This is what I am thinking. It could be for fire protection and the code is written there so she could call someone and they could still get whatever is in that safe out of the house in an emergency.

Yeah but that doesn't make sense either, they could just grab the safe and leave with it, why give the code?

Sure, but if you're saving something from fire, you're gonna waste a bunch of time opening a safe
