was called Deterritorializing Gender in Sydney's Breakdancing Scene: A B-girl's Experience of B-boying.

Yep, there’s even doctorate in nursing, which is ridiculous as a title. They need to either designate non-medical doctorate degrees with a different term or designate medical doctorate degrees with a different term. Patients literally get confused all the time, and it’s to their detriment.

At first a lot of Australia felt something like that. But since she got back she's made a dickhead out of herself suing a small comedy show that was using her likeness (with the profits going to a woman's domestic violence shelter) that we've mostly turned against her. Raygun can fuck off.

As an Aussie, she’s a rich, privileged, smug cu next Tuesday. Her husband is her coach and was one of her judges in the qualifying round that let her win, and go on to the Olympics. We don’t like her at all down here. She can get farked .

It's weird how much hate she got. Especially when you compare her with beloved competitors like Eddie the Eagle or Eric the Eel. I wonder what is different with her compared to those two guys. Can't put my finger on it, really.

That she took the place of serious competitors makes her less of a beloved underdog figure than someone stepping up because no one in their country has those skills. Not saying that misogyny had no role in the reaction but it’s not the main thing.
