Could be! At first I thought maybe it tasted better than red or white, but I couldn’t tell a difference when I tried

Everyone knows purple is best flavor.

36

u/MyLlamasAccount 1d ago

Blue has the most anti-oxygens

6

u/Official_SkyH1gh 1d ago

This gave me flashbacks to this song

4

u/Kodlak 1d ago

This made my brain itch the bad way

u/ShnackWrap 1d ago

Blue has the most anti oxygens.

Reminds me of the old joke, why do dogs lick their balls? Because their delicious.

4

u/SuperheropugReal 1d ago

Did you taste a new one? It may have lost the flavoring.

0

u/trailrun1980 1d ago

This is the best next step in the process, thank you for your service

39

u/ubiquitous-joe 1d ago

FOR SCIENCE, KAREN

8

u/Hamshamus 1d ago

Look at the ball, the ball is amazing

Give it a lick, the green parts are tasty

143

u/DraconRegina 2d ago

Fuckin legend. r/eatityoucoward champion right here

14

u/randtke 1d ago

Tried it after the dog had licked all over like crazy. Tried it in order to better understand what the dog was after.

39

u/markom457 2d ago

Did it taste green?

43

u/neveroddoreven- 1d ago

Very verde

12

u/Shoelesshobos 1d ago

I assume it’s like MnMs and everyone has one they dislike.

10

u/hellosabiee 1d ago

Im dying at this train of thoughts. Please continue

Hypothesis, experimentation, and conclusion. The scientific method at work.

7

u/Mordercalynn 1d ago

My kind of people.

4

u/DxNill 1d ago

Totally reasonable, I ate a tissue to see what my dog found so amazing about them. 6/10 too dry, smells nice and kinda bland.

6

u/neveroddoreven- 1d ago

Didn’t dissolve like cotton candy in your mouth huh? That’s a bummer, thanks for reporting back 🫡

1

u/HollyBee159 20h ago

If it’s dirty tissues, I think it’s more about the deposits on the tissues

She looks so chuffed with herself for achieving that goal!

464

u/neveroddoreven- 2d ago

Very chuff, the ball popping and hissing some air out surprised her though. Game over

63

u/carrieberry 1d ago

According to my dog popped balls are the best balls

54

u/HanDavo 1d ago

Yeah, easier to get a good grip on and shake it like they're breaking the back of a rat.

3

u/bornatra 1d ago

The face of pure satisfaction after a job well done!

1

u/SenselessTV 9h ago

I hate that i know where chuffed comes from...

72

u/-hesh- 1d ago

green means go ahead and chew

694

u/iTsaMe1up 1d ago

Dogs can't see the color red. To a dog, the colorful fun part of the ball is the green.

283

u/virgildastardly 1d ago

Fun fact it's likely dogs perceive green as an off yellow color!! And they see blue and yellow fairly well too!!! 😎

114

u/Sothisismylifehuh 1d ago

That's why dogs love the cartoon Bluey

93

u/chanciehome 1d ago

My adorable husband who knows dogs can see blue and yellow genuinely thought Bluey was a show for dogs. Like, excitedly exclaimed "have you seen the show for dogs!?" Lol not the first time I've had to reel him back.

53

u/AlarminglyPassive 1d ago

Awwww, you have a golden retriever husband!

19

u/chanciehome 1d ago

Lol, tbh, I've never heard a more apt description.  😅

7

u/Bumbling_Autie 1d ago

I’ve heard that they did intentionally choose the colour scheme to be appealing to dogs so he’s not that far off! XD

10

u/SirGothamHatt 1d ago

This is the 2nd time today I've heard this. One of my students brought it up earlier.

Bluey really is perfect for everyone

4

u/SnooTangerines3448 1d ago

And mashed potato!

4

u/Individual_Dog_6121 1d ago

Oh my god everything makes sense

1

u/FishDawgX 1d ago

I also see green as yellow. And yellow as green. I have red and blue swapped as well.

7

u/skinneyd 1d ago

H-...How do you know?

Or was that the joke lol

7

u/Mobius_Peverell 1d ago

They absolutely can see red. They are dichromats, with their long-wavelength cones covering the wavelengths that humans see as red and green. So they would see the red and green patches as being very similar in hue, though perhaps different in saturation or value.

2

u/marywiththecherry 19h ago

I thought this! And the post really threw me off because the pup chewed the green not the red. V interesting.

-7

u/ripSammy101 1d ago

no, they are red green color blind so they can’t see green as well

27

u/FiftyShadesOfGregg 1d ago

No the original person is right (or more right). The red would be like a murky brownish yellow to a dog, where the green would be a brighter yellow.

-5

u/ripSammy101 1d ago

How so? My response may have been a bit crude but I more or less understand colorblindness. And to me it sounds as if the person I replied to is implying that dogs can perceive the color green but not the color red.

Also, I think you are wrong. If you look in the photo, the bright green is not the original color of the ball, but the color beneath the “skin” that the dog ripped off. You can still see remnants of the original green, which appears darker than the red. So wouldn’t the darker green be less bright and appealing? Of course this is only considering value. Hue would play a role as well but I can’t really tell how that would affect the “murkiness.” Best to put it through a colorblind filter I guess but I don’t know those are really accurate.

16

u/FiftyShadesOfGregg 1d ago

Human color blindness is not the same as how dogs see. Here is a good visual! https://www.urbanpethospital.com/blog/post/dogs-colorblind

9

u/Lacholaweda 1d ago

Basically for dogs, if it's not blue, it's yellow.

-14

u/NotAFanOfLife 1d ago

No you’re wrong, because I can type “no actually” on the internet too. No context needed, get it right next time dumbass.

106

u/Azukaos 2d ago

My dog was also doing this with some of his toys, only chewing and biting specific parts of them.

RIP my big goofy dog.

19

u/pusherlovegirl4215 1d ago

She’s such a cutie. 🥰

12

u/chooselosin 1d ago

Red=too spicy 🌶

29

u/Megsann1117 1d ago

She is very proud of herself

44

u/neveroddoreven- 2d ago

No love for red or white

6

u/Kyrox6 1d ago

Dogs still see color, just not as many colors as humans.

My previous dog would chew the red out of holiday carpets and ornaments.

Edit: holy shit yall it was a joke lmao

10

u/grengrad 2d ago

What a cutie!

8

u/Away-Elephant-4323 2d ago

And she’s proud of it too! Haha!

3

u/keen-peach 1d ago

I’m right there with him. Fuck red dye 40, man. Grocery store birthday cake-ruining poison.

3

u/MoonageDayscream 1d ago

It probably a different level or type of plasticizer that keeps the plastic from becoming brittle. Like antifreeze, it tastes good but is not good to ingest.

3

u/QuirrelsTurban 1d ago

Looking at the ball and I'm like....those patches are green and they haven't been touched....

Then I read comments where someone mentions the left over red and white patches....being color blind is fun.

3

u/pleonhart 1d ago

She's just being healthy and eating her greens

3

u/Dwashelle 1d ago

I'm thinking maybe it's easier for the dog to see the green colour.

3

u/Realmofthehappygod 1d ago

Well green must taste the best.

6

u/Jemmayzz 1d ago

Everyone seems focused on the color but it looks like the green sections are made of a different material that's likely easier to grip with her teeth.

5

u/Frankenkittie 1d ago

No, that's the underneath part after she chewed the shiny coating off.

4

u/astarions_catamite 1d ago

So he likes green. Take him to a dispensary 🤣

6

u/neveroddoreven- 1d ago

We twistin one up for the walk rn

2

u/astarions_catamite 1d ago

Hell yeah! I live in a legal state and my dispo is dog friendly so we always go together. He LOVES the smell. So much so that whenever I pack or spark up he associates it with comfort and happiness and “OMG FRIENDLY PEOPLE WHO GIVE ME ALL THE ATTENTION” (In his mind I’m guessing lol) and sits RIGHT next to me so he can enjoy the smell.

1

u/neveroddoreven- 23h ago

Ha! That is awesome. I’m in FL so no rec dispensary’s here yet. She gets pretty excited when she sees or hears me messing with the grinder cause she knows we’re about to go outside to play

2

u/belleoftheboil 1d ago

Greens is noms

2

u/madstain 1d ago

Good dog

2

u/Vickinning 1d ago

She’s a vegetarian

2

u/amberfamlitness 1d ago

Border collie and/or Aussie? My Aussie will always pull off the eyes of every stuffy she gets. Quite meticulously too. Whether they’re sewn in or buttons, she gets to work removing the eyes first

1

u/neveroddoreven- 1d ago

Aussie, she likes to go for the squeakers instantly then carries the squeaker less toys around for a few more weeks

2

u/normalhuman28395919 1d ago

No the red or the white ones because it represents SILKSONG!!!!!!

2

u/irteris 1d ago

"Tastes like mint"

2

u/riverseeker13 1d ago

And she’ll do it again

2

u/MamaDog4812 1d ago

I'd wager it's more of a texture interest than a color prejudice.

2

u/P100KateEventually 1d ago

I’m going to need you to taste them and see if that color tastes the best

3

u/neveroddoreven- 1d ago

I couldn’t tell a difference, naturally one of the first things I did when I realized what was happening

2

u/P100KateEventually 1d ago

You are an incredible person 😂😂😂

2

u/SokkaHaikuBot 1d ago

Sokka-Haiku by P100KateEventually:

I’m going to need

You to taste them and see if

That color tastes the best

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

2

u/ThroatSecretary 1d ago

What a sweet face 😍

2

u/Bloom_Cipher_888 1d ago

All my dogs have always preferred green toys, and one liked red ones

2

u/pilzburydoughboi 1d ago

she’s a good girl

3

u/TotallyNotABot_42069 1d ago

border collie? she has a reason, but we silly humans wouldn't understand it.

2

u/owo1215 1d ago

the green tasted the best

-your dog, probably

4

u/Boring-Rub-3570 2d ago

Probably wants some grass.

2

u/Ksh_667 1d ago

She looks very proud of herself, I wouldn't be able to resist rewarding her however odd her behaviour lol 🤣🤣

3

u/Raethule 1d ago

Why is the soccer ball a metroid?

1

u/bitchy-sprite 1d ago

I had a dog that only played with orange toys. For years I tried all kinds of toys and the answer was the color was wrong?? Apparently??

1

u/Signal-Fan7335 1d ago

My cat has these little toy balls red and green. He will only play with the green ones

1

u/albearth- 1d ago

A true polish hound

1

u/Due-Currency-3193 1d ago

Obviously a staunch Man U fan.

1

u/Midnight_Starrynight 1d ago

They're the yummiest!

1

u/Hex_MyDadBeatMe 1d ago

For some reason.

Calling it a soccer ball makes the dog cuter.

1

u/frisbee-merchant 1d ago

Literally the opposite of seeing red

1

u/dabarak 1d ago

Rock star dressing room antics.

1

u/curlycatsockthing 1d ago

she is so adorable ahhh

1

u/Meowimak10 1d ago

I'm just here to say your girl is gorgeous, thank you for sharing this photo. I lost my Aussie in 22' and seeing your girls paws gave me this overwhelming sense of comfort. It was nice reminder scrolling through Reddit at 12am.

She looks quite proud of her accomplishment 🥹

u/Subject_Use2774 1d ago

Colorblindness?

1

u/Traditional_Ebb_1379 1d ago

he's tryna incorporate more greens into his diet

1

u/TiltBrush 1d ago

what dog breed ?

1

u/neveroddoreven- 1d ago

Australian shepherd

1

u/Due-Ad4824 1d ago

She’s so proud 😭😭😭😭

1

u/xxwerdxx 1d ago

Dogs can only see shades of yellow and blue so maybe they chewed the green cuz hats the color they could see?

1

u/Historical-Edge-9332 1d ago

Border Collies are weirdos. But they’re a wonderful breed.

1

u/Blazikinahat 1d ago

Sounds about right.

1

u/Rcj1221 1d ago

I her defense, she thought it was red.

1

u/Arborerivus 20h ago

Dogs can't see red (they probably appear greyish), so the green spots probably look more interesting.

2

u/MysteriousFlight1174 7h ago

They can see green better than red, I wonder if that’s it? They can see blue and yellow well though, maybe try a blue one next and see what happens lol

1

u/leadwind 5h ago

Different taste of the red white and green.

2

u/Astro_Akiyo 2d ago

Can’t dogs only see green and blue?

9

u/neveroddoreven- 2d ago

Greys blues and yellows

6

u/Lexloner 1d ago

So the green is far more interesting color to her than the red and white

1

u/Basic-Jelly-2351 2d ago

He knows something...

0

u/Ashamed_Grapefruit 1d ago

Everyone knows green apple and lime are the best flavors! /s

0

u/allotta_phalanges 1d ago

Red looks like pink to dogs. Maybe they really like to look at pink.

0

u/dejanvu 1d ago

Anti white behaviour smh /s

0

u/Takardo 1d ago

your dog is autistic
