It's not fully self service, a mcdonald's team member still sits on all of the burgers to flatten them out.

I went to a McDonald's several years ago and walked up to the cashier. She just ignored me for a minute, then stared at my then was like "the kiosk is right there". Because apparently even though she was being paid to take orders, I eat inconveniencing her by expecting her to take my order so are told me to go to the kiosk. I wanted a special order which is why I went to the counter.

McDonald is so expensive nowadays it's ridiculous and half the time my burger is completely smashed and something it missing or mixed up with another customer. It's become a joke, like many other fast food chain.
