Other how did tigalari script go extinct in this region ?

sooo, we all know that tulu was originally written in tigalari script untill it went extict in early 19th century

but acc to my grandmother (1940 born) this script was still being used to teach havan/homa in temples and she showed me texbooks of that era wuich was written by her grandfather in 1930s, but now theyre no longer being used and has been replaced kannada and malyalam scripts

if tigalari script was still being used in 1930s then how did it go extinct ?

AskMangalore What's the grey stone slab present in most of the temples in Mangalore?

I have seen in many temples, there's a grey slab right next to the temple premises. What's this stone about and what is its significance? Anything particular an outsider should know about these stones/bhoota temples?

The clip I’m referring to https://youtu.be/209fhq3edh4?si=NlUHD3aUTkonlMLp

Right at the place in this video, there’s this beautiful scenery. It’s close to Kulshekar, not far from the city. It’s a massive area filled with greenery and just nature.

But I’ve noticed one thing everytime I’ve gone there - a number of huge trucks that are digging up layers of sand from the hill and transporting it somewhere. I’ve heard it’s apparently being done illegally, or something of that sort. Anybody have any clue?

Cause I seem to have had a rather confusing experience with someone who lives around there and has made a vegetable farm in the area, which he took me around (I’m now doubting that he lied about everything and the farm is just a cover-up for the real activities going on in that area.)

Discussion Importance of Bhoota Kola and Kuladevata

Introduction: Shubhodaya, yellarigu Namaskara. I hail from Karnataka but not from any of the coastal parts. Had joined this sub since I love the vibe of Mangalore, Udupi and adjoining places.

Background of my question: My question is about the importance and necessity of Bhoota Kola. In our Kannada culture and maybe every culture, there is something called as "Kuladevata". Since many months, I am facing some personal problems as a 24 year old faces in his/her life. Many astrologers and elders in my home said that it is due to me not visiting my "Ancestral Deity". Co-incidentally, few days ago I also watched a Youtube video about Bhoota Kola where the guy said that some bad omen takes place if the Bhoota Kola does not happen. Even if there is a lack of monetary resources, you have to do with the amount you have since you will get more.

Question: In the same video, the guy also said that coastal people are very spiritual. So guys, how much importance you all give to the Bhoota Kola event and do you really believe that not visiting "Kuladevata" can lead to creation of obstacles in life?

P.S.: Even in the start of Kantara movie, Deity Panjurli says to the land owner if he can give back the peace and happiness that Deity Panjurli has given to the village and the people of the village.

I request you to respond with honest opinions. Dhanyavaadagalu.

Special Info: Also, I am not a Tulu. I was just trying to note down if there are any similarities between the effects of not visiting "Kuladevata" and not performing "Bhoota Kola". I guess some people are confusing my ethnicity in the comments so had to clear it out haha

Rant/Vent Ramen house mangalore - a bit too oily for our taste.

Post image
78 Upvotes

Hey guys, I’m a big ramen lover and have tried it across different countries, including Japan and Korea. Visited Ramen House in Mangalore yesterday and we tried their ramen . Honestly, it was way too oily ,which kind of ruined the experience for us. It felt like I was having oil instead of broth.

Their sushi, though, was pretty good. I love their umami cheesecake too🤤 I think this place has potential if they just fix the ramen a bit.

Anyone else went through the same experience?

AskMangalore Need help, neighborhood got bacchali problem, don't know what to do.

For years, my area was peaceful. But ever since COVID, things have changed. A big group of guys goon-like behavior started gathering at the ground near my house, supposedly to play cricket. But now, it’s gone way beyond that.

They hang out late into the night, drinking, shouting, fighting, and making the place loud and unsafe. I don’t know any of them. I’m not part of their group or lifestyle, and honestly, I try to mind my own business. But for some reason, they seem to have a problem with me.

Every time I step out of the housewhether it’s to go to work or just for something small they stare at me like they’re looking for a fight. They make mocking comments, always indirectly, like they’re trying to provoke me but still keeping enough deniability to avoid consequences. It’s constant, unsettling, and draining.

They also give creepy looks with passing women and making the space feel unsafe. But since they’re careful not to do anything directly, I don’t have “proof” to file a complaint, and I’m scared they might retaliate if I try.

I’m a simple guy. I don’t cause trouble, I don’t have connections, and I keep to myself. But this situation is affecting my peace.

Has anyone been through something similar? What should I do?

Hi all, Last week when I was driving towards tannirbhavi beach, i saw the place on the tannirbhavi road where there used to be a barge mounted power plant. Currently what's with the place? Its fully grown with weeds. Is the place operational ?As far as I remember, that barge was relocated some years ago.
