It’s a nice illustration. I wouldn’t say you suck, your insight as to what’s wrong is actually pretty spot on. I feel your struggling because you don’t have a concept. Pick your friends brain more. Look at their business model, ask for their mission statement (if they have one), if nothing else make it about your friends personality. Is your friend energetic, happy, serious? All those traits can be translated to a font, a color, a logo style. The logo is too complex to be a successful logo at the moment, try reducing it down to simple lines. You’re off to a good start.

Friend wants a logo for their new business growing mushrooms. I am no expert (obviously). This is the sort of design they want (emblem, mushrooms, Canadian flag, company name, and "gourmet mushroms"). This is a work in progress.

I am struggling.

  • It feels like too much stuff. It's too busy
  • The mushrooms don't match the clean lines
  • The mushrooms create too many tangents and general weirdness of shape
  • It won't scale well (won't be any smaller than 3" however)
  • I don't know what font to use
  • Client vacillates between rustic and clean design
  • I also just suck

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I have been staring at this for too long and am spinning my wheels.
