Anybody Else Tired of Co-workers Boosting Your Ego, Just To Do Less Work?
I feel like I (m33) work hard [Part time/Healthcare (Porter)] whenever I come in for a shift. I get things done well and efficient, and always try to be positive.
I appreciate that my coworkers understand that and give me Kudos when it’s deserved (as I do for them); but one thing that drives me nuts is when they use it do less work. Or if they’re a lazy worker, a way to make you feel good about them being shitty at their job lol.
They will literally come up and say, “wow, you take the calls so fast, how are we supposed to keep up?”
Meanwhile after the second call in a row I’ve taken (4 other people also on with me), I will leave the next call and watch it sit there for several mins and nobody will take it. They expect me to do it.
I know there are several things I could probably do about it, but that’s not the point. I work and do my job and just because I’m efficient means I should be punished? Haha.
Don’t need any help with it, just wondering if others deal with this constantly but some short solutions other than “just stop doing their job for them” or “report it to your supervisors”.
I like these people lol. I just don’t like the ego boosting to make themselves feel better about doing less work.
Thank for listening to my rant. Just finished a night shift. Bed time zzzz.
