Overdone One of my neighbours continues to overhang his car into my parking bay.
I wrote him a note as I'm sick of it.
It forces me over in to my next door neighbours bay, which I literally cannot stand doing.
You enter from south west (8 on a clock) of the first photo, which you can see better in the third photo.
Would literally have to swing the car in a backwards C shape to get it positioned like that.
And the worst thing about it is. He can't even get it in his bay when he's the only car there!
Anyone else had similar with neighbours? It's driving me mad.
For reference to, this was instantly after I saw it this morning too. I angrily pulled up to take a photo and write a note. I straightened up the van after, like my car in the third photo.
If this doesn't work, what else?

Time to repay the favor and see if it annoys him

u/ND_Cooke 9d ago
But it would annoy me that I haven't parked correctly, probably more than it would annoy him too š

Once a week. Car the other six. As I've said multiple times to you donuts that type before read.

u/Revolutionary_Laugh 9d ago
He's probably sick of your van hanging out three foot into the road.
-22
u/ND_Cooke 9d ago
Mate, I work nights. I come home to the car there more than you may think, trust me. It's there one day a week too, which is today. The car is there the other six. You could have simply asked 'do you reckon your van annoys him?' instead of thinking you know already.

u/Boston_Glass 9d ago
Your van still doesnāt fit in your spot regardless of whatever excuses youāre using to justify it.

u/wwwhatisgoingon 9d ago
Depending on the road layout, you're parked entirely across the pavement -- which is at least equally inconsiderate.
This looks to be private car park, so whether that counts as pavement or not depends on how they've designated the area.

You got it wrong. You need to get closer to HIS bay so he canāt get into his car. I would literally be inches from his car, but still inside your bay. Heāll get the point when heās entering his car from the passenger side.

u/Peterd1900 9d ago edited 9d ago
If OP parked the Van like you described
OP would have to get out of the passenger side while the driver of the car could can just get in the drivers side
Its the UK meaning vehicles are Right Hand Drive
If OP wanted to park to block the neighbours drivers door they would have to park in a bay on the right which might be someone elses bay.
Unless the silver car reverse parks your idea wouldnt work

u/ManMango 9d ago
I've also parked very close to a car before that was parked like a nobber, if I hadn't, my wife wouldn't have been able to get out of the passenger side. I had to climb through.
When I came back, the bay next to me was empty, and my car had been keyed all the way down the drivers side...

So you are complaining about a car that is parked 10 cm over that white line while your own van clearly doesn't fit this parking space and is parked by at least 10 times as much outside the white line on the back?
I would tone it down with the aggressiveness when parking something that doesn't fit the parking space yourself.

u/ND_Cooke 9d ago

u/X_Maarten 9d ago
So the white line in front of your rear tires is just for decoration?
-3
u/ND_Cooke 9d ago
My van is in the bay, inside both lines, using part of the ramp/kerb that is still part of the car park to fit it in. Not on the road, or in anyone's way for the entry point to their own bay.
11
u/HungrySign4222 9d ago
It looks more like a walkway where the line is. I think youāre overhanging onto a walkway which is why the white line divides it.
7
u/DigginLifeSince94 8d ago
As someone else said, those marks are decorative unless someone else is taking 5cm of your spot
4
u/HungrySign4222 8d ago
OP is hanging out past the end of their parking space. The vehicle is too long for that space. Their neighbor is infuriating but so is OP for not making sure they have a proper parking spot thatās suitable for the size of their vehicle to begin with.

I think they're referring to the other photo, the first one you posted. Theres a line near the rear tires there running perpendicular to the parking spot. The van seems to overhang THAT line a fair bit, which folks are speculating is considered too big for the space (regardless of whether you fit between the two parallel lines).

I would park close to his door so he has to squeeze in or go in through the passenger door
3
u/Peterd1900 8d ago
in the picture we see the drivers side of the van and the passenger side of the car
it is the UK so Right Hand Drive
Preventing the car from opening his passenger is not going to acheive much. if OP was to move the van to the right to block the drivers door OP would just be parking in another resident bay

Next time you need to leave note, you should probably type it because that handwriting is erratic. Combined with the exclamation point, you probably scared them.

u/Pengiiin 8d ago
idk why everyone hates you for parking your van correctly lol. i dont see any issue with the way you parked.
people here seem like the type of people who would park their cars the way your neighbor did... idk what their problem with your parking is, i dont see any.

u/ND_Cooke 8d ago
I've given up defending myself. I was actually asking for advice and willing to explain as seen. Comments and in my post.
People just saw the first picture and the title and presumed everything they needed to know instantly. It's told me to be more descriptive in post titles than body text for next time anyway.

u/LokiKamiSama 9d ago
Wait till he parks, go out and remark, getting as close as possible. More points if you can angle your vehicle so itās simultaneously super close and angled so heās wedged in. ( \ | ) <ā like that. Then he has to do lots of maneuvers to get out and not hit your vehicle.
3
u/ND_Cooke 9d ago
Interesting. I never thought about something like that. Only concern is annoying other car park users. I could do that with the car, not so sure a van would please the others and it's not fair to annoy them.
7
u/Independent-Oven-919 9d ago
Do that, and he will definitely hit your car.
Do you think someone who can't park their car between two lines will be able to get out of this situation without hitting anything?

Next time you park and his car isn't there, overhang into his a little. One good turn deserves another.

Have you tried maybe, I don't know, a face to face chat. People tend to be less dickish when actually confronted about their behavior. Hey there neighbor, I see you are having trouble parking properly, is there a medical health thing going on preverting you from parking properly or are you just being lazy and inconsiderate?

u/SadAbroad4 9d ago
Next time you pull in angle yourself the same and park 2 or three inches from the door
1
u/Peterd1900 9d ago
What would that acheive. if OP forward parks and does that OP would have to climb out of the passenger side of the van. it would affect the car driver in no way whatsoever. all op would be doing would be making harder for himself to get out
Take the picture we see the drivers side of the van and the passenger side of the car.

Well, give them a beNefit of doubt. May be they canāt see where the lines because they are a new driver. May be put up a stick with reflective tape to show where the line is?

Problem that could be solved with a normal 121 chat...... go out there at the same time.. and saying "oh hi Greg, how's it going".. or whatever his name is.... Then a pause to get in your van.. "oh, yeah, I notice you aways hang over the bay, this van is a massive boat to squeeze in, I don't want the wind to catch my door or something and it swings out and dings you by accident.. you ok swinging her in more precise".. "cheers"..

Write a nasty note about staying in his or her lane. If it continues have it towed at their expense.

only the police, DVLA and local authorities can clamp, block or tow your vehicle.
OP himself cant have it towed at the nieighbours expense
If the land is private property those organisations are not going to come around and tow a vehicle

i said
You cant get vehicles towed in the UK.
I did not say vehicles cannot be towed in the UK full stop
The vehicle here is not blocking their driveway
You could come and find a vehicle fully parked on your driveway and you cant get it towed. Police wont tow a vehicle in that circumstance either because its trespass and not a police matter.

You cant get vehcile towed is not the same as vehicles cant be towed at all
Vehciles can be towed but you cant get them towed or have them nor can you have them towed at the owners expense
The police can tow but the police are not you

i never said a false statement
You cant get vehicles towed
You as in yourself can not get vehicles towed
You are not the police.
If vehicles cant be towed at all. I would have said "vehicles cant be towed"

I had 'LEARN HOW TO PARK' on it but ripped it off, didnt want to come across aggressive first time. I thought I'd go easy first note, second note maybe not. A third time I'm knocking on the door I think but I wanna hear if anyone else has had something like this and how they resolved it. Because I'm likely to shout at him if I have to knock I'm going to be honest.

Reverse the van in when their car is not there, so the tyres are almost touching the paint marks.
