Is my cat a Nebelung? Mystery solved…?
This is my beloved boy of seven years. He is the sweetest, laziest, most affectionate cat I’ve ever met. He purrs like a tractor, does not hesitate to loudly voice any complaints he might have, has a glare that could kill that he employs when he wants something he isn’t getting (a meal, mostly), MUST sit in my lap when I move to my desk after breakfast (and most CERTAINLY anytime there’s a meeting or the like going on) (and, yes, does occasionally enjoy watching whatever’s going on on my screen—Stardew Valley is a favourite). Other than that, he spends most of his time sleeping or watching the roads below from his cat tree in my kitchen window. (Said window also has nose marks aplenty from before I acquired said cat tree and he instead would sit in the windowsill. I do not intend to remove them.) Not pictured: he carries his tail over his back like the fancy guy he full well knows he is, and he has a tiiiny little white spot on his chest, though it’s invisible most of the time due to the sheer amount of other fur lol. Also, he’s only ever cared about a singular toy for more than five seconds and even when playing with it will remain mostly stationary in sitting or lying position and only move his front legs.
Now, the mystery—he was born to an ordinary shorthair mom (black with white paws and tailtip, adorable but nothing like this guy!) and an unknown dad that she’d snuck away and met. Only thing we heard about him was that he was some fancy long-hair breed. Yesterday I completely by chance came across someone posting their Nebelung in a Facebook comment section, of all places, and the ensuing Google and Reddit journey had me in hysterics (why are so many people stealing my cat?!??). What do you all think?
