How do i stop my jeans from fraying? while still keeping the deconstructed look

Bought a pair of bootcut jeans that were hemmed. I undid the hem and now they are my desired length. I kind of like the frayed look but don't what to sacrifice any centimeters of length due to fraying/ unraveling. Is it just as simple as doing a zigzag stitch at the leg opening or is it more complicated?

Help! Broken magnetic snap

Is there any way to fix this magnetic snap without having to rip out the lining? Does anyone even sell just the metal disc that sits on top so I can just glue it back on? I've only had this bag for 8 months and really shouldn't need to be mending something I've spent good money on. šŸ˜

Does this technique actually work?

Saw this technique on Pinterest and was wondering if anyone had tried it. It looks a little easier than traditional cross-hatch style darning, and I have a merino tee with a few circular holes in the sleeves. But would the thread be anchored firmly enough in the fabric? Open to any advice :)

How to mend this spot in jeans

I've recently noticed this spot where my jeans are broken, it seems like the horizontal threads have broken somehow. What's the best way to fix it? I don't mind if it's visible. These photos were a few weeks ago and it has gotten slightly bigger now.

How to fix my jeans ripped from cycling?

Post image

I tore my jeans on my bike gear on my way to work this morning. I donā€™t have a sewing machine, but I picked up a travel sewing kit and a denim patch thatā€™s a close enough match, whatā€™s the best sewing technique to repair this with those tools while keeping it as invisible and sturdy as possible? These jeans are less than a year old (šŸ„²) so I really want to fix them but visible mending doesnā€™t really match my style.

Is it possible to fix this?

I've done some mending of my clothes with patching jeans and stuff but I've never earned or mended a sock. Completely new territory for me. Is it possible to fix this--it isn't a hole but a completely thinned out, threadbare spot?

Is there any way to fix these holes in my leather jacket?

I have no idea how these even got there, my guess is that something punctured it(?). The only solution I can think of is to slap a patch on it, but Iā€™m wondering if thereā€™s any other way to mend it? Couldnā€™t find a tag on it with the materials/info, but Iā€™m guessing itā€™s not real leather.

My daughter got this little gecko that filled with sand. The bottom is a satin material. When I started to mend it, it seemed like some of the points where the needle entered might be making new holes. These were the best photos I could get. How can I stop the hole from getting larger and still fix it?

Why is this happening?

So Iā€™m trying to fix this giant rip in these pants, and no matter what way I do it I end up with more fabric on one side than the other. So if I were to fully close the seam there would be a big flap of excess fabric. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?

Help - Failed Viscose Repair

Thumbnail

I recently splurged on a pair of expensive (for me) pajamas that are made of 100% viscose. My cat scratched them and made two slits in the fabric. My sister tried mending them using thread and a thin piece of cotton t-shirt material as a backing. Unfortunately, the material is so delicate that when she was examining her work and put gentle tension on the fabric, it immediately ripped again next to the repair. I've been afraid to wear them or try another method of repair. I don't mind visible mending, I just don't want them to fall apart. Does anyone have any recommendations?

How would you mend the holes in this weighted blanket?

My very well-loved weighted blanket has little holes like these popping up all over. I'd like to prolong its life as much as I can.

How would you handle this? Any specific techniques/stitches?

The material feels like felt. The bottom of the coat got caught under a wheel and dragged on the sidewalk for a second. It looks like it's pulled or matted. Does anyone know how to fix this? The picture looks minor but it's noticeable irl.

Need advice on how to fix

Post image

These are my fav jeans so the lower butt area has gotten really thin to the point that I donā€™t think it can hold stitches in this high stress area (material is not actual denim). There was a small hole before that I stitched up, which turned into this giant hole after 3 wears. Iā€™m not sure what to do. The hole sits right under my buttcheek so a repair wouldnā€™t be super noticeable unless I were to bend over. Theyā€™re too form fitting to call baggy but they still have some extra room.

I was thinking I could maybe do a big iron-on patch that covers the entire inside of the lower butt area and a bit down the leg to try to give some strength back to the fabric? And then stitching.

Nylon Work Pants, advice wanted

This is a tear in the crotch portion of the pants, clearly across a seam but also over a different seam (perpendicular). Due to it's location, it also needs to be very flexible. I'm relatively new to mending my own things and I have tried to mend it a couple of times already. I'm looking for advice on specific stitching methods or if I should obtain an extra piece of cloth and patch it?

The pocket of my denim jacket, I had it whipped closed but a mishap with a door caused it to become larger. Would a patch be my best bet or what?

Gym leggings advice please

Post image
2 Upvotes

My gym leggings are coming apart at one seam, and Iā€™d like to mend them as they have plenty of wear on them yet - given that itā€™s stretch fabric and I donā€™t want any stitches to rip with it being stretched when worn, I wondered whether there are any particular stitches and/or thread suited for this? I wonā€™t be able to use a machine so am looking for a hand stitch recommendation, please.

Any other wisdom in regards to re-attaching underwear elastic coming away from the pants themselves would be marvellous (though I expect this will be a similar solution to my above conundrum)!

Thank you ā˜ŗļø
