Lifelong cat lover

My last cat was with me 18yrs until he passed from kidney problems. Almost a decade on I finally feel able to get another wee kitten. However I've had 3 horrible failed attempts (I won't bore you with the details) but I finally get to pick up my new wee boy on 19th. I feel like I'm tempting fate but I've named him, my house has more kitten gear than a pet shop and I'm like the proverbial cat on a hot tin roof. I just hope I've not forgotten how to do this! Here he is with his beauty spot and 'tache, so handsome and utterly irresistable!

Part 2 of “First time cat owner, I’m in love 😍”

This is a part 2 of my original post when I asked if I should get my new cat Bella a new friend. And after reading your guys responses, I decided to get her a new friend and picked him up literally the day after (Yesterday)

Bella’s new friend is a male, about 3-4 weeks younger. I just got him yesterday around 6pm and got him home by 7pm.

I’ve read many Reddit posts and also on YouTube on steps on introducing a new kitten to my kitten. It was recommended by many to give them time and space to get accustomed. But I just felt like Bella was a sweetheart and so is the male friend I picked up for her. He’s so cuddly and needy, a lot more than Bella when I first picked her up.

So when I first brought him into the house, I let Bella smell him through the carrier bag, I was thinking of just bringing him straight into my room and keep the separate for a while, but something told me to just let him out the bag and see how they interacted.

When he got out the bag, Bella was for sure excited, watching him from a distance. Then about like 20 minutes later, they started to chase each other. It was Bella first then I thought she was bullying him and I told her to stop. But minutes later, he was chasing her back and they were doing zoomies all over my house, which I loved because this was what I wanted for both of them. Btw, I was supervising everything. And it was for sure they were playing. I saw nothing negative between their interactions.

When it was sleeping time, I took him to my room to sleep. (My room is where I set up his bed and litter) But they both wouldn’t sleep, they just kept smelling each other through the door. So I decided to just go out to the living room and let them tire them selves out. And trust me, they did!! They were doing zoomies from 12:30am to 2am, I couldn’t sleep. But I did fall asleep watching them play with each other just incase. When I woke up, Bella was literally right on my chest and didn’t move the whole night while the new male friend was around my leg sleeping. So far, looking like they’re very fond of each other.

Today morning, I woke up, fed them both. Then couple minutes later they were now wrestling each other. I was very observant and trying to see if it was fighting or playing. I watched a lot of YouTube videos, but they were definitely playing. Just to confirm I sent the video to a couple of my friends that have cats and they were playing. (Posted a clip on this post, lmk what you guys think)

They’ve slowed down now, they just in the living room just kinda staring at each other once in a while but no fights or any aggression yet, I’m blessed and so happy for both of them.

So happy that I could find Bella a friend and they’re actually getting along from day 1. Even though I played with Bella well over 75 minutes everyday, I knew she needed more than just playing with me, I think it’s honestly the perfect fit between these two.

I love them both so much, but I have to say Bella is still my first cat ❤️ but I love them the both, will never put one cat in front of another.

Honestly I have so many better videos of them two interacting but I can’t seem to post videos on this subreddit.

A SINCERE Thank you to everyone from the past post for the advices for me as a first time cat owner, or slave now I could say 😂. And I don’t mind it at all. I really do appreciate everyone’s genuine concern and help ❤️ 🙏

Just happy that Bella found a friend for life.

Kitten breeds?

Okay to start, we asked the agency that we are fostering with about the breeds and they said that these cats could possibly be another mamas, our cat mama was nursing 4 of them and they put 1 orphan with them because the others were healthy. We are fostering a mama and 5 babies for 8 weeks, 4/5 of the babies are the same at 3 weeks and 1/5 is a week older. I am pretty sure mama is a bombay cat, and 4 of the kittens are siamiese or ragdoll and the older kitten maybe a maincoon/tiger type, I am totally guessing here, so any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance everyone! ~Nick

Stella’s Kittens — 4 weeks old!

How time flies! The little buggers are already 4 weeks old! The first pic is Clementine. She looks the most like Momma with her little white feet. There are several pics of the twins, Moe and Butters, the two boys, because some of you were asking for that. The twins have the most white on them and are the biggest. They do not stand still for long, so not the best pics, but I tried. Harriet is the other girl, she is solid orange, no white, and a bit shy so not many pics of her.

Momma shows no signs of weaning them yet but I have the kitten food ready and I’m keeping an eye on her.

FYI: I will not be responding to any questions that are already answered here.

Disclaimer: (1) I did not know she was pregnant when I rescued her; (2) She will be spayed after the babies are weaned; (3) I will be re-homing at least three kitties but not until mid-May; (4) I am located in San Antonio, TX

My girl Duchess (who I snatched from my parents barn 😂), her momma (spotted tabby), and her daddy (floofy orange tux) 😊. Her daddy never use to get close to anyone, but I think he is warming up to me!!

Found these little guys in a box at our drive. Decided to take them in till we can bring them to a vet tomorrow. They are eating and pooping so I'm taking that as a win! Also I've moved the second kitten multiple times but he just loves my arm for whatever reason, probably the heat

Brought this stray in a few months ago to shelter her from the snow, and what do you know she’s pregnant. We were gonna keep her regardless but here’s the additional 4 gremlins she distributed to us as well 😹 It’s weird seeing them going from un-sentient little beans to opening their eyes running around. Every time I peak my head in they all get up and start running towards me now 😭

18 day old kitten not gaining weight, but eating

Post image

Hi yall, so one of the stray cats I've been feeding on my porch gave birth to 5 kittens a little over two weeks ago. (Yes, I'm really bummed that I couldn't get her spayed in time.)

I have multiple cats back at my parents' house, but this is my first time taking care of a mama cat and her babies.

I know I'm supposed to weigh the kittens at least once a day, and it's alarming if they don't gain at least ~7 grams per day.

Today, I noticed that one of the kittens hasn't gained any weight and actually lost a little (from 273g to 271g within about 24 hours). The previous day she gained a lot from 259 gr to 273 gr, so I'm a little shocked. We lost one of the babies in the first week, so I'm really stressed about what to do right now.

It's 2 am here, and throughout the night, I've been isolating her to give her 1:1 time with mama with a warm water bottle next to her. But I'm wondering if it's normal for some kittens to not gain weight consistently? Should I take her to the vet tomorrow? She's so tiny, will it stress her out? Should I bring mama along?

She's still latching and actively nursing, but there hasn't been any weight gain since that 273 gr weigh in. :(

I've waited my whole life to get a kitten

I've wanted a kitten my entire life. I've had adult cats, dogs, rats, and 13 hamsters. I found this little guy at the animal humane society. He's two months old, 1.9 pounds, and his own mom was a kitten who wasn't ready to be a mom (she was adopted as well). I've had him for 3 days. He spends most the day sleeping on my lap and the rest of it terrorizing my keyboard.
