That first robot's voice is Tudyk, isn't it?

Robot? Animal? Weird non-human entity?

80% chance it's Alan Tudyk.

Please do not resist.

Congratulations, you're being rescued!

u/TooMuchPowerful 2d ago

No, he just glazed me.

u/Pokemon_Name_Rater 2d ago

Or Doug Jones voiced by Alan Tudyk

9

u/Ashen_Shroom 2d ago

Nah, not moist and slick enough to be Doug Jones.

35

u/RogueTaco 2d ago

Nah all animals are Dee Bradley Baker

7

u/lanceturley 2d ago

Only because Frank Welker decided to stop hogging all the fun.

2

u/Mudders_Milk_Man 2d ago

Not quite.

Tudyk has voiced animal characters like Heihei from Moana.

1

u/jsteph67 1d ago

The chicken lived.

9

u/joesen_one 2d ago

Reminds me of the Creature Commandos press where Alan Tudyk talks about voicing Clayface in both Harley Quinn and Commandos. He then starts talking in the Harley Quinn Clayface voice and Frank Grillo is just in awe the whole time lol

u/Halo6819 2d ago

Alan Tudyk after squawking into a microphone for a few hours:

"I went to Julliard for this..."

3

u/Olobnion 2d ago

I wonder what young Alan Tudyk would have thought about being typecast as a "weird non-human entity".

3

u/976chip 2d ago

He went to Julliard

3

u/DreamcastJunkie 2d ago

The handoff between Frank Welker getting all of these roles and Alan Tudyk getting all of these roles was so seamless.

2

u/OGMcSwaggerdick 2d ago

When in doubt, it’s Steve The Pirate.

2

u/JoeyMcClane 2d ago

Rumour has it Alan Tudyk is gonna be voicing a recorded message as Martha Wayne for this universe's Batman.

3

u/SteakandTrach 2d ago

80% of the time, It works 100% of the time.

2

u/Molwar 2d ago

Ohhhh now you're making me pine for next season of Resident alien. Fuck it, I'll rewatch the whole it again.

3

u/OMGlookatthatrooster 2d ago

Asta always does the right thing. It’s her most annoying trait.

1

u/AnAdvancedBot 2d ago

It’s all fun and games until the third act reveal that the robot is being puppeted by Mr. Nobody

1

u/lordatlas 2d ago

Back in the day, that man used to be Frank Welker.

1

u/EdibleHologram 2d ago

"BU-KAWK"

  • Giuliard-trained Alan Tudyk, in Moana

1

u/adjust_the_sails 1d ago

Raya and the Last Dragon, celebrated for its all Asian cast; Alan Tudyk as Tuk Tuk.

And to be clear, I just find it funny how Alan will pop up in unlikely places like that. Directors just love his voice over work.

1

u/deadpoolfool400 1d ago

What about the guy dressed like a pirate?

1

u/Purple-Mix1033 1d ago

If it’s DC, it’s Tudyk. The man is all over DC.

104

u/yojoewaddayaknow 2d ago

In case anyone were still wondering - yes confirmed it’s Tudyk

108

u/Upbeat_Tension_8077 2d ago

Most likely is, and I won't bet against him using his Julliard capabilities for this

25

u/Salarian_American 2d ago

That might be overkill. It's not like he's playing a chicken this time.

3

u/nickademus 2d ago

Bok…bok bok……BAWWK

84

u/SihkBreau 2d ago

He and Chris Pratt have first right of refusal on every VO role in Hollywood, it seems

158

u/ArchDucky 2d ago

James uses his friends. Fillion is in this specifically because he wanted him to have this terrible haircut.

57

u/JamesCDiamond 2d ago

Fillion is the dickish Lantern? Amazing!

38

u/ArchDucky 2d ago

And he's reprising the role in the Lanterns show.

0

u/ERedfieldh 1d ago

The dick plays a dick.

20

u/thePhilosopherTheory 2d ago

Gunn is probably a fan of Firefly

24

u/OgthaChristie 2d ago

His brother was on Angel back in the day.

3

u/Fallthrough 2d ago

Charles Gunn?

6

u/OgthaChristie 2d ago

Sean Gunn.

2

u/Erikthered00 2d ago

I guess that makes him a son of a Gunn

3

u/Oh_ffs_seriously 2d ago

Yeah, and on Gilmore Girls.

6

u/OgthaChristie 1d ago

I was specifically mentioning Angel because it is a Joss Whedon Show, but yes, he was Kirk Gleason on Gilmore Girls for years. It’s probably his best known role, besides Kraglin from Guardians of the Galaxy.

24

u/Salarian_American 2d ago

He really does keep hiring the same actors! Nathan Fillion has appeared in every movie James Gunn directed since Slither in 2006, although his part in Guardians 2 didn't make the final cut.

39

u/thomasstearns42 2d ago

At least Alan is good at it though.

24

u/spoon_master 2d ago

2

u/thomasstearns42 2d ago

What? He went to julliard? Never heard that before...

1

u/humboldt77 2d ago

Really helped with Heihei’s voice.

1

u/splader 1d ago

As is Pratt. I know Reddit still seems to hate the guy, but he did a good job with Mario.

2

u/operarose 2d ago

Except Tudyk actually has range.

12

u/Sammyd1108 2d ago

Is this going to be the third time he’s played a robot in a major blockbuster lol? Dudes gonna start getting typecasted.

15

u/TooMuchPowerful 2d ago

He went to Juilliard!

1

u/Simain 1d ago

chicken noises

2

u/Kummakivi 2d ago

Yea seems a bit strange to be playing another robot after Rogue One. Not sure I like comparing them.

7

u/Sammyd1108 2d ago

Don’t forget about I, Robot lol. That’s why I can’t believe he’s doing another robot. I guess it’s probably an easy check.

1

u/Kummakivi 2d ago

I know it's Alan Tudyk but it sounds unoriginal, like oh they used that voice we have heard a few times before already. He doesn't even sound any different, exact same voice.

5

u/Ash__Williams 2d ago

It sounds like him.

4

u/joesen_one 2d ago

Wonder who's 12? Linda Cardellini maybe since she's in a lot of Gunn stuff too?

4

u/Productofbillnye 2d ago

My ears are so attuned to Tudyk, he can’t hide anymore. Can hear that MF through someone ELSE’s headphones.

8

u/riegspsych325 The ⊃∪⊃⪽ 2d ago

his name is Sonny

2

u/elderron_spice 2d ago

Or Holden?

3

u/lorgskyegon 2d ago

Curse his sudden but inevitable betrayal

2

u/DethFeRok 2d ago

Oh lol I thought it was Willam Defoe

1

u/ST_Lawson 2d ago

About 99% sure that's him.

1

u/norkotah 2d ago

100%, good ear.

1

u/Gramis 2d ago

IMDB page has him listed on the movie so yes

1

u/operarose 2d ago edited 2d ago

That's why it sounded familiar! I thought maybe at first it was James Urbaniak, but didn't sound exactly quite.

1

u/Keianh 2d ago

I thought James Urbaniak but it’s not in his IMDB so I’m more likely 100% wrong.

1

u/jedimindtriks 2d ago

I mean even if it doesnt sound like him it probably still is lol

1

u/Billy2352 2d ago

Why would they call him Super Man and not Kal-El

1

u/noisypeach 1d ago

As soon as I saw the robot guys when Krypto entered the fortress, all I could think of was Kevin Smith talking about Jon Peters expecting Superman to have "his guards, his soldiers!"

Jon Peters finally got his wish. Superman has guards at the fortress now lol

1

u/Jakeisaprettycoolguy 1d ago

I really thought one of them was James Urbaniak
