I Manufactured plastic (injection molded) specially bowls and cups from a Chinese factory. I gave Dimensions for the shipping boxes, they confirmed them, then they made them smaller by 7 cm to fit more into the container. They stuffed the products inside too small boxes, taped the boxes shut, and squashed and deformed the product. When confronted over this, they take no responsibility. Their response is, We'll allow a one-time low MOQ for you to buy more from us.... What can I do about this?? Is there no recourse?

Found out the president of a contract manufacturing has views I do not align with and I am not willing to disclose the type of views. Some may be okay with it, but due to my background I am not okay with it.

They are offering amazing prices and production times. Has anyone ever dealt with something like this and how did you proceed.

Work at a screen printing facility where we screen print all kinds of stuff.

During the dryer and hotter months, to prevent inks and pigments from drying out quick, we need a water fogger system to provide a small quantity of continuous moisture.

Would it make sense to have a centralized fog generator and use piping for transport fog, or have smaller individual foggers and lower the pipe length?

Does anyone know how many feet can ultrasonic produced water fog travel before water in pipes becomes an issue? Need is for dry fog (aka dry steam) so that inks and other substances get moisture equally over the spread area of the screens.

Production floor is about 500ft x 500 ft.

I am biased towards a centralized system as it needs less fog producers and will be quite cheap, only needing piping. Decentralized system means multiple foggers and increased costs too.

Wondering if anyone has experience trying to eke more life out of wood thermoforming molds. Considering encapsulating in epoxy. Mahogany molds are cheap as heck compared to aluminum ones, but are only good for runs of about 25 parts. If I can figure a way to make them last bit longer it will make the thermoforming process a lot more accessible to folks with short run jobs. Appreciate the advice.

Our manufacturing plant produce special hardware and we have a lot of medium sized robotic cells that mostly pick and place items. They are completely blind and sometimes we either need to reprogram (which takes a lot of time) or stop the production if arm misses the item due to being blind.

Do you have similar problems? If so, how are you coping with it?

I have been tasked with analysing a fictional company that produces cars. Each car has a number of batteries which in turn have a number of removable and replaceable modules that are used to make up the battery. These modules are delivered to the car company in batches. The supplier of modules might issue recalls for certain batches due to errors on their part. During production at the car company, the normal flow works so that each car only has modules from one specific batch i.e no mixing. In this fictional scenario, the car needs complete batteries to function. Company does not make batteries to stock.

During production or during normal use, these modules might break and need a replacement. If a battery has 5 modules and 1 break, the faulty one can be replaced.

My question would be the implications of replacing the fifth module with that from a different batch, thus having 4 modules from batch A and 1 module from batch B. If I am not completely misstaken, I imagine these potential scenarios for recalls:

• The car company does strictly not mix batches, meaning that if a module breaks for a car and there are no more modules from that batch, the entire car is rendered obsolete. Modules are either scrapped, sent for repurposing or put in inventory for later use. For a recall, all of the modules in the car would thus be recalled.
• The car company mix batches for repair, meaning that a car could have modules from A and B (or even more). If a recall happens for batch B, all cars that have modules from A and B or only B will be recalled. Depending on the mixing, a lot of cars containing both A and B could be recalled thus basically recalling A in vain.
  • To handle a recall of B in cars containing both A and B, I see these possible scenarios:
    • The faulty B's are replaced with modules from batch C. Functioning A's remain in the car
    • All of the modules are replaced with modules from batch C, making it coherent. Functioning A's are either placed in storage for later use, sent for repurposing (e.g energy storage) or scrapped.

Unless I am completely missing something, is the choice somewhat binary between:

a) Having no batch mixing thus risking obsolete cars during production or aftermarket repair and scrapping functioning modules or risk having obsolete inventory when the car is replaced. Should a recall happen, this is relatively cut and dry as 100% of the modules in a car are replaced.

b) Having batch mixing thus being able to produce functioning cars during production or aftermarket repair with minimal module waste. Should a recall happen for modules, this will be more complicated and costly compared to no mixing.

I welcome any critique of the above and any aspect I might have missed.

Another solution I'm offering my clients is a mobile app through which workers can report any problems with a particular device. I am / have been looking for a manufacturing barcode scanning software that is highly customizable for a large scale factory that will eventually have 3000+ employees.

I need the product to be able to scan parts with barcodes whenever they are about to be installed into our machinery, and then once it fails and replaced it can be scanned again, basically in a way to do low effort time study to help maintenance plan part replacements.

In parallel while these parts are in the machine I need the software to communicate with our already in place MES to note the amount of product that cycled through or total runtime of the machine, so there is an extra layer of detail on when /how specific parts fail.

Also if possible, if CAD drawings could be added to the software noting locations of parts in the machine that would be great. Does such a software exist? Thank you all

On fiverr i see so called "experts" in formulation chemistry doing a formulation and even sourcing for around 100$ and on kolabtree the lowest price that was bid on the project (wich i described same as the bloke on reddit did) was 1250$.

My Question is: is the kolabtree expert any better than the average Fiverr bloke or should i stick to fiverr experts? Or is there another site that you would recommend to hire experts?

I want to manufacture a small (it should fit in your hand) mirror encased in leather + a leather doll keychain and I'm considering working with a relatively well-known, American manufacturer to produce this. I received a quote from them for two samples and I'm not sure if I'm being ripped off. Outside of the two samples I would ultimately produce through them, I would be getting infinite iterations of a paper dummy until it's just right.

Below is what I would be getting for each sample:

Hi Everyone, My company is about to have a meeting to sit down and talk about where we want to head with developing a SCADA and MES system. Currently we have some WonderWare and some home grown applications doing both. We want to see what some integrators and other engineers/Technicians have to say about a lot of these SCADA and MES systems. We don't want to go with our home grown application anymore and want to seek which directions would be the best bang for our buck. Some background information, We currently have about 15 buildings on site and about 5 more buildings in other states. about 98% of our PLC's are Rockwell ranging from PLC 5's to the newest compact logixs and control logix. But we have been brining in some siemens PLC's. We were looking into ignition for its cheaper costs to run compared to WonderWare but we want to hear from everyone on their Pro's and Cons of the different systems that you guys use to help us base out where we want to go.
