I've been trying to use up my stash, so it's all yarn that I've had for a while. It's all also secondhand. I love the dark green yarn, it's so squishy and nice. There was no label on it when I thrifted it, but the tan is Unger fluffy, though it's been discontinued. The rabbits are from a chart I found on Pinterest, which I would be happy to share if anyone wants it.

I can't believe I've finished it!! This might be controversial but I loved doing the sleeves. The whole project took a month exactly from start to finish, I'm itching to start another one 😅 It was my first time knitting with a silk & mohair fluff plus a yarn together, it makes it so soft & luxurious - it was nowhere near as difficult as I thought it was.

Pattern: Cloud sweater from Petiteknit 🧶: Cascade 220 & Drops silk

I self-designed and knitted this spencer vest with a 4x4 basket weave stitch on a 4mm needle in the round. I used hobbii daily stitch 20%/80% wool/acrylic blend (bordeaux red). It is the second knitted garment I finished. He is really happy with the result!

It took me a year to complete, but here's my Monday Sweater by PetiteKnits. Much was learned along the way, including blocking, raglan increases, and German short rows! I'm delighted by how sophisticated it feels and can't wait to start my next project.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy. I can't believe I actually finished this thing. I got my yarn (well not all of the yarn) in May 2022, and I started sometime that fall. Now here we are, two and a half years later, and it's done!

I learned so much from this sweater, mostly patience. But I also learned that, yes, the dye lots DO matter and that's not a random thing people online tell you to pay attention to. Oh, and I really should've made a proper swatch, the sleeves stretched a little too much.

There are definitely other mistakes, enough that part of me is tempted to undo it, but I think it would break my heart to undo it all. I think I'm going to keep it for the memories!

I've posted here a few times asked for advice and suggestions and have had wonderful help from this community. I've recently passed my "one year knitting" anniversary! Helpful context: it’s a dumpster fire and I’m American.

In designing this I think I may have done the equivalent of reaching around my butt to scratch the opposite elbow? Took a free shutterstock image and layered it over knitting graph paper in Canva. Then hand copied that onto Vogue Knitting colorwork paper with colored pencils to make adjustments. That paper is nice for coloring but very hard to read when knitting.

Things I will do differently if I ever try to design something again: 1. Learn one of the design programs y’all keep mentioning. 2. Shorten the torso and place the graphic much higher. 3. Actually learn to embroider. 4. Actually learn to draw. 5. Not change my mind about how I want something to look after already knitting and then try to fix it with embroidery. In other words make a plan and stick to it I guess. 6. No objects that are supposed to be round (Number 5 plays into the troubles here, but from now on, no circles.)

Still gonna wear it even though one of my students asked why I had a sweater with a grill on it 😐

Finally finished this sweater! It took me over 150 hours not including the time it took me to design it. Can't wait to block and wear it!

I've been knitting and crocheting for as long as I can remember but I have never actually made a piece of clothing other than socks because that's too much commitment to one project for me, but my sister asked me to teach her how to knit so she could make a hat for her friend's baby due soon. So I decided to make something too, and finally made my first cardigan!

I followed this this pattern by KaaburaKnits, but instead of doing buttons for the fastening I just sewed a press stud to the top with a little pink bow on top. Yarn used was Bella Baby Baby Wonder 8 Ply, in Bright Spots.

Made a beautiful beanie for my husband 2 years ago using a $30 hank and frogged it today because he never once wore it. Should’ve taken a before & after photo to share, and will next time. Making a smaller one for me. (That yarn was too good to donate.)

Anyone else ever done this? The reverse satisfaction frogging it is about 50% that of completing it. And I doubt he will notice.

i'm a beginner working on my first project. it's a bucket hat that's also requiring me to learn magic loop as i go. which i wasn't exactly expecting when i decided on this 🥴 sooo i've started over three times because of mistakes or just being confused.

i'm having fun though, even with all the starting over! i'm definitely learning a lot. maybe fourth time will be the charm, but, hey, who knows? it's fine with me even if it isn't :D

i think all of this is actually making me even more excited for the finished product!

My son is 16 and super into clothes these days. He gravitates towards a style that seems 90s inspired. Very baggy, oversized, lots of layers.

I’ve offered to knit him things but he only wants something that fits his aesthetic. He doesn’t want me spending the time on something he won’t wear and honestly, me either lol

Any suggestions? What have you made for teenagers in your life that they really liked? Or if you’re a teenager yourself, what patterns have you found that might lean towards this style?

I started knitting in 2021. I knitted through to 2023, then took about a year break. I picked it back up in 2024 and have continued knitting since and I love it, always have. Back when I first started knitting I was an extremely tight knitter, so when I picked it back up I didn’t think too much about how tight my knitting was. Then I started seeing all these posts about twisted stitches and started noticing it in my work. I usually work in the round so it would only happen when doing things like ribbing and short rows. I ignored it for a bit because I was usually doing plain vanilla stockinette in the round so it wasn’t always super relevant. But then it came time to figure out what was going on. Obviously it was my purls because my knit stitches looked perfect. And when I realized it I wanted to face palm. I’ve always knit continental, and when I picked knitting back up and came to my first purl stitch, I knew my needle needed to go through the front with yarn in front, and I just grabbed the yarn and pulled it through. No wrapping it around. I had to reteach myself how to purl. Now my knitting is extremely loose when I purl and I think I may have to restart these socks.

Tldr: realized I have been purling incorrectly because I forgot how after a year long break and did the first thing I thought was a purl stitch.

I like the idea of knitting sleeves two in one and steeking them before inserting them into the body. I've not done this before as two in one, does anyone have any experience? It's not how the pattern is written, but I like the idea of having both sleeves done at once. A good or bad idea?

I made this appa sweater for my brother! It's my first knitted sweater. I've only knitted a pair of socks before (just finished those too), so I'm still very new to knitting. It's rough looking, but I did duplicate stitch to make appa. I'm really proud of it! I finished a sweater just in time for it to get hot lol. Mind the cat hair.

Are there any knitting books y’all have purchased or have been handed down through family that you absolutely love? Ravelry is great and all but theres something about flipping through a book that’s way more satisfying and personal. I love color-work, wearables, vintage patterns, accessories, and anything off the beaten path, so I’d love to hear any and all suggestions!

I can’t be the only one. 😂 I’m watching House with my partner and during this very sad, poignant scene where a character decides to donate his wife’s heart, another character enters scene left in this, THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BLUE KNIT BLOUSE and I had to let the whole room know. And pause the show to take a picture of it so I can draft a pattern. And make it. And wear it and love it forever. Look at those lace cuffs! Ughhh I can’t.

I am making the Thistleback shawl for my mother in law. It requires color-work & steering. I have done color work before but never steeking. Well I asked here a few weeks ago & was directed me to The Simple Steek Mug Cozy {https://ravel.me/the-simple-steek-mug-cozy} to learn how to steek. I have successfully completed my first steek. I am going to do it again so that I can make sure it wasn't a one time fluke, lol. Photo Heavy! I don't know how to not be photo heavy, lol.

I know I didn't complete the cozy but I have no use for one & just needed the test for steeking.
