I’ve worked a cash register before, I definitely believe someone might do this.
1) Management varies by location. Some people don’t care unless your till is off by a wide margin. A few cents won’t matter.
2) Most people pay with cash or card. And by cash, I mean strictly dollars. The chances of you having to do this frequently throughout the day are slim. So you’re less likely to get caught.
3) You heavily overestimate how much people care about getting fired from a McDonald’s.
Lol, friend is working in mcdonalds for a few years already he gave me so much extra shit for free and he is still working there. So i think you might be wrong
I worked at a big restaurant chain that has sushi, as well as ordinary food. Every day, something comes extra for the orders or simply forgotten to be put in the bags, and if we're not hungry, we pass it to our coworkers. One day recently, the sushi guys were preparing combos to sell in boxes for delivery since we expected heavy demand for deliveries and many orders. There was basically little very little work compared to our expectations, and maybe like 80 combos were extra. I'm talking combos with 3 rolls, each worth ranging from $10 to $20. I took 2 big bags with combos and even begged my coworkers to take more and more because throwing food in the trash is a crime for me. So yeah, a lot of extras are frequently left after work and we just take them
