I had a similar thing but it was wasps. And instead of the entrance being outside, it was in my bathroom. But my landlord said it was fine

Have you ever killed 300 wasps in 10 minutes with a can of raid? I have. Shit changes you.

No but i hired a exterminator who turned out to be some adhd lawyer doing it in his off time because he got off on the thrill of fucking with wasps

That fucking guy pulls up in a Mercedes and in a suit and pops the trunk gets a beesuit out and a canister with white powder and a sprayer and went to town on them

'haha look i bombed the shit out of them with neurotoxin look at em drop DAS A BIG ONE'

Best 64 bucks spent ever

ADHD side quests... I remember the lawyer who was driving for Uber and recorded his interaction with the police. Like it pays well, but the work is not actually fulfilling. The majority of lawyers never step foot in a courtroom.

u/jesusismyupline 2d ago

I'm in court almost every day, I just want to manage a jet ski rental shop in my next life. Criminal defense work is the reason I box at night, that shit will crush your soul if you let it.

4

u/Eating_sweet_ass 2d ago

I’ve always said I just want to quit my job and sell my house and buy a hit on a beach on a tropical island and rent mopeds and jet skis to tourists. Now I have a good job with a pension and everything so I have to stick it out a bit longer, but it’s still my dream for when I retire if I still need some income.

Most lawyers actually don’t get paid that much considering the number of years spent to get there. Unless you’re walking out of a top university into big law making less than 6 figures is the norm.

5

u/CrimtheCold 2d ago

Mix the legal acumen from a law degree with cybersecurity and you have a position at nearly every company because you will know compliance laws better than other cybersecurity guys. Pay is generally better on the low end as well. You start with higher wages. The top end can be just as high.

I need to know where this service is

34

u/armagnacXO 2d ago

When I was 8 or 9 my best buddy at the time would spend entire afternoons going from house to house in the neighbourhood armed with super soakers and whacking sticks taking out wasps. It felt dangerous and rewarding...but we felt like we were doing the community a service. Good times.

9

u/OkDanNi 2d ago

I love that kind of childhood memories. Although I never went wasp hunting, it sounds like a great adventure.

9

u/armagnacXO 2d ago

Also this was when we living in West Africa, you wouldn’t believe how gnarly some of the varieties of wasps out there were. Absolute beasts. We knew where to look, any drains, large piping, outdoor terraces there would always be a small nest, definitely honed out super soaker skills taking those out!

4

u/OkDanNi 2d ago

Haha awesome! Meanwhile when we had wasp nests on our apartment building's roof, the fire department needs to comes handle them. They were under our roofing material and came back 4 years in a row.

u/plaith 3d ago

Nah, but I had a yellow jacket with its back entrance behind the panel for the electrical sockets. Took 4 calls, and finally saying, I may need an electrician. The wall is humming and warm, I'm worried it may cause a fire. Not even 15 minutes later an electrician is there, and probably 2 minutes later we're they going to war with it. I lost count at killing 200+ in an hour. I legitimately thought I was going crazy.

8

u/anal_opera 3d ago

I'm surprised they even dealt with the bees instead of just turning off the power and telling an exterminator to come handle it.

84

u/nobodyspecial767r 3d ago

There was video not long ago on interestingasfuck that was a cup of gas in a container then lifted it up to cover the beehive and they all died and fell in the gas.

45

u/reaperofgender 3d ago

Often those are done with chemicals that knock the wasps out so you can move the nest. Wasps are very helpful for pest control, so long as the nests aren't near where you're walking.

105

u/Bigallround 3d ago

My final solution was another can of raid duct taped to a hose pipe and shoved into their nest. The wall vibrated as they buzzed to their deaths. I care for most living things but those cunts can rot in hell.

54

u/reaperofgender 3d ago

Most wasps are rather friendly so long as you don't get near the nest. They can even recognize some humans as nice and others as threats.

Yellow Jackets though have a taste for blood.

My skin felt like I had been shocked with electricity when I was stung by a yellow jacket. It lasted for a few days and I swear a jolt would make me flinch and yelp in pain. The area where I was stung took a long time to heal and looked so gross as it did. I. Hate. Yellowjackets.

10

u/High_Flyers17 3d ago

Those fuckers that live in the ground are the worst. Just surprise landmines of cigarette burns. Used to do landscaping and was knocking down brush on a bank with pole shears. Stepped into a nest and ended up with over 30 stings. Thank god I was worried about poison and wore pants. My crew got to watch me roll down that bank, run until they stopped chasing me and roll around on the ground trying to kill the ones clung to me in groups humping away at the legs of my pants.

3

u/throcorfe 3d ago

I hate them too but that sounds like they’ve somehow caught a nerve or maybe you have a mild allergy to the sting? When I was stung by a Yellowjacket it was like a hot needle (I thought I was having a heart attack at first as it had crawled up my shirt) but the pain was gone within a few hours

Bruh. I had a family reunion at a state park like 20 years ago. We went early and I killed about a hundred of wasps over the course of 2 hours with a rolled up newspaper. I felt like a war hero.

...until later in the day my baby brother got stung on the lip after taking a drink from a soda can with a wasp in it.

It tried bro, I tried. 😭

225

u/huskeya4 3d ago

He said it’s an observation hive. Likely only for looking since the risk of opening those hives inside the home is just not worth it.

22

u/Brendan056 2d ago

Wonder what the other side of that glass will look like in a couple years time, if he’s not planning on opening that up.. I imagine it’ll be pretty dirty

20

u/TossMeOutSomeday 2d ago

I'd imagine the bees probably clean up their own living space. But if they decide to start building combs on the glass then there's not really anything you can do about it.

→ More replies (1)

6

u/DarthJarJarJar 3d ago

You take them outside to open them. Close off the tubes, take the hive off the wall, take it outside, open it, do what you need to do to maintain it, then close it up and bring it back inside and re-connect the tubes again.

7

u/huskeya4 2d ago

I still don’t think it would really be worth carrying a hive of bees through the house on the risk that you trip. Seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

Perfect home defense system. If you ever get burglarized, release the bees and watch the chaos!

143

u/kahran 3d ago edited 3d ago

It looks like there was a camera mounted on top of one of the cells.

Imagine you're at work. Your camera alerts to your phone with live video and audio of what's happening. You remotely lock your doors from the inside. Cue "Flight of the Bumblebee" as the bee windows open slowly.

Oh wait, is that the new maid? It's not like you can recall the bees. And Maria couldn't afford to keep an EpiPen on her at all times. What are you going to do now? You're going down for this if you don't do something. You rush home to the sound of ringing. It's Maria's phone. Maria's husband Dave keeps calling her cell phone. 11 missed calls. You start to hear a buzzing. A buzzing sound that keeps getting louder. So loud you can practically feel it. As if a bee crawled into your ear. That's it! That's what must have happened. You could figure out what to do if it weren't for that damned buzzing. So you start digging in your ear with your car keys. It doesn't help. It's maddening. You would do anything to make it stop. You decide enough is enough. You gather all 19 large mason jars of honey that you have and even though you're diabetic you start to guzzle down that honey. It takes you a while but you actually manage to consume all of it. Your skin feels like it's buzzing now too. Your plan doesn't work and you just feel really sick. You pass out.... And when you awaken, you're back at work in your cubicle. Your boss is standing over you. You had fallen asleep. Again. It's the third time it's happened and you had been warned. You're fired. You start to hear a buzzing sound in your ear again....

I've had to have my wall busted open 3 times already inside one room of my house because they keep making hives in the same wall.

The first time was over 10 years ago before we had a bee shortage. They sprayed inside the wall and killed them all before removing all the hives. The hive was over 8 ft tall and filled up multiple trash bags and each bag was heavy af.

The last 2 times were within the last few years and they vacuum them up and transfer them to buckets and give them to beekeepers. Hearing the sound of thousands of bees in a bucket coming down the hallway of my house was freaking intimidating lol. It was LOUD! Sounded like f1 race cars.

Fascinating creatures, and I'm glad they found a way to remove them without killing them.

37

u/lizardgal10 3d ago

Yeah, bees are cool dudes for the most part. They don’t really WANT to hurt people. I wouldn’t want them in my wall but always good to see thing outside where they belong.

Wasps and cicadas on the other hand? Those fuckers will attack you and try to make it your fault.

5

u/karlurbanite 2d ago

What? Cicadas are the most gentle insects ever.

4

u/MelaninandMelatonin 2d ago

Ain't nothing gentle about those abominations or the terror they bring every decade. Dive bombing open windows, popping you upside the head as they pass, and just straight up screaming obscenities at you for three weeks.

I'm a tree lover till those mf come out. Then I want the forest paved and replaced by artifical Christmas trees.

198

u/Seenshadow01 3d ago

Not loud at all. They have one in the natural history museum in Vienna and I never heard much of a noise coming from that one.

81

u/Groove-Theory 3d ago

Never heard any noise from it either. I'm a continent away but I'm glad it's not loud enough for me to hear over here.

11

u/AngryStappler 3d ago

I was there in January, I didnt see the hive, must have missed it :(.

3

u/Seenshadow01 2d ago edited 2d ago

Its a bit hidden between two windows in some kind of tree looking structure if i am not mistaken. But I believe that during the winter months you wouldnt have seen much anyways as they are more dormant and possibly even covered up by the staff.

Edit: I found more info online and it is only possible to see them during summer.

https://www.nhm-wien.ac.at/en/exhibitions/permanent_exhibitions/first_floor/crustaceans_spiders_insects?utm_source=chatgpt.com

"Honey bees (Apis mellifera) are social insects. A bee colony in early summer consists of a queen and 40,000-80,000 workers, plus several hundred drones (male bees). During the summer there is a living bee colony in hall 24, from which bees fly out daily to the Volksgarten and the Burggarten, the parks next to the museum. Visitors can observe bees flying off and returning."

12

u/Daft00 3d ago

I might be wrong, but Isn't the noise we hear mostly from their wings? Kinda like a car's noise (outside of a Lambo or something) is mostly from the tires contacting the road, but a car at a red light at idle is pretty quiet.

In this case they're just crawling around not using their wings so I'd assume it's mostly quiet.

smoke them out through the tubes, im not sure if killing all of them is legal or not but if it is illegal then you just hire someone to relocate them. once you move the queen the rest will follow im pretty sure. just a bee suit and a box, probably a couple tarps hung up on the walls and floor with duct tape to seal off the living room. this guy probably knows enough about bees to locate the queen so he can probably do it by himself. bee suit might be expensive but this guy looks like he has the money.
