Rant/Vent Looking for a girl I met in a surf club

Post image
71 Upvotes

Yesterday, On 2 Jan'25 around 4 pm saw a girl playing with a wave board near the reception of a Surf club in Mulki. I liked her vibe complemented her wave board skill. She had a flower šŸŒø of this color on her left ear and a peal bracelet on right hand. Couldn't connect with her more as she was with her friends around all the time. Not sure she was a local or a tourist. She was there with 3 of her female friends for Kayaking.

Hey if you are here seeing this ping me. I you remember me! Trying my luck out! Wish to chat and know you more! šŸ¤žšŸ¼

Rant/Vent I asked chatgpt to roast this subreddit and here is the result

Ah, r/Mangaloreā€”a place where every other post is about either road conditions, Kudla food cravings, or existential dread over Mangalore turning into a second-tier Bangalore. Letā€™s break it down:

Half the posts: "Roads are bad, potholes everywhere, no development!" Yes, because Mangaloreans have mastered the art of complaining online while actively voting for the same people every election.

The other half: "Best place for ghee roast?" The answer has been the same for ten years. But sure, letā€™s debate it for the 500th time while still ending up at Shetty Lunch Home.

Occasional posts: "Iā€™m visiting Mangalore; what should I do?" Bro, go to a beach, eat some neer dosa, and leave. Thereā€™s not much else unless you enjoy existential crises at Empire Mall.

Big city energy? They wish. Half the sub thinks Mangalore is still a sleepy coastal town; the other half thinks itā€™s a rising metro. Reality? Itā€™s a hot, humid paradox where the only thing rising is real estate prices and traffic congestion.

Every Mangalorean outside Mangalore: ā€œI miss Mangalore.ā€ Meanwhile, the ones living there are plotting their escape to Bangalore, Dubai, or Canadaā€”only to come back and complain about how ā€œMangalore isnā€™t like before.ā€

At the end of the day, r/Mangalore is like Mangalore itself: Small, full of nostalgia, but stuck in an endless loop of the same discussions, just like those endless Hampankatta traffic jams.

Rant/Vent Exposing Sharada PU college: one of the worst and self proclaimed overrated college

P.S: This is not a hatepost,it is just my personal experiences which I wish to share. If you are tentie and thinking of joining this college, then you are wasting your 2 years. Honestly, this college will either make you or break you completely with their rules. Pros: Good for extracurricular activites. And for boards Cons: Coaching was honestly bad for me. Jee faculty is trash in 1st year.for neet its one of the worst as the college is jee centric. Special library for 11th toppers from 2nd pu onwards for competitives. ZERO attention on low scorers of coaching. Syllabus was kept pending till the end. they mostly care to message only for fee payment. Faculty is good but mostly show sarcastic attitude. Only 2 event in whole year apart from college day and sports day. if you wish to quit coaching next year, you are alienated by faculties. Coaching students get 0 holidays, even Sundays are not spared for them. Canteen food is trash. Commerce students do have 1 fest though. Tldr: Dont join sharada.

Yesterday on 2 Jan 25, I decided to have a fun day out With my friends at this surf club in mulki, that seemed fun

But there was a guy that ruined all my fun, at first he started to continuously stare and give creepy looks when I was playing with my wave board at the reception.

Then he randomly approached me and started talking i showed no interest but he still continued talking giving compliments that seemed very creepy

Then I continued talking to my friends as an excuse and slowly escaped

I hope to never see him again and I hope he doesn't stalk me šŸ˜«

Just landed in mangalore. Booked an auto. And the minute I entered this guy started arguing about paying him extra than the fare it was shown by Ola. Wasted around 10mins arguing. Luckily I started maps in my phone as well. Found that he was taking us in different direction. Corrected him and then he started his rant again. Horrible experience. Didnā€™t even accept online payment and was forcing to pay him in cash. Are there any safe ways to travel?

Rant/Vent Is this even Legal? Causing Public Nuisance without notification!

Since yesterday evening I've been suddenly experiencing extremely slow internet in Bejai Area. The very nature of the network fluctuations were so so unusual that I got paranoid that my phone is hacked or someone is siphoning off of my internet data somehow.

I ran so many tests, scanned my phone, cleared my data, changed my passwords, and what not. I checked websites to detect server down issues with Jio, Google and other platforms, but all seemed fine and reachable by the detector. I even contacted jio and they ran some online troubleshooting tests and told me everything was normal and sometimes network can slow down like a traffic jam and what not, which I understand, but this was not it. The weird part was the network bars didn't show any indication, but only kept alternating between 5G & 4G ocassionally; and yet when I browse the net, it's taking forever to load, network shows no internet connection in between, and again in between there's perfectly fine internet.

This constant weird pattern scared me as I never experienced this before post jio era. I thought the issue would resolve after midnight as my data resets, but no, the problem still exists. I started getting weird notifications saying 50% data consumed, but I'm having unlimited 5G, and my data usage on Jio app shows 1.9GB/2GB consumed. You can see why I was paranoid even more because I was not able to figure out what's going on.

I even bought a data pack add on for 19 bucks just to see if it would make any difference, but nope! Everything is still slow intermittently. I was looking for potential data leaks and ways to wipe off my data from the internet. Realising how expensive the services were and the lack of availability of competitive providers had me drop the idea. As a last resort, I went in to complain to jio again. This time to Jio care website than Myjio app, and I finally discovered the problem! Some geniuses have stealthily installed network jammers in my area for God knows what and for how long!

Tell me this is not public harassment by causing mental agony and inconvenience! The least they could've done is report the same like they do with power cuts; although that's a different issue altogether to be talked about another day...

Worst part is we still don't know who did this and why, and whether they are authorised to do so, and how many people are affected by it.

When I got to know this, I immediately asked my family members and atleast 2 of them confirmed that they experiencing the same problem. I finally calmed down when I got to know that it's not just me, and it's not a case of hacking. But I'm still stuck with a painful internet connection regardless. The intermittent interruptions mean nothing crucial can be done as of now without worrying about things going sideways! Is this even legal? My question is, why?!

Rant/Vent College bullying

ā€œOur college has introduced a new rule forcing us to shave our mustaches before practical exams, which directly conflicts with our personal beliefs and longstanding traditions. This has never been enforced before, and we feel it is being implemented arbitrarily to bully us. When we raised our concerns, they are not allowing us to write exams ,which we believe is unfair and discriminatory.ā€

Rant/Vent Collectively destroy Taxi mafia

Today I landed at 7 am & due to lack of sleep, I was contemplating taking a taxi to my destination outside Mangalore. But the insane pricing (Rs. 1600+!) put me off!! 30 rupees/km is too much. Is it our responsibility to sponsor their life?

I walked to the pickup point & took a rickshaw to Kulur from where I took a bus to Udupi (250 for auto and 95 for bus)

Iā€™m just too irritated with the taxi mafia at IXE. How can we destroy their monopoly? Even Ola/Uber doesnā€™t help because these cartels cancel if you donā€™t agree for price shown + 200 or donā€™t pay cash.

Itā€™s also our fault because when govt introduces bus, we donā€™t use it.

Rant/Vent Why Fish is so expensive here?

I was just curious to know why fish is so expensive here in Mangaluru. Even a simple mackerel fry or masala costs around ā‚¹100 to ā‚¹120 at local eateries.

I find it surprising because the sea is so closeā€”so transportation costs shouldnā€™t be that high. With such easy access to fresh fish, I expected it to be more affordable.

In fact, in my city, I can get two mackerel fries for the same price I pay for one here in Mangaluru. So, Iā€™m genuinely wondering why itā€™s so expensive in this city.

A couple of weeks ago, a family member was admitted to a hospital in Mangalore. During the discharge process, I went through the bill for investigations, blood tests, and procedures, and the prices seemed excessively high. I got curious and looked up reference prices online, I was shocked. The hospital was charging at least three to four times the market rate for the same tests.

Iā€™m not sure if this qualifies as malpractice or just unprofessional pricing, but the disparity was alarming. I wanted to visit independent labs to verify the prices more accurately, but I didnā€™t have the time. Instead, I checked online to get an idea of the standard market rates.

Rant/Vent Dear MESCOM, F**K YOU!!!!

I'm from surathkal and currently pursuing CA, I have my exams on September and whenever I turn on my PC and start really focusing on studies MESCOM decides "oh is it raining? Let's cut the power, is it a bit windy? Let's cut the power " and these power cuts last 45 mins on average and it's really getting on me nerves. Once or twice is acceptable maybe but power cuts 5-6 times a day!!! How the hell am I supposed to study! I do have an inverter but how long that will last. Just yesterday night there was no power from 11pm - 4 am, (even registered a complaint, they said cable men are busy will check) and the same has happened twice in this month for me. Somebody please tell you relate with me in this

Recently i travelled by Vande Bharath, Mangalore to goa everything seemed to be going great, until.. food that was served was Extremely Horrible, it is not at all edible TO TOP ALL THIS OFF JUST BEFORE THE FINAL STATION, the staff go around forcing people to tip them and pay them, when a couple of boys asked them why should we pay you? Even after paying the ticket fee.. he simply said because im working right? Now give me more money.. its extremely pathetic that these guys are extorting money from people just like that openly.. its extremely shameful. I hope some one takes action on these thugs even after paying such a high ticket price. And these young boys tried to say no thats when this staff leaned and started threatening them thats why they paid

Rant/Vent Got caught by cops (almost)

I'm a med student and I stay in hostel. But 2 weeks ago there was kambala going on. Went there with my friends and got bored after a while. We decided to go someshwara beach(At 1AM) As soon as we reached there cops came. We were sober and I thought they'll let us go easily ( which they did later) at first they accused us of being high on drugs and then asked us our bike documents which none of us had. Luckily they let us go after asking our marks and all the stuff. Crazy experience Lesson learnt. Writing this to warn others to not to go out at night to beaches especiallyšŸ˜šŸ˜ hope mangalore gets a night life soon

Rant/Vent Ramen house mangalore - a bit too oily for our taste.

Post image
52 Upvotes

Hey guys, Iā€™m a big ramen lover and have tried it across different countries, including Japan and Korea. Visited Ramen House in Mangalore yesterday and we tried their ramen . Honestly, it was way too oily ,which kind of ruined the experience for us. It felt like I was having oil instead of broth.

Their sushi, though, was pretty good. I love their umami cheesecake toošŸ¤¤ I think this place has potential if they just fix the ramen a bit.

Anyone else went through the same experience?
