Question When should I start drawing on procreate?
So I have been doing good with traditional drawing so far. I’m starting to understand one, two and three point perspective but am I moving too fast because I want to learn how to draw animals, people and learn color Theory?
There are many things I want to learn and study for drawing but I feel I’m pushing myself too hard.

How can I get my shading to look more realistic?
(Censored due to nsfw rule)
Im aiming for a dreamy realism, something like the drawing of prud’hon. I feel like the shading could be a lot more smooth, but I’ve used tissues and q tip to blend and it still feels streaky and off.
Im mainly focused on the body, the background was added in an attempt to make it look more real. Im aware theres some minor proportion issues, but more concerned with the shading at the moment.

Thoughts and suggestions
I know legs and feet are a bit off, I just hadn’t expected to include them. Finished piece is supposed to have some fire or whatever but I’ve been thinking overall design is kind of simple and if there’s anything to make it better. Or general corrections if there’s errors

Question Help starting up in a fun way
Hey all,
So lately i've been trying to explore some hobbies and i've always been into drawings, specially regarding anatomy. I've bought myself some simple supplies (sketchbook and pens) and i've been looking up advice, watching tutorials, I even found books related to comics / superhero to check out how bodies can be drawn.
But here's my problem, everywhere i look i see either "just draw" or "practive drawing squares in every possible angle for hours everyday".
I don't find any enjoyment into drawing shapes or lines over and over. I understand i won't just draw the kind of art I want right at the start obviously but if I can't have fun learning it then what am i supposed to do ?
I can't "just draw" either, i don't know what i'm doing. I really want to learn but I still want to have fun doing so and i'm tired of drawing cubes, triangles, spheres in every viewpoints possible..
Does anyone here have actual advice that wouldn't make the hobby of drawing feel like a job ?

Just Sharing I can finally post here so I'm gonna use this sub as learning/art commitment!
Yo. I'm a avid doodler but I wanted to actually draw something. I find it hard to stay commited to certain things (art shouldn't be a problem, it's fun!), so I'll be posting my updates here. I've already practiced a bit but I still can't do much, so I'll just be focusing on one thing, doing it to my liking, and moving on to the next thing. Hopefully I'll be able to combine everything I learn together to make a piece while referring to the fundamentals any time I get stuck. Hope to look back at this post and smile at how far I've come.
Starting tomorrow: Heads!

Just Sharing DAY12, Taking off the training wheels (1.5hr)
First of all I should introduce my characters: Tom the Stickman, which was adapted from the face my DAY1 post stick figure had, which due to my lack of knowledge at that time laid into more of a comic style face despite I am aiming for more of an anime style.
Katie Headsworth is a new character created today and she will be one of my primary face models from this point. Her face should become more refined as my skill improves.
Today's works:
- Learned the lazy “comma eye” technique.
- Gave birth to Created Katie Headsworth from trying to put a lazy blink inside a practice face outline, thought that it looked proper, so I added nose and mouth and gave her a name.
- Learned the basic facial ratio rules of anime artstyle.
- Attempted to draw faces (Katie to be specific) on blank pages without the help of any tool.
- Adapted Tom the stickman into my current facial construction, with the knowledge that the anime style generally gives male characters sharper features.
- Thought that only practicing Katie was a little bit unfair, so I got distracted once again and tried to make Tom's face more detailed, but failed. He was not really in the same style anyway so I put him aside for now.
- Also redrew the full-body breakdown without a ruler or a compass unlike before. This was the first step to lift the full-body breakdown from grided to blank paper as well.
I shall be entering the preliminary study of eyes tomorrow.
CREDIT - The guidebook I'm currently using is How To Start Drawing Character Illustrations by YURIKO, Market Link. Current progress: Page 26/155 (16%).

No Critique, Just Sharing Learning How to Draw (Week 2)
Keeping my promise of holding myself accountable and posting every week.
Not gonna lie, I was a little busy with other stuff so my drawing time was cut short this week, but I still managed to do at least 15-30 minutes every day.
I know I got a bad habit with the vanishing points in boxes where I do them backwards sometimes so I am working on it. But hey, next week I am going to be drawing 250 boxes, so I'm sure I'll get better at it lol.
Anyways, like always tips and critiques are always welcome. I'll see yall next week!

Critique Feels like something is missing
Really proud of where I am right now just want to get that out of the way first. When I look at this piece (from reference) it seems to miss a some sort of magic element that ties it all together.
I think my hair rendering probably needs work, I think my shading is lacking some sort of particular interest, and it feels like there is some sort of finishing work that is missing to give it some sort of pizazz or something.
Any criticisms and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
